Lovely location

Tokai/Steenberg/Constanta Valley is just a beautiful part of The Cape. So many vineyards and wonderful restaurants. Diana’s holiday home is ideally located.

My wife and I wanted a base for our month exploring Cape Town - could not have found a more perfect location! The cottage is a thoroughly modern and very attractive residence with great amenities and appliances - the pool was a special treat for us. Diana and Rob could not have been better hosts - their home is above the cottage area - and they helped us find our way around town with great suggestions for activities. Highly recommended for a stay in Cape Town - easy to get into the town center but far enough away to be quiet and relaxing. A great experience overall.

Very clean, comfortable and cosy.

Our family of four stayed here for four nights. The owners were there to greet us and to give us an introduction to the facility. We instantly noted the impeccable tidiness and equipment of the house. Everything worked as it should. There was plenty of space for everyone and lots of storage for clothes and luggage. The garden with the clean pool was nicely done and offered lots of privacy. It was very peaceful and secure both in the house and in the garden. Supermarkets and restaurants are close, but you need a car. Everything you want to see in the Cape region is easy to reach by car. The whole package was very pleasant, practical and well worth the price. For the sunbathers: the garden and the pool area are sunny in the morning but shadowed in the afternoon by the surrounding mountains. Still, this house gets 5 star and a full recommendation from us!

Perfect for everyone!

Wir haben uns sehr wohl und sicher gefühlt. Die Gegend ist sehr ruhig und perfekt, um Kapstadt zu erkunden oder zu Wandern (Silvermine). Das Haus war für uns 5 Besucher perfekt mit Pool und Garten. Die Gastgeber sehr hilfreich und freundlich. Wir können es jedem jederzeit weiterempfehlen. :)

Phantastisches Ferienhaus in toller Lage

Die Wirklichkeit ist noch schöner als die Bilder im Inserat. Tolle Gastgeberin und ein Haus, in dem wir jeder Zeit wieder wohnen möchten. Viel Platz, tolle Ausstattung und für Kinder gibt es sogar Spielzeug!

Traumhaus, Traumgarten in Steenberg

Herzlichen Dank Diana für den tollen Urlaub in Steenberg. Wir haben die Zeit sehr genossen. Das Haus ist perfekt ausgestattet, die Gartenanlage mit Pool läd zu schönen Stunden ein- 5 Sterne plus. Wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen und während des Urlaubs betreut. Ein unbedingtes "Muss" ist ein Besuch der nahgelegenen Weingüter um den leckeren Wein, das gute Essen und die unverstellte Freundlichkeit und Aufmerksamkeit der Südafrikaner zu genießen. Wir kommen wieder, liebe Grüße Antje und Steffen

Lovely house and garden

We enjoyed our stay in this safe and well maintained house. Unfortunately my wife is nervous about all dogs and the owners strayed into our garden on several occasions. Apart from that we could not fault anything.

Secluded gem

Generally the house and property are excellent. The only complaint we had was that it was advertised as having air conditioning. Not so. There was 1 portable unit that we needed to fill up with water and it was not all that effective. It is not a built in air conditioning system. The cottage gets very hot especially upstairs. The private pool area, BBQ area is all great!

Un cottage pas une maison

Le cottage est situé dans une propriété ou les propriétaires resident aussi.La propriétaire est sympa mais il n’y a pas de petit cadeau de bienvenue et même pas d’huile et de vinaigre à disposition.... ils fabriquent de très bonne glace que vous pouvez leur acheter. Dans une zone très sécuritaire idéalement située à 45 minutes du centre ville. Le cottage est tres bien décorée tres bien équipée ,Les lits sont très confortable On est .entouré de haies de 4 à 5 mètres de haut.il n’ y a plus de soleil à partir de 16 h sur la piscine.La cuisine est petite l’escalier qui mène à l’étage très raide,.Les 2 chambres sont tres grandes l’une au dessus de l’autre avec un plancher de bois donc sans insonorisation sonore. La maison n’est pas ventillée et humide,il n’y a pas d’air climatisée et pas de moustiquaire seulement une base portative dans la chambre sous les combles ( sans rideaux occultant )donc il faut choisir avoir chaud ou être mangé par les moustiques. C’est pénible vu le prix qu’on paye à la journée.

Super schön, ruhig und doch nah am Geschehen.

Wirklich eine Perle. Die schöne, ruhige und sichere Lage, der gepflegte Garten und grosse Pool haben alle unsere Erwartungen erfüllt. Genossen haben wir den Ausblick vom Schlafzimmer auf das Lichtermeer und in ruhigen Stunden am Morgen bei Kaffee und am Abend bei kühlem Wein unsere spannenden Ausflüge vorzusprechen oder im Rückblick im schönen Garten an uns vorbei ziehen zu lassen. Wir wurden mit guten Tipps versorgt, die wenigen Fragen und Anliegen wurden sofort berücksichtigt und wir wurden mit einer tollen Eiscreme (ganz cool) verwöhnt. Wo kriegt man das schon? Wirklich super!!!!

