About this property

The Grotto

This is a very unique unit, as it would have been where the staff—including the O'Sullivan family's domestic help—prepared meals for the main house and resided. Because early kitchens were heat-intensive and posed fire risks, they were often situated in semi-separated or lower levels like this. The "Grotto" would have acted as a cool, secure location for storing bulk provisions and supplies, keeping them fresh and accessible for the servants.

Fun, clean and comfortable place to stay. The bed was nice and firm, bedding and towels were of good quality. Liked having the fan and loved the coffee.
