*Swimming in the pond is NOT allowed. Ice skating in the winter, on the pond, is permitted based upon the hosts assessment and authorization.
Access to the whole house will be available.
The only areas that will be locked off will be the host`s attached apartment, the pump room, and the garage.
It is politely requested that you don`t park in front of the garage doors - you are welcome to park anywhere else on the property.
A host lives in an apartment attached to the house and will be available should you have any questions or need help with anything during your stay. They are far enough away that you will not hear or see us, and you have the entire house and property to use and treat as your own. They completely respect guest privacy and will not enter the main house during the duration of your stay.
The Carbon Museum (also known as the `Farmers Exchange`) features a diverse array of Carbon and local artifacts. Featuring the “Murder Mystery”, which is a visual interpretation of the John Coward case, an unsolved murder in Carbon during the height of the coal mining era. A heritage garden and a gift shop are also located in this historic building.
Carbon’s geographical situation is a prime spot for many tourists. From rolling hills to deep valleys and open fields, the area is very scenic and popular with photographers. Tourist attractions in the area include Dry Island Buffalo Jump, Horseshoe Canyon, Orkney Lookout Point, Bleriot Ferry area, Keiver’s Campground and Torrington Gopher Hole Museum. Kneehill County is part of the Canadian Badlands tourism group. The county borders the Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller and Rosebud Theatre in Wheatland County.
The towns and villages in the area provide many recreational opportunities including indoor and outdoor swimming pools, indoor and outdoor skating rinks, walking and biking trails, ball diamonds, curling rinks, and many parks and playgrounds. Golf courses in the area include Rosebud, Drumheller, Trochu, Three Hills and Acme.
If you`re looking for a bit of history, in 35 minutes you can be in Drumheller which boasts a wealth of museums and historic sites where you can relive history. As the Dinosaur Capital of the World, Drumheller likes to live up to its reputation with a rich abundance of dinosaur fossils and is home to the world-renowned Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology.
The town of Carbon is only a short walk from the property, with the general store being only a 10 minute walk away. Nearby local restaurants are also within a short walking distance.
Fast food chains such as Subway, Dairy Queen, A&W, Boston Pizza, Pizza Hut, and many more are a short 25 minute drive away in Drumheller. Here you will also find a Walmart, Co-op Home & Agro, Canadian Tire, and grocery stores such as Freson Brother`s, Extra Foods, Sobey`s, and No Frills.
Within easy driving distance of Banff, Calgary, and Red Deer; this area offers a world of startling contrasts as rolling fields suddenly give way to steep, dry coulees ridged with the strata of hundreds of years of erosion by time, wind and water.
We kindly request $79 per guest for any guest over the number of 16. This fee applies over the number of 16 guests. For large events, contact us for special pricing.
We also request $50 per pet per stay.
Be respectful of noise levels after 11:00PM. After this time we ask that you move into the theatre room if you`re going to be playing music, as it is a soundproofed room and will stop noise from traveling.
No smoking in the house. You may smoke outside, but please keep windows and doors closed if you`re in close proximity to the house.
No eating or drinking in the bedrooms.
All dirty dishes must be cleaned upon check-out. We ask that you rinse them, put them in the dish washer, and begin a cycle before you check-out. You may incur an additional charge if this is not done.
Leave the house the same way you found it. Clean up your trash, and leave it in trash bags near the laundry door. Message us if you would like this picked up and removed during your stay.
If you have pets, please keep them off all furniture. We also ask that you don`t allow them to do their `business` on the lawn facing the river. Please take them to the front of the property - somewhere near the trees, or on the grass near the grey canvas sheds, and please pick up after them. A one-time $50 pet fee applies for each pet.
No unauthorized visitors, must check with host beforehand.
You may swim in the pond and use the boat, however please do both responsibly and sober. Children under the age of 16 are to be supervised by an accompanying adult. Skating on pond is only allowed if condition and thickness of ice is verified by hosts prior to use.
Please do not cross Kneehill creek onto our neighbors property. Entering onto it is considered trespassing.
The home features in-floor heating and is set year round to the appropriate temperature. We ask that guests, please, do not adjust any of the thermostats.
