There is a terrible musty, humid, moldy smell that punches you in the face when you walk in. Many of the girls we had staying there had to go get a hotel for the night it was so bad. I’m guessing the pool (or something) has a slow leak and it’s seeping into the foundation and is causing it to sink and mold on one side of the house. This is evident in how sloped the floor is, as they have had to prop up the pool table on one side to keep it level. There was hair, both dead and live bugs in the mattress covers and what looked like a collection of hairy lint in one of the beds also. There are bricks in the backyard that are completely loose and are a tripping hazard also.

Hi Crystel,
We are very surprised by these comments, especially considering no such concerns were reported to our team during your stay despite customer service information being provided multiple times before and during check-in.
The estate regularly hosts large groups and sports teams, including your group of approximately 45 guests, and no mold, structural, or foundation issues exist at the property. The comments regarding the home “sinking,” mold in the foundation, or unsafe structural conditions are simply inaccurate and highly speculative.
As is common in Arizona, occasional humidity or odor fluctuations can occur when large groups are constantly moving in and out of the home and pool areas during warmer weather. Had anything been brought to our attention during the stay, our local team would have immediately inspected and addressed it in real time.
The pool table being adjusted for leveling is completely normal and unrelated to any structural issue. Large custom homes naturally settle over time, and professional leveling is standard practice even in multimillion-dollar estates.
Regarding the other comments, the home was professionally cleaned and inspected prior to arrival. Minor outdoor debris or occasional insects can sometimes appear in desert climates, particularly with frequent door traffic from large groups, but we certainly would have addressed any concern immediately had it been reported.
It is also worth noting that there are extremely few private estates anywhere in the Scottsdale/Phoenix area capable of accommodating a group of your size together in one property.
Many groups choose ScottsdaleStays specifically because our estates provide far more space, privacy, and overall value than reserving dozens of separate hotel rooms.
We are glad portions of your group enjoyed the stay and wish you the best in your future travels.

Pictures of the place are better than the place itself. Unfortunately we have noticed broken fixtures in the bathroom, rust on the tub, wall peeling in the bathroom, thermostat was not working properly and the house was not cleaned as we expected. It is a beautiful home but it has not been kept well and needs serious maintenance.

As known in the industry as a Cranky Old Woman. Pays half the nightly rate of an average hotel room in this very coveted area than spends there whole annual vacation pretending to be a professional building inspectors because they can’t afford the restaurants, golf courses or other activities in the area.
To other regular potential guests. This is very simple. This 1.5 million dollar property is an economical way for large groups to be able to afford the stay in this very expensive area. THIS IS NOT THE 4 SEASONS OR RITZ CARELTON.
The house/property is beautiful and we had a wonderful experience! It rained/stormed for a large majority of the time we there, which could have been a bummer, but the house was so spacious and comfy that everyone had a great time regardless. The backyard is stunning - our friends are still talking about it.

Hi Courtney,
Thank you so much for the kind words—we really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience!
We’re so glad to hear that even with the weather, the home still delivered a great stay for your group. That’s exactly what we aim for—comfortable, spacious homes where guests can enjoy themselves no matter what’s going on outside.
And we love hearing that the backyard was a highlight—it’s definitely one of our favorite features too.
We’d love to host you again next time you’re back in Scottsdale!
Best regards,
ScottsdaleStays
Glad you loved the beautiful and comfortable estate. Did not appreciate you having and unauthorized party and having 12-20 extra people at the house. These aren’t night clubs or a commercial Hal’s, there high end residential properties. Well aware you got a heck of a deal on a last minute special that fit you limited budget but you abused our hospitality. We would never have you back.
Great house for larger group of friends visiting for a long golf weekend. Robin was responsive and helpful during our stay !

