This was a nice property and accommodated 6 adults and 4 children reasonably well. The one “cot” was actually a deck chair so it was good that the two smallest kids could share one small pull out bed. Prospective guests should know that there is a social agency on the same block which draws a nearly constant crowd of homeless and addicted people. Although we observed some arguments and open air drug use, we were not approached or bothered by anyone. Good accessible location and some great shops within a few blocks and off the tourist trail. Parking was a bit of an issue but we found some street parking within a few blocks.
This property is outside of the Old City in an up and coming neighbourhood with plenty of great restaurants. Walking to the Old City takes about 30 minutes but it’s also an easy and affordable ride share into town. The flat is spotless with great amenities. The layout is a bit quirky but very functional. It has a lovely dining area and living room which are somewhat separate from the kitchen and bedrooms. This creates a nice place to sit and relax without worrying about disturbing others. François and Emmanuella are very responsive hosts. I would recommend this as a beautiful flat in an interesting neighbourhood in a fantastic little city.
I'm very torn on this review for 2 primary reasons.First, depending on your number of guests you may have access to the 2nd floor. The first floor was exceptional. Beautiful layout. Appears newly renovated. Clean and spacious rooms. Great dining and living room. We paid for additional guests so had access to the 2nd floor. The problem is that it has 5' ceilings and extremely steep stairs. I hit my head many times and would not feel comfortable having young kids or elderly go up those stairs. Yes, it has a bed. But it was not a comfortable accomadation. Would have appreciated if this was made clear in advance.Second, as other reviews mention there is a social agency on an adjacent corner. We were not approached by anyone but there was a homeless woman living in the entranceway next door and others begging at the large intersection directly in front of the apartment for most of the day. The St Roche district is very nice with lots of restaurants, bars and shops and nearly across the street. Just something to be aware of.If you only need the first floor, this place is great. Just be aware of the environment outside.