Fantastic Cottage and Hospitality!

From the moment we arrived in Cape Town, we were made to feel at home by Diana and Robert, who couldn’t have been more helpful. The cottage is exactly as it appears in the photos and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. It’s in a lovely neighbourhood and we found it to be a great location for exploring Cape Town and it’s surroundings. We would love to come back and stay again! Ps make sure you try their delicious ice cream...

Fantastic stay in beautiful cottage

We had a fabulous stay over Christmas at this georgous cottage nearby Steenberg. Perfect for our two boys with lovely swimming pool and plenty of space in the cottage. The cottage was spotlessly clean, well equipped and a we had a warm welcome from Diana. Perfectly located near Constantia and close to lots of lovely restaurants. Would highly recommend and hope to stay again very soon.

Gorgeous cottage, perfect location, fabulous hosts

We have just arrived back home and are missing Almondbury Cottage already. And well who wouldn't? The cottage is perfectly situated in Zwaanswyk in the Constantia winelands and so within very easy reach of Cape Town. Whether you want to visit the penguins at Boulders Beach, have a sundowner in Hout Bay or have an evening out in Cape Town, Diana and Robert's Cottage is the perfect base for your holiday. We have been coming to Cape Town for about 20 years and have previously stayed in high end hotels in the area, but finally decided to take the plunge and have our own 'home from home' for this our most recent 2-week trip. And we couldn't have found the most perfect place in Almondbury Cottage. The property is exactly as you see in the pictures - beautifully styled with contemporary furnishings. It is really very secluded with its own beautiful garden and pool and Diana and Robert couldn't have been more perfect hosts. Everything is provided for you from plentiful towels, including towels for the sunbeds and you are just a stone's throw away from local shops, coffee shops and restaurants. Diana was also enormously helpful with our pre-holiday preparations, accommodating all our requests, and responding quickly with a really solution-oriented approach - I felt I knew her already even before we had met! As other reviewers have noted you MUST also try Diana and Robert's ice cream - the chocolate is definitely not to be missed! I would not hesitate to recommend Almondbury Cottage and really hope we have the opportunity to stay their again on our next visit to Cape Town.

Traumurlaub startet in einer Traumlocation :-)

Ausstattung wie beschrieben, Unterkunft ist perfekt sauber und mit liebevollen Details abgestimmt, das Haus ist alarmgesichert. Trotz sehr später Ankunft wurden wir herzlich begrüßt durch die Vermieterin. "Insidertips" um den Urlaub sinnvoll zu planen wurden gerne gegeben. Garten und Pool laden ein, den Urlaub in der Unterkunft zu verbringen, aber das sollte man nicht .. denn Kapstadt und Umgebung ist unwahrscheinlich schön. Statt dem Tafelberg solte man Signal Hill besuchen,da von dort ein genialer Blick auf Tafelberg und Kapstadt "von oben" möglich ist. Ebenso ein Ausflug nach Hermanus zu den Whalewatchern entlang der beeindruckenden Küstenstrasse empfehlenswert. Gordon's Bay ist ein verführerischer Strand für ein Picknick, Sonne ,"warmes" Wasser zum Muschel suchen und Salzwasserluft. Bettys Bay .. das zuhause der Pinguine .. sie warten dort in Reih und Glied auf den Fototouristen. Kap der Guten Hoffnung, Camps Bay, Hout Bay und dann zur V&E Waterfront sollte man in sein Programm aufnehmen. Hout Bay/Chapmans Peak gibt eien wundervollen Blick über die Bay, ist aber kein "must have", da die Küstenstrassen die "Toll Free" sind genug schöne Eindrücke vermitteln. Ich kann Almondbury Lodge mit besten Gewissen weiterempfehlen. Herrlich ruhige Lage, absolutes Sicherheitsgefühl für das auch "Bo" sorgt :-) und wir einmal Roberts selbstgemachtes Eis probieren durfte, sollte sich kein anders mehr kaufen, da man geschmacklich nichts besseres finden wird. WENN wieder Kapstadt, dann nur im Almondbury Lodge. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten für Frühstück gibt es "um die Ecke", für Europäer heißt das mind 10 min mit dem Auto, aber Afrika hat eben ander Distanzen :-) Auf diesem Weg nochmals ein herzliches Dankeschön an Diana und Robert "!!!!!

