Lake and Mountain Views - excellent skiing, tramping, cycling and water sports

Ben Ohau Retreat is a luxury self contained holiday home, located on the shores of Lake Ohau close to the southern Alps in the tussock strewn MacKenzie country.

It provides access to year round fly fishing, tramping and more relaxed nature walks, mountain biking, skiing and the opportunity to observe the rare black Stilt in natural environments. The Alps to Ocean cycle track and Te Araroa walk are a stones throw away.

The house has 3 double bedrooms and a bunk room - sleeping up to 8 people. The large deck provides marvelous evening views of the sun setting on craggy Ben Ohau and the Benmore Range. Nestled in the lee of the predominant Northwesterly winds it is not far to go to see lovely views of NZ's highest peak Mt Cook and also locally known as Aorangi. Tramping, mountain biking, lake and river fishing, skiing, bird watching, landscape painting and photography are at your doorstep.

Great place in amazing location

The house was perfect for our family holiday. Very tidy and plenty of space. Communication from property manager was great, making our trip very easy. The location is awesome if you are into the outdoors, with skiing, fishing and walks in the many national parks close by.

Wonderful Ohau village stay

Great house for family stay. Very warm and clean. Beautiful views to Ben Ohau. Good, well equipped kitchen. Underfloor heating really nice in kitchen and bathroom. Nice having two living spaces. Would definitely stay again.

Great location. Great property. Great holiday. Very impressed with info supplied in case of civil defence emergency etc. Although communication about entry to premises could be better from Bookabach and informing guests that the water is not safe to drink unless boiled would be beneficial allowing guests to buy bottled water before arrival.

Lovely spacious house in quiet neighborhood

Our group of 4 really enjoyed this rental. It is in a quiet neighborhood with a beautiful view of Lake Ohau. At night it was dark enough to see thousands of stars. This home is quite spacious. There are two main living rooms. The kitchen is large and well stocked. There are three comfortable bedrooms. We really enjoyed the large wrap around porch.

Fantastic views in Ohay

Great stay, gorgeous views, easy check-in, and well stocked. Property manager made a reservation for us at the Lake Ohau Lodge with good food/wine and a wonderful view of Mt. Cook. Easy scenic drive to Lake Tekapo, Lake Pukaki, clay cliffs, and through Lindis Pass. Very much enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this place.

Everything you could need