Marshall, thanks so much for the 5 star review. Your large group was a pleasure to host and welcome back to any of our various estates. Robin & Natasha - Scottsdale Stays.
The hosts of this property charge exorbitant, sometimes undisclosed fees, (100 for sports equipment and 50 for unrequested firewood which they were reluctant to refund). Check-in was delayed 35 minutes due to an wrong door code and unresponsive customer service, forcing us to contact the host directly.Despite paying 300/night to heat he pool (we received a partial refund) it was freezing upon arrival. The propane tank repeatedly ran out and the heater struggled to maintain temp. A separate hot tub also had a musty smell.Cleanliness was appalling. Shower curtain liners were filled with mold, a child found a fake eyelash in their bed, and there were moldy pillows and heavily stained mattresses. The property’s furniture was cheap and uncomfortable, and a full-sized pool table was crammed into an unusable space.Maintenance problems included a missing shower handle, a loose bedroom door handle, and dangerously unsecured exterior bricks that caused injuries to guests. The hosts reluctantly offered minimal refunds despite the issues. We strongly advise avoiding this property and its condescending hosts, who we found to be dishonest and uncaring. This subpar house is not worth the trouble or price.I’m sure the host will clap-back with a snarly response saying how we were horrible guests that are too poor/low class, their property is amazing and none of this ever happened. You can check out the reel of our experience at this dump on Instagram @VRBOHorrorStories.

Thank you for your feedback. We take all guest concerns seriously, but we strongly dispute many of the claims made in this review.
During this stay, our team responded promptly to numerous messages—over a dozen—covering a wide range of minor and routine questions. We made every reasonable effort to assist, including providing partial refunds as a gesture of goodwill, despite disagreement on several points.
The property is regularly cleaned and maintained to a high standard, and we have not received similar complaints from other guests. Any isolated maintenance issue reported during a stay is addressed as quickly as possible.
We strive to provide a positive experience for every guest, but clear and respectful communication is essential. Unfortunately, that was challenging in this case.
We stand by the quality of our home and our commitment to hospitality, and we welcome future guests to review our track record of positive stays.
The property is very beautiful. The amenities allowed for the entire family to stay on property and enjoy without having to adventure into the city.

Backyard is the best part!
We visited during a week of beautiful weather. We enjoyed the pool, the fire pit and the lounging chairs. The inside of the home was a little run down and not very clean. We were able to spend most of our time outside, so that was great! The beds were comfortable.

We Agree, It does have the "Best Backyard" and apologize that home was empty 5 day between stays and a little dusty which is common for in the desert. Very surprised you turned down our offer to have the cleaners sent out immediately though? Glad you had beautiful weather and enjoyed the amazing 7 waterfall pool, the fire pit conversation area and comfortable (and very expensive) beds. A little surprised that you thought the home was a little run down however as the home had a $300,000 complete rip down to studs "new everything" renovation three years ago but luckily the owner is custom home builders....we will have him take a look at the home immediately as this is one of his favorites and the most popular rentals of the ten he owns (some regulars that just left reserved for next year, that we be their 4th year in a row). We will also send one of our crews to the property right away to do some touch ups and maintenance.
The waterfall pool on this property was the amazing feature for our group. We had a fabulous time floating around it after turning noodles into pool chairs. This house easily slept nine women in really comfortable beds and allowed us to dine in or on the patio as well. Spacious and comfortable.

This rental was a lot of fun. Very close to Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tempe. The amenities were wonderful. It would’ve received a full 5 out 5 rating if it weren’t for the dead roaches in 4 different areas inside the house, and a ripped lounge chair.

Glad you had so much fun at the rental and enjoyed the wonderful amenities only found at a 2.5 million dollar estate. Your large younger group may not have realized to shut the doors and take the garbage to the trash cans provided. We also just had the monthly pest control the week before your stay.
No idea about the lounge chair but it was ripped by someone in your group as they were inspected before your arrival.
Hope you grabbed a business card to save on a $800 on a future stay.
The property is stunning and in a really nice neighborhood! There is tons of space for large groups, and so many entertainment areas to play games between the front and backyard! Robin was very easy to work with & made the experience excellent for our annual group trip! The house was spotless as well! The pool did not disappoint, it was amazing & so relaxing! We booked this house and the one next door to house nonprofit staff and board for a working retreat. Everything was perfect! Plenty of space for each person to have their own time and plenty of options for group work. Having everyone nearby saved time and money for our org. This property was great for our group for spring break. We had more than enough room to spread out. The kids used the pool and hot tub every single day, even when the locals were wearing jackets!! We felt the neighborhood was safe and it was quiet at night.

