Haere Mai is an old converted sheep barn set in a garden of one and a half acres of tranquil pine and oak trees at Truxet, a quiet Hamlet near the delightful village of Vendays-Montalivet. In the heart of France's sun-drenched Medoc region, this three-bedroom cottage, with all modern indoors facilities, is ideally situated for a family or group holiday. There is an enclosed, alarmed swimming pool with sun lounging area as well as a separate patio with a BBQ for eating out and sunbathing. Enjoy the rolling surf and golden beaches of the Atlantic - only six miles away. There is also horse riding, quad biking and cycling and for the younger ones, the excitement of an adventure playground. You may prefer touring the local vineyards or venturing further afield to some of the world famous vineyards nearby. Bordeau offers international transport links only an hour away to the south while the ferry Link (le bac) at LeVerdon to the north offers access to La Rochelle and beyond.
Details of Haere Mai: Haere Mai is a converted sheep barn, the original barn is now the Salle de Jour. There are three double bedrooms. The main bedroom has a pine king size bed, the second bedroom has a double bed and the third bedroom has two sets of adult size bunk beds. The bathroom has a shower . There is a separate toilet. The kitchen is a fully equipped with all modern conveniences. In house facilities include satellite TV, video library, CD stereo, an extensive library and many puzzles and games to occupy both adults and children. Facilities in the garden include a swimming pool and a barbecue with extensive areas for sunbathing.
Sun and Surf: The Atlantic coast is right on your doorstep with glorious sandy beaches stretching from Soulac-Sur-Mer at the mouth of the Gironde all the way down to Biarritz next to the Spanish border. An ideal way for families and friends to spend their days relaxing and sunning themselves on the uncrowded and golden sands. For the more energetic there is surfing and body boarding, lessons are locally available. If you are feeling adventurous plenty of deserted stretches of sand are to be found through the pine forests off the beaten track. However if you prefer more amenities there are the resorts of Montalivet and Soulac-Sur-Mer providing safe bathing with life guards and designated safe bathing areas, as well as bars,shops,restaurants and of course a big French market.
Adventure and action: Surfing has long been a feature of the Atlantic coast with the World Pro surfing events regularly being held at Lacanau Plage about twenty five minutes away. Hourtin Lac the biggest freshwater lake in France is a short drive away and provides the perfect environment for water sports at all levels. Whether wind surfing,sailing or kite surfing,equipment and lessons are available on site. Montalivet offers surfing and beach bugging lessons for all ages. There is also horse riding available locally along with go karting and for the children there is the Adventure forest and of course there is an impressive network of cycle paths.
