Why Shane chose Coupeville
We bought this house to use as a second home and found that we weren't using it as much as we thought we would. We then decided to share it with others. We had been coming to Whidbey Island for years on vacation before we decided to buy. We hope that you will enjoy our house as much as we do, and you may even find yourself coming back as we and many of our guests have.
What makes this House unique
The best things about this house are how quiet it is, how far from civilization you feel, how relaxed you are, how great the hottub and its views are, how easy it is to see all of the island from this central location, and how easy it is to get to Seattle from here. Some of our favorite restaurants include The Oystercatcher in downtown Coupeville - a small local place that uses local ingredients only, also Frasers Gourmet Hideaway in Oak Harbor - a slightly larger restaurant, with an excellent menu in the Northwest Style, and Prima Bistro in Langley - a perfect bistro style French restaurant that rivals food in some of the very best French bistros from NYC to SF

Peaceful, close to town, great for young kids
We thoroughly enjoyed our extended Labor Day weekend at the Happy House. The views are beautiful and the home is darling with everything you could need for your stay. My young kids loved the bunk room (complete with toys and books) and the hot tub. This home is far enough away from town to feel secluded and extra peaceful, but close enough to be able to take advantage of all that Coupeville has to offer. Thanks for a great mini vacation!
Great Stay in Coupeville
Excellent property for a family of 4-6... the owners are fabulous - responsive, honest and accommodating. Great view of Penn Cove and Mount Baker in the distance. Excellent location just minutes from Front Street in Coupeville.
This house was comfortable, clean and on a beautiful, quiet street. Enjoyed taking in the striking sunset on the beach down the street. Very peaceful overlooking the trees and seeing the water peek through them. Lovely place!
My favorite part was the crib - it was so nice to be able to put my baby to bed in a regular crib. Laying my baby down in a crib is so much easier on my back than laying her down in a travel crib or a pack'n'play.
What a wonderful stay. Quiet, friendly home with an amazing view from its comfortable deck, and just a short walk down to a peaceful driftwood beach. We spent almost a month there - first floor was perfectly sized for my wife, toddler and me, while the basement was useful when my parents and sisters visited for a mini family reunion. Kitchen fully stocked, and we grilled on the deck almost every night. Super cute kids room with crib, toys and books for my 22 month old. Kitchen knives were even sharp!(nothing more frustrating when trying to cook in rentals than cheap, inoperable knives) Hot tub was perfect for chilly nights.
Location great for other reasons than the water, too - 5 mins to coupeville, 20 mins from Langley, and 40 mins from deception pass. We wrote a bunch of our favorite activities in the guestbook (we left a kite behind at the house bc you really have to go fly one at Fort Casey), but a couple we forgot to mention - DEFINITELY get the Wolf Tracks ice cream at Kapaws ice cream in coupeville (because it’s phenomenal), and make sure you take the little gravel trail up the hill just to the west of the coupeville wharf boardwalk, at the end of which you’ll find a small park for picnicking and a beautiful little trail down to the beach. Truly a wonderful stay. If there are negatives, these are the only two: first, aside from the beach, access to everything else (shopping, parks, etc) requires a car. Second, there’s a naval airfield less than a mile away and the navy’s recently stepped up training flights there. There are overhead flights pretty much every weekday that can be really loud for an hour or two at a time; didn’t bother me or our toddler, but my wife was very much not a fan. But overall... just a wonderful place to call home for 28 days.
