Stayed here to be in between DC and Annapolis. Nice retreat out of the city but still close to Metro and freeway. Very clean home with easy checkin and checkout.
This place has it all. It is in the perfect location for adventuring around the tristate area. It is very comfortable as it has everything you could want. And you are secluded in the woods for maximum privacy. Also, dixie and teddy are great dogs ::)
Really enjoyed peaceful rural setting. A few other homes visible as you enter from long driveway, but back set back in the woods. Wonderful dark sky for late night walks with dogs. Early morning sunrise over grassy hill. Lots of room for our dogs to run. Cottage was comfortable. We set up portable kennels for our dogs and had plenty of room for them and us. Some reviews were concerned about owners dogs. They would regularly come to greet us, but they knew where their boundaries are and they always stayed on their side of driveway. We kept our dogs on our side of driveway and had no issues whatsoever. Owner guided us to nice large areas on property where we could let our dogs retrieve ball and chase one another.
Place was just what we needed peace and quiet! Wish we asked if pups where actually friendly or not cause for some reason we meet more friendly people than ever this weekend. But awesome rest we needed
Lovely get away in a delightful house. Fun recommendation at Pirate Cove restaurant, which was dog friendly. There was no kindling available to start a fire, but there was wood for the wood stove. There was no oven in the "well equipped kitchen."
It is charming and very private. The location did not work for us and our purpose in Annapolis - to distant. Being in the country is lovely, but the supplies were lacking for that type of location. Or, you need to be made aware that you need to bring shampoo, soap, coffee filters, and other basics. The furnishings were comfortable but not arranged well for relaxation. Lighting was not working in the upstairs bedroom. The bed is unusually high and difficult to get into without a stool. Overall, it would benefit from a thoughtful review of how will my guests live here, will they find a place with coaster to set a drink, is there a light by the chair, etc. The ingredients are there but it is not 5 star just yet.
It was clean and well maintained. The property manager was very nice to work with. The listing made it sound like it was on acreage with access but it only had a small yard. The piano in the pictures is unusable. The owners dogs are the biggest regret. If we wanted to spend any time outside we had to have their dogs barking continuously. My daughter in law unfortunately got bit by one. They are small dogs and it didn’t break the skin but left a bruise. We witnessed the owner intentionally letting them out the minute we pulled in. I will not ever stay there again and feel ripped off for what we actually received.

Vrbo description doesn't tell the whole story
Prospective guests should know more details about the carriage house than mentioned in the vrbo listing.
1) The carriage house lies 0.4 miles from the paved road down a narrow unpaved driveway, past a commercial building and two 'No Trespassing' and one 'Beware of Dog' sign. Some guests may be put off by the entrance.
2) The owner's two feisty terrier dogs are constrained by an underground wire within 50 feet of the carriage house. Our elderly black lab did not consider them friendly.
3) Very dark at night. Light switches are not labeled, and the thermostat lacks instructions. Guests should plan to arrive before dark and reserve time to figure them out. We were fortunate to meet the owner who explained things, but other guests might not.
4) The kitchen lacks a dishwasher or even a drying rack for hand-washed dishes. Also lacks a toaster.
Bottom line: If prospective guests are given the full picture before they reserve and pay for the carriage house, then they are less likely to be disappointed.
My husband and I stayed here 4 nights. It was very quiet (*see note below), probably due to the fact that it sits well off the main road and is surrounded by trees. Feels like "the middle of nowhere" but is actually a short drive to restaurants and shops. We were unfamiliar with the area, but Google Maps led us directly to the house.
The cottage is as described. It was very comfortable for 2 people. The downstairs has one big room that emcompasses the den, dining, and kitchen. Upstairs has the bedroom, bathroom, and washer/dryer. The kitchen lacks a full size refrigerator, but does contain a small fridge (larger than a dorm room size) and a small freezer. However, since the cottage is advertised for couples or small groups, this is adequate for said size.
The owner's house is just next door, which would come in handy were there issues (we did not have any). *Note: the quiet was only interrupted by the two small dogs that greeted us when we entered or exited. Jack Russell (I think), they will bark at you. They are contained by an electric fence, but that boundary runs very close to the cottage parking area (maybe 10-12 ft). I believe they go indoors at night. We were not bothered by their barking (they ceased once we went inside) but it's something to note.
Overall, our experience was very good. We would choose to stay here again.
