Located in the heart of the spectacular Canterbury countryside, Terrace Downs Resort is an idyllic luxury lifestyle resort set amidst some of New Zealand’s most breathtaking scenery.

Villa 207 is an architecturally designed two bedroom, two bathroom luxury villa in this international class resort.

Positioned on an elevated site looking directly over the 18th fairway and beyond to Mt Hutt and the Southern Alps, the villa spans approximately 150m2 and is configured as 2 Bedrooms with California king-split beds and a bathroom with a spacious shower. The 2nd bedroom has a small kitchenette with a foldaway sofa bed which can sleep an extra 2 guests (ideally children). The open plan lounge and dining area features a gas fire, fully equipped kitchen, private balcony enjoying panoramic views, DVD Player, Sky television, CD stereo system, internet connectivity, undercover car parking/garage, full kitchen and laundry facilities, gas fireplace.

Terrace Downs offers numerous lifestyle activities to suit everyone including a par 72, 18-hole championship golf course which is rated as one of the top courses and golfing destinations in New Zealand. The luxury resort also features horse riding, hiking, jet-boating, Salmon / trout fishing and award winning cuisine.

Terrace Downs is only a 50 minute drive from Christchurch Airport and one of South Islands premier ski fields, Mount Hutt is only a 15 minute drive away.

The chameleon like Rakaia River, one minute a wild and awesome torrent, the next a gently azure blue ribbon, meanders through the resort and is widely renowned as New Zealand’s top Salmon River.

Lovely stay at Terrace Downs

Accomodations were super for our family of four. Lots of space and the kids appreciated having their own area in the studio unit that was their room. Beautiful view and well equipped unit. Owner was very responsive and helpful with dinner and golf reservations. We really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely location but not part of resort

A wonderful spot, lovely views and nice and warm. Good spot to head up skiing. A few issues with doors not closing properly. Hadn’t realised we weren’t considered resort guests and therefore couldn’t book dinner easily. We did get in last minute and food was amazing, just disappointing given the resort is nowhere near any other shops or restaurants. Had expected a few more basics for the price - toilet paper, shampoo and soap.

Good accommodation but that’s were it ended

The unit was good but as we were not considered in house guests at Fable terrace downs we were not able to book in for an evening meal also booked golf over 2 weeks prior and could not get golf carts . This place is pushing the accommodation yet cannot deliver on the associated services of a remote destination ! Very very poor

Jaw dropping views

Stunning location - very remote and quiet. It takes about an hour to get to Mount Hutt Ski Field and an hour to get to Christchurch. The mountains and river are spectacular. The villa is over the carport on the first floor. There is another villa overhead and more to the side. It is as pictured. Great views from the windows. The nearest shops in Methven are 20 mins away - limited choices there - best to bring food from Christchurch if driving through. Fully equipped kitchen. Some basics like tea, instant coffee, salt, and sugar are provided. Slightly disappointed that the washing machine was out of order (despite email telling us that detergent was provided) and we could not get the gas fire started. Heat pumps and electric blankets were great. We were nice and warm. Only once used all the hot water when 4 people all wanted to shower after skiing. TV with Sky. The WIFI was good. Comfortable beds. Everything was very clean. Insufficient toilet paper - we ran out on the last morning. Also no shampoo - so must bring. We had 4 nights. One was very quiet - no one around. Two nights were noisy because of music being played in an adjacent villa. On Saturday night we had an issue, our fault entirely for not locking the door. My teenage daughter was woken up in the early hours by a strange man in her bedroom. In retrospect it is almost funny - he clearly had been to an event at the golf club and was drunk. He mistook the villas - they do all look the same - and thought he entered his own one. It took a bit of persuading to convince him that he had made a mistake. So do not forget to lock the door ( I can not believe we did not that night- we always do normally). There was a lot of noise that Saturday night from cars coming and going in the small hours and people talking outside - I expect it was a wedding party. I am not convinced that the cafe and restaurant are open much - so book ahead so you are not disappointed. It looked like it was booked out for corporates/weddings etc when we were there. I think it is easily one of the best rental properties in the area and I thought it was good value.

Warm and comfortable, great view of the mountains

Warm and comfortable stay, very handy having a well equipped kitchen. Our first time visiting Terrace Downs, it was a little tricky to read the signs (we arrived in the dark) but straight forward check in instructions from the host. Looking out over the mountains in the morning during sunrise was incredible! Great views!

Breathtaking views of the mountains and rolling hills

The Villas at Terrace Downs at Windwhistle are amazing and very well equipped and only an hours drive from Christchurch. Close to Lake Coleridge, Methven and walks. If your looking for a quick relaxing get away Terrace Downs Resort and Villas are highly recommend.

Modern and beautiful villa with gas fireplace, ac, nice bathrooms and very friendly hosts. Directions are a bit hit and miss, if using gps you will drive right by it. Also has full laundry, would stay there again

We really enjoyed our stay in this Terrace Downs villa. Beautiful, spacious and fabulous views. We were self contained so it didn’t matter that the resort itself was closed. If you did want any restaurant, etc facilities this may be something to consider.

This was an awesome break. The views are quite outstanding from the Unit which was clean modern and way bigger than expected. Will definetly be returning another weekend