alles perfekt

das war das schönste Haus auf unserer Reise durch Südafrika. Es ist perfekt ausgestattet und super sauber. Durch die liebevolle Betreuung, mit vielen wertvollen Reisetipps und ganz viel Eis konnten wir hier tolle Tage erleben. Wir waren leider viel zu kurz da. gerne hätten wir den tollen Pool, der immer gereinigt wurde, länger genossen. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder. :-)

Lovely Cottage located in beautiful Zwaanswyk

Dreamy, beautiful furnished and well-looked-after Cottage in Upper Zwaanswyk with fully equipped kitchen, super comfy beds, spacious bathroom (with shower/ tub) and lovely garden with pool. No water restriction b/c of privat well water use. We enjoyed our stay very much and loved every second in this wonderful Cottage...we'll sure come back!

Sie fühlen sich vom ersten Tag an wie Zuhause

Problemlose Buchung dank der imm er sehr schnellen Antwortzeit durch Diana. Und so "gut aufgehoben" haben wir uns die ganze Zeit während unseres Aufenthalts (immerhin 7 Wochen) gefühlt. Das Haus hatte alles was man zum Ferienleben braucht - von der Einrichtung bis zu den nahen Erholungsgebieten, erleichtertes Auffinden durch Dianas TIps und Hinweise. Kleines "Hochsommer-Manko": es gibt keine Klimaanlage, aber durch die Lage des Hauses in den Bergen und von schattigen großen Bäumen umgeben, wurde das Fehlen gut ausgeglichen. Das Haus war außerordentlich gut gepflegt, hell eingerichtet, der Garten, ebenso der Pool in Topzustand, ein bis zu 4-x wöchentlich agierender Gärtner hielt den Pflegezustand hoch. Auch die vielzitierte Wasserknappheit konnte - bei vernünftiger Nutzung - niemandem schaden. Robert, der ein hervorragendes Eis produziert, hat sich einen eignen Brunnen zugelegt von dem auch das Cottage profitiert. Alles in Allem - Sehr empfehlenswert!

a paradise in a fine neighborhood

I would like to give Almondbury Cottage a 6-star rating! 1) The house: It is spotless in every corner! All the amenities in the house have high quality and are well maintained. The mountain view from the master bedroom is priceless! The interior is tastefully decorated. It is surrounded by beautiful manicured landscape with three matured almond trees which had lots of almonds during our stay. There are sun birds and sugar birds come to visit every day. 2) The hospitality: Diana and Robert have the warmest hospitality. They are genuine, generous and always there to help. We will definitely stay with them again like revisiting old friends. 3) The neighborhood: Almondbury Cottage is located in a very fine neighborhood next to a beautiful mountain. We enjoyed hiking around to check out those high-designed properties.

Schöner Urlaub in toller Lage

Das Cottage wurde liebevoll renoviert und eingerichtet. Die Lage in den Bergen von Constantia ist ideal. Zu den Weingütern der Gegend mit vielen tollen Restaurants sind es jeweils nur wenige Fahrminuten. Nach Kapstadt sind es nur 20 Fahrminuten, viele schöne Strände sind in der gleichen Zeit erreichbar. Die Vermieter wohnen im Haus nebenan und waren für unsere Fragen stets ansprechbar. Unsere 4-jährige Tochter liebte besonders das selbstgemachte Eis und den Hund Bo! Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Traumhaft... Heaven...

Wir haben die Zeit im Almondbury Cottage sehr genossen. Es war fantastisch. Das Haus ist sehr gut ausgestattet und sehr schoen eingerichtet. Der Garten plus Pool sind der absolute Hammer, die Gegend absolut sicher und super zentral. Diana und Rob waren sehr herzlich und hilfsbereit. Das von ihnen produzierte Eis ist ein Traum! Absolute Empfehlung fuer einen wunderschönen Urlaub!

I was born and raised in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. I worked together with my husband Robert in the restaurant business where we run succesfull and trendy clubs and cafes. One of our 'babys' was the very first house club in Freiburg called Drifters Club and our last project was the very up-market cafe-bar-club 'Kagan' in the last three top floors of the highest building in town.
We live with our two sons (14 and 10 years old) in the 'Mother City' of South Africa since 12 years and are selling very successfully the best ice cream in town known as 'the ice cream guys'.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with Zwaanswyk (the hidden pearl of Cape Town) on first sight! Close to town but still in nature with lots of space and peace and all amenities you could wish for nearby!

What makes this property unique

The outstanding view of the False Bay, our little Holywood, with the sparkling night lights of the Southern Suburbs and the direct access to the Constantia Berg with its fabulous hiking- and mountain bike trails. And not to forget the high class restaurants and wine estates just around the corner!
