Made for a wonderful weekend away. Host was very thoughtful and communicative. House was larger than we anticipated and could easily accommodate multiple families.
Jill was great in accommodating us even with last minute issues. The kids enjoyed paddle boat, air hockey table and foosball. There was enough space for all and enough sitting space inside and out.

The area/neighborhood was very nice. We liked having immediate access to the lake in the backyard. The house had so much space for all guests. The pictures were outdated so some furniture/appliances were different but seemed newer. There was a hodge podge of dishes, pots and pans, etc. so they had practically everything we needed; however, many of the dishes needed to be cleaned before use. There were a lot of lake “toys” to pick from which we were excited to use but again they needed to be cleaned and some were poor functioning. The biggest hassle was the AC because it didn’t run very well. Some highlights were the DVD players, fire pit area, small beach near by, kids got separate bedrooms, ice machine, lofted area, and the huge master suite. Overall we enjoyed the stay to get away and enjoy the outdoors as a family. With a few updates and fixes a future visit would be fun with even more family tagging along.

Not ready to be a VRBO
This property was spacious however there were many problems. Here are a few items that need to be addressed: no garage bags, unsafe deck, kitchen a disorganized mess with dirty dishes in the cupboards, gas grill did not work properly, the temp gauge didn't work and it was dirty. The front door knob came off and the sliding door downstairs would not lock, The front yard and entry was covered with branches, leaves and garden hoses which we moved. The front picnic table bench was broken. The spiral staircase has a wide gap at the top that small children could fall through. We found a small sharp scissors and a round disc blade in the yard. The refrigerator froze our food which is a hugh waste and it being so far from any store a challenge for menus. I have rented many VRBO homes this was by far the worst experience I have ever had.

Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear you had a frustrating experience, but I really appreciate you bringing these issues to my attention.
To respond to your safety concerns, we are on a contractor's list to have the deck replaced, but he couldn't get to our project until this fall when the house is unoccupied. That being said he did reinforce the deck and did what he could to make sure it was usable and safe until it is redone.
The spiral staircase does have a gap at the top, which is why I have the house listed as not rentable to children under 3. Our options for changing that are minimal due to how the house was built, but I agree I wouldn't have designed it the way it is now.
As far as the other items I was not aware of the cleaning or yard issues and already have reached out to my cleaning crew and lawn crew in order to make sure your concerns are properly addressed. We don't live at the property and can only make the experience better through feedback from our guests.
If you want to contact me directly please use the phone number you were provided at check in, I would be happy to continue the conversation with you. Thank you again for taking time to review the property we certainly want our. guests to have a pleasant experience at the lake.

For the most part I liked the place. It did however actually need to be cleaned better. Laundry in the washer and dryer that was welt and had some mildew on it. The Coffee pots really needed to be deep cleaned which my brother in-law did. Some of the dishes were dirty and needed cleaned.
We did see a few safety items that should really be taken care of. One of the deck chairs really needed to be thrown away, it was one bad sit down away from a lawsuit maybe fall into the fire pit. There are dead ash trees with limbs falling down by the docks. The lint trap was crammed full (fire hazard), my brother in-law noticed this and cleaned it out before something bad happened. Finally the big sliding door on the 2nd level does not appear to be fully attached as we noticed it would slide out some if you used much outward force while opening the sliding door. The big door looked like it needed finished so we assumed it just wasn't finished.
Comfort wise the place was pretty good, upstairs was a bit hot, the master bedroom bed was really soft which made for some lack of sleep.
All in all though for the budget it's worth it just be aware of these few items. I'd wager other places at the lake cost at least twice the price. We enjoyed our stay and hanging out at the campfire having smores in the evenings.

No Wi-Fi is different than no cell service.
The listing indicated ‘no wi-fi’ but that was OK since I have unlimited data on my cell phone. Only Verizon phones worked in the house. I’ve done RAGBRAI 25 times and never had an issue with service. But my phone didn’t work. Glad we didn’t have an emergency.
Only two of the bedrooms are private. The master and the bedroom over the garage that is very nice - but also very separate. It would have been great for teens or a couple, but none of us wanted to be that far from the fun. Two of the bedrooms are open to the living room. And you have to walk through one room to get to another room which makes late-night potty breaks intrusive. The beds were super comfy and the sheets were soft.
There may have been a mix up on our check-in date. We were able to get in with a code we received in a text. But the official email didn’t come until our second day.
The house was not very clean, but it wasn’t horrible. We had to ask for more garbage sacks and they were delivered several hours later. There were plenty of beach towels but no kitchen towels. And no wine glasses. And many missing lightbulbs.
We loved the Lilly pad. The paddle boat was too filthy to use until I scrubbed it. And there was a sharp screw to jimmy-rig the steering system. Very dangerous to have my grand babies on board. I padded it with a towel no one got poked/scratched.
The person I texted with was prompt and polite, so I hate to say so many negative things. But for the price, this home was disappointing.
