This Country Cottage is situated in a quiet and beautiful wooded area southeast of downtown Kansas City. It is on one level, has key-less access and private parking. It has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a sofa sleeper in the living area to comfortably sleep 6. Guests will enjoy a full, well-equipped kitchen, laundry room, and outdoor living space. With an open layout it has a spacious and welcoming feel. The large master bedroom has a king-size bed, 2 closets, and master bath with a shower and jetted tub, as well as 2 sinks. The second bedroom has a queen-size bed, a desk and closet, and access to the second bathroom, which has a shower. There is also access to the second bathroom from the hall. Both bathrooms are large and have large counters and mirrors and lots of storage.

The Cottage is separated from the residence of the owners by a 3-car garage. There are no additional homes on the property.

Stunning in-law suite cottage. Very spacious and cared for. It’s truly telling how much the owners care for their property and each guest. Nice and remote but not far from civilization. I live nearby and will be recommending this place to our out of town guests.

This house was beautiful and very inviting for our family. We were able to host our family and grown children with grandbabies quite comfortably. The table and counter bar-top has enough room for everyone to sit at. The bed was comfortable. Our favorite Christmas movies were available. And the sweet decorations helped us feel at home. The water pressure was fabulous in both bathrooms and kitchen. Every room is very spacious. We loved the open layout for fellowship. We didnt get to enjoy the beautiful wrap around porch because it was very cold and December. Yet in another season, we would definitely utilize that space. We highly recommed This Country Cottage!

If I could give The Cottage ten stars, I would! As soon as we walked in, I knew I would love it. Everything was immaculate, it is beautifully decorated, and so spacious. It felt like home. The wrap around porch is a lovely feature, and we enjoyed sitting outside drinking coffee or having a snack. Speaking of food and coffee, the kitchen was stocked as well as my kitchen at home! Everything you would need was included, from mixing bowls, a mixer, baking sheets, nice pots and pans, storage containers, utensils…and I could still go on. Coffee and creamer for the Keurig were in the well-stocked pantry along with spices and many other cooking staples. We had some friends over, and they loved it as well. We were all so comfortable in the living area, and the kitchen table for six was so nice. There was a DVD player along with family friendly movies to relax and enjoy, as well as some games to play. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very large and comfortable, and the hosts even provided hair dryers, body wash and shampoo and conditioner. Speaking of the hosts, I had the pleasure of visiting with Lesli twice during our visit. She was gracious and kind, and did everything possible to accommodate us and to make our stay comfortable. The history of The Cottage is very interesting! This was the best experience I have ever had at a rental property, and I would recommend it to everyone. I hope to stay again sometime!

Check-in was easy peasy. This home is more than a cottage. The place is larger thanour own home! Beautifully furnished. Thick fluffy towels in the bathrooms. Everything you would need to cook a meal if you didn't want to eat out. Its very scenic, quiet, and relaxing. Loved our stay.

We loved everything about our stay! The location is off the beaten path but eating & shopping are very nearby. We enjoyed both the Canoe Club restaurant and ordered pizza from Station 7. Top notch on both accounts. It truly feels like a home away from home. The owners are extremely thoughtful and accommodating. During our weekend stay, our children enjoyed many walks down the path to visit their horse, Milo, for pets and feeding him sweet potato and apple slices. It was hands down their highlight of our stay. We used the patio in the mornings for coffee and playing games in the afternoon and evening as a family. I’ve already rebooked with them for our next trip to KC!

Beautiful country sanctuary

The “cottage” is a lovely home on a hill that is private from the owners house on a large acreage that includes a horse paddock. The home was well stocked with everything required, spotless, and tasteful. A wrap around covered deck was relaxing in the evening and perfect for morning breakfast. The highlight was a visit by our son’s family and most memorable our young grandkids feeding apples to the very friendly horse on the property. We would definitely want to stay there again.

We have lived on this property (50 acres) since 1983. There are two homes here, connected by a 3-car garage. We raised 5 children here and still love living in the country even though we have been empty-nesters for several years. The Cottage portion was home for Gordon's parents for many years. We decided it would make a perfect vacation rental because of the privacy and beauty of the home and property. We did a lot of updating before opening up for guests and have continued to replace and refresh along the way.

Why they chose this property

This Country Cottage is a lovely and comfortable home with all the comforts you may want as you relax and unwind. The setting is beautiful and very private. We are out in the country, but not too far out! Grocery stores, shopping, movie theaters, and restaurants are within a short drive.

Please note that we have a strict no smoking policy, inside and out. Thank you!

We recognize that some guests travel with a service animal. We do the cleaning and upkeep between guests and, unfortunately, I am allergic to cats and to dogs that are not hypoallergenic. Please keep this in mind as you decide where to book. Again, thank you!

What makes this property unique

Here you will find a beautiful setting and view. You are very likely to see wildlife and will be surrounded by nature. The home is comfortable, inviting and very livable. It is furnished in eclectic farmhouse style. Some things are new, new-to-us, old and very old. It all comes together in a wonderfully cozy way. The wrap-around porch offers peaceful outdoor space. It features a porch swing, sitting area with wicker furniture and an area off the kitchen/dining area for outdoor dining or playing games.

The home cannot be seen from the road and has a 1/4 mile gravel driveway. Part of the driveway is a hill which may seem a little intimidating the first time. Just get some momentum and keep coming! Stay to the left as the drive curves to the right at the top of the hill. You will then see This Country Cottage! For easy access, the keypad will be programmed with the last four digits of the telephone number you provided when booking.

Please let us know if you will be arriving after dark and we will leave the porch lights on.
