The location was excellent for our needs, with a family member living a mile away. Parking was great, public transport (train station) was OK. Local restaurants were fun and tasty. There was ample storage space. We never checked out the TV, the wifi was reliable. There was an issue with a fire alarm low battery beep that the host was able to resolve within a day.

About the host
Hosted by Marja Kaisla
Originally from Finland, I spend my days practicing for concerts, hanging out with my beagle, playing tennis, cooking, gardening, and reading about my favorite subjects: history and quantum mechanics. I really enjoy being able to offer a home away from home for my guests; my goal is to have the guests feel at home the minute they walk in the private, tranquil space, leaving all the worries in the world outside of this serene space.
Why they chose this property
I absolutely love West Germantown, which is one of the historic neighborhoods of Philadelphia next to Wissahickon Valley. While it is a vibrant urban neighborhood, it has a dynamic combination of a modern and historic vibe with diverse cultures all around. It is 10 minutes from the Fairmount Park, one of the largest urban park systems in the world. It features extensive green space along the Schuylkill River, Philadelphia Art Museum, Barnes Foundation, Boathouse Row and The Philadelphia Zoo, only about 15 min ride away from Germantown.
What makes this property unique
My property is on a very quiet, unique and quaint pedestrian street, surrounded by restaurants and takeout places of various ethnicities - Ethiopian (voted as one of the 50 bests restaurants in Philadelphia), Jamaican, Italian, Egyptian among others, all within 1 to 2 min walking distance. Vernon Park, a 5-min walk away, is a quiet and historic, 8-acre park known for its historical monuments, including markers for the Battle of Germantown and the first settlers from the 1600's. While my small, 3-story building was originally built in 1900, it is fully renovated with central a/c and all modern amenities in the open kitchen.