We’re glad the location worked out well for your group and that you were able to take advantage of the hot tub and outdoor patio space. Even when the pool’s a bit chilly, that setup tends to be a guest favorite.
Happy to hear the pre-arrival stocking made things easier too—that’s something we love offering for groups like yours.
We’d love to have you back for your next golf trip to Scottsdale!

We really enjoyed our Spring Break trip here! The backyard space is great. My kids loved the pool, hot tub, and cornhole and bocce games. We ate dinner outside and used the fire pit most nights. The neighborhood is quiet and it was an easy drive to the things we wanted to do in the area. There was plenty of space in the house for us to spread out. A few minor wear and tear issues here and there, but all were typical of a rental property. Overall, the house was well-equipped and clean. We found communication with the property managers to be fantastic - they were very responsive to our requests! This is a great house for a family trip and would also be perfect for a guys' weekend or bachelorette trip.

This place was a good stay in a nice neighborhood. However, it isn't worth the price we paid for it. They make the pool heating process complicated and wanted 350 per day to heat it. You also couldn't choose which days you wanted it heated because the "pool guys don't work on the weekends". In fact neither did their customer service. They literally tell you via platform and signs in the house that there is no customer service available from Friday at 5pm until Monday morning at 8am. I'm not sure how they can get away with this being in the hospitality business myself.

Glad you had a good stay in a nice neighborhood that only 1% of Americans could actually ever afford (National Home Builders Association 2024 Report)
We do spend over $300,000 a year on full time service staff as one of the largest local owners with thousands of 5 star reviews for nearly 15 years? You never reached out once during your 4 day stay
We can only assume you know nothing about pools as most of our guests realize large pools take 3 days just to heat to a swimmable temperature in February. Your going from 35* to 85* (50* if your not good at math).
Sorry your large group could not afford to heat the pool for 4 days of your stay (even though we include the 3 days preheating for free). We actually only charge for the cost of the actually propane required.
All we did was provide you a 9 bedroom 2 million dollar estate for about the same nightly rate of 2 300 foot hotel rooms at The Westin down the road during one of the biggest sports events in the world (Phoenix Waste Management Open 10 minutes away).
Our review should not be on the fact that your extremely large group not being able to afford to heat the pool?
Really amazing how simple some younger people can be instead of a simple "Thank You" for this amazing cost savings format making your trip even possible.

Just “okay”
While the location was good, we found the pictures didn’t match the actual value for the dollar. Prepaid for pool & sauna heat - but wasn’t turned on when we arrived and had to wait 48 hours before they were warm enough to use.
Some of the furniture could use updating. Beds were comfy. Would definitely rent the property again if the price matched the listing. By no means was the house terrible, but for the price paid, we all expected a little more.

Great Owners, But Property Not In Great Condition
First, the property owners are phenomenal with communication during the process and were very responsive. There is plenty of space inside to host, and the pool is the center-point of the property. While the property worked for what we needed, the overall condition of the property was not what we expected, and would most likely be best suited for non-executive-level stays.
Starting with the description as "Paradise Valley Village", please note that this is not in nor close to Scottsdale's Paradise Village.
With that said, the courtyard has a great feel, but the mini-ping pong table is weathered and warping. Inside, the recliners are worn and the headrests are tattered. TV cords are hanging from the TV consoles, and every TV except the main TV was not functional despite multiple attempts to work with the property manager. The pool table is old with only one full size pool cue that had a broken tip. The kitchen was a great size, but the fridge had multiple broken shelves along with mismatched tile. The chairs to the round kitchen table had drywall screws used to hold them together and were falling apart.
Outside, the cornhole boards were missing a bag (not a huge deal). And, while the pool was gorgeous, the pool service dumped in exorbitant amounts of chlorine during one of our days there and told us that we couldn't use the pool for 2-4 hours.
The house looks and feels like a typical flip property with deferred maintenance now creeping in.
Again, the property worked for what we needed, the owners are great with their level of communication, but the condition of the property needs to be addressed for it to earn a 5 star review.
