Private pool and secluded garden. Sleeps 4 adults maximum + 4 children.
Haute Fayette is a 17th century priory renovated to a high standard situated in a peaceful, rural area. Renovations have retained a lot of the original features, arched windows, original stonework and exposed beams. The thick original stone walls mean the property keeps cool which can be a godsend on very hot days. The property has easy access from the car park for people needing a wheelchair. Also accessible by wheelchair is the downstairs bedroom, bathroom, dining room, kitchen, lounge, garden and pool. We have kitted out the kitchen with everything we would use ourselves from pizza cutter to washing machine. Included are microwave oven, hob, regular oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, coffee machine, toaster and corkscrew! The Dining area/day room has a table for 10 diners to sit comfortably a chaise longue and easy chair. Access to the garden, exterior dining area, pool and aperitif terrace is gained through an arched doorway. The downstairs bedroom has two twin beds (sleeps 2) and its own bathroom with large shower, WC and handbasin. The lounge is cosy with two huge leather sofas, TV, coffee tables and wood burning fire. The upstairs open mezzanine area has easy chairs, original wooden beams and stone walls. The Master bedroom has a king size bed looking out onto the beautiful scenic countryside. Floor to ceiling windows give you a panoramic view over fields and forests and the chance to see the sunrise. The childrens room, with access to the bathroom, has 2 sets of bunk beds (sleeps 4). Bedroom 4 has a double bed and lounge area with views out over the garden and pool. This room also has access to the bathroom. The pool area is completely enclosed by a discrete safety fence, as demanded by French law, with a child proof self closing gate. We do ask though that you survey your children at all times. The pool is 5metres x 10metres with a depth of 1m at the shallow end progressing to 3metres at its deepest point. The garden and pool area are completely secluded and not overlooked. The area around the property has a lot to offer including, chateaux, ruins (Chateau La Mercerie is amazing), kayaking, markets, caves (the best in my opinion being those at Villars) golf, velo-rail, bicycle hire, soap making, glass blowing, underground church (a must, at Aubeterre.) Make a day of it and visit the potter Xavier Maffre. There is car space for two possibly three cars. Our neighbours have free range chickens who enjoy a walk around our pool so we request no animals. The minimum stay is 4 nights. We do ask that you respect the area around the house. We have a very good relationship with our neighbours and we want it to stay that way. Please no undue noise especially after 10pm. The supermarket and local shops are a 10 minute car drive away from the property. Please note that the 4 bunk beds are only suitable for children.

We are so pleased that you appreciated the house. It is really rewarding to know that we are able to share the beauty of Haute-Fayette and that the hard work that goes into maintaining it is bringing pleasure to others. We would love to see you back soon.

We are aware of this review. All we can say is that everything mentioned is grossly exagerrated. It is a secluded property in the countryside of course there are mice but they do not have 'free run of the house leaving droppings everywhere'. If you are interested in our house but are put off by the comments made please keep in mind the excellent comments from previous guests of which there are many. There are a few things they forgot to mention in their comment namely that even before arrival they tried to get money off the rental. In our mind they were determined to get a lovely house for less money than advertised. They dont mention the reimbursement we made. Please feel free to ask questions regarding this comment.
We really enjoyed our stay at haute fayette. The pool and garden are great. An extra parasol would be comfortable cause its a close call to cover the table from the sun when your with 8 people. All the beds were made and there were towels for the pool and showering witch is a great comfort! The vieuw from the master bedroom is stunning!

Great holiday
We had a great time at Haute Fayette, it was lovely and relaxing and the view was wonderful. The pool was enjoyed by both children and adults. It was very peaceful and a great place to enjoy alfresco dinning.

About the host
Hosted by Kathy Price
We love peace and quiet, sunshine, countryside, wine, cheese, bread and markets. Where else would we buy a cottage.
Why they chose this property
The location is easily reached from the UK. Airports at Bergerac, Limoges and Bordeaux all offer numerous flights and are just 90 minutes from the cottage.
What makes this property unique
The view was what first captured our hearts, sunflowers are everywhere. From the master bedroom early morning sunrises are amazing. Late night stargazing in an unpolluted sky, unforgettable.
