Such a cute and affordable place! Very peaceful, right on the lake and in a quiet neighborhood. The cabin is very nicely done inside and we felt right at home. The beds are extra comfortable too! Perfect place to stay for our group of 3. We will definitely book it again for our trip up to VT next year!
The great, the good, the bad and the ugly...Great views and location. Very relaxing sitting right on the lake watching sunsets and moonrises. Good communication with the host & cabin very clean. Nice baskets with s'mores fixings, games, etc.Sadly, that's where the good stopped. We discovered on arrival that only 3 windows were functional plus a screen door to give air to the cabin. All the other windows were either nailed or painted shut. And unfortunately none of those functional windows were in the bedrooms! Also, the noisy fan in the bathroom that went on every time you turned on the light was really annoying and potentially disruptive to anyone trying to sleep. Last, the fixed dock sits a good 30" above the water and had no ladder. The lake edge was a bank of roughly 4'-5' in height that our lab pup had trouble navigating due to it's steepness and lack of steps. So, while we could look at the lake, swimming and boating would have been quite problematic. But the ugly was the drinking water situation. While they do state in the property details 5x filtration of lake water, they also state that they drink bottled water. And plenty was provided. But the implications of this are wide. If they don't drink the water, then one presumes you shouldn't brush your teeth out of the faucet either. Nor should you wash/rinse your dirty dishes in the sink. We boiled water to sterilize everything we washed. All in all, we felt the property was poor value for the money.
Carmi Lake is a bit of paradise. Quiet location, a peaceful atmosphere, just splashes of waves on the lake as it was windy most of time during our stay. Water in the lake was warm (even warmer than air temperature at times), which made it for a very pleasant swim. The cabin was warm and cozy, with comfortable beds and enough at-home entertainment options to unwind after the day of biking, hiking and exploring local farms (it's a blueberry picking season) and restaurants. Host and housekeeper were welcoming, very responsive and easy to communicate. We will be happy to come again during the next few years, possibly next year, maybe consider a winter stay during the skiing season.A couple of things for the host to consider: 1) add small necessities like dishwashing sponges and teabags, 2) increase water pressure in the shower.
