Koru bach is the idyllic holiday retreat located at beautiful Medlands beach on Great Barrier Islands stunning east coast.
It offers elevated north facing views over Medlands beach and the mountains beyond, yet set in a secluded and private bush setting just a short walk to the beach.
Ideal for a romantic weekend away or as a central base to explore the island.
Perfect uncrowded waves and great fishing can often be found at Medlands beach.
The Space
Koru Bach is a small modern eco building running entirely from sola power.
It is light and airy and the combination of sliding doors and shutters offer different outdoor living spaces including a sheltered courtyard, perfect for the evening apron or BBQ.
Large whispy Kanuka trees flank the building attracting an abundance of native birds including Wood pigeon, Kaka, and Tuis.
In the evening a unique night sky can be observed, so unbelievable Great barrier Island was awarded with Dark sky sanctuary status due to its extremely low light pollution.
Guest Access
The Bach is located at the southern end of Medlands beach. Access is by crossing Orawharo stream via a walking bridge.
A vehicle is available for guests to use to access the property from the bridge.
Alternatively if you decide to bring your own vehicle and drive to the property directly the stream acesss is tidal. A 4WD is recommended to cross the beach and stream.
Just to note, rental cars are not allowed to cross the beach.
If you would simply prefer to walk, it's about a five to ten minute pleasant stroll around the stream and up the hill to the Bach.
Guests have full access to the cottage and surrounding gardens.
Some other things to note
The Bach is ideal for a couple or couple with two small children under twelve years, (no charge)
The second bedroom has two single beds but is a small space more suitable for children.
A baby portacot is also available.
