The property is in a rural location only 3 minutes drive from the main State Highway 1 and Motorway access that will take you North or South. Also close by are public transport options for bus or train. If you are travelling for business, with family, for pleasure, for a special event, or just a break away. Amblers Rest is a great option. The main house and Amblers Rest are located amongst an old fashioned garden, orchard and established trees. Guests are welcome to roam the garden and may be lucky enough to sample the fruit and resulting produce that may be available. We are happy to provide a highchair, or porta cot if required. Also for the children, swings and a place to play and run with balls to expend some energy are an asset, There is ample guest parking which includes a covered carport area.

We are proud New Zealanders. Claire grew up on a dairy farm and trained as a teacher and has recently retired. Her time is now spent supporting family when required, gardening, making jam and chutney from the fruit on site, catching up with friends and hosting.
Alister experienced a range of regions growing up and has a strong general knowledge as a result. He is a civil engineer and has worked in the building industry. Alister is presently endeavoring to reduce his working days and persue new interests. He enjoys the company of others.

Why they chose this property

We chose Drury because it is convenient to amenities and suited the whole family for getting to work and study. A lovely community close to a big city with a rural aspect.

What makes this property unique

Part of the city with a rural aspect makes Amblers Rest a great place to stay. Tuis visit the surrounding trees. You may hear Ruru call at night. Depending on the season and food available you may see Kereru flying by, or feeding in the trees. Pukekos are prevalent, and they can provide entertainment as they run away with fruit in their beak. Pukekos seem to be prolific breeders and have several clutches of chick's during the year.
Auckland Airport is approximately 30 minutes travel, so Amblers Rest is convenient if you are traveling South or want accommodation near the Airport.
The Guest House is family friendly and has space for children to play outside.
