So peaceful and relaxing

This cabin and location were the perfect Thanksgiving getaway to the mountains. The cabin was so cozy and had everything we needed. It was a great way to unplug for ourselves and the kids. The location was perfect for the falls and parks we wanted to visit. Such a great visit!

Beautiful mountain escape

We had a lovely weekend getaway at Laughing Bear Lodge. Super close to Tallulah Gorge and beautiful hiking. The space is small and cozy, but well designed to make the most of it. We were able to cook for 8 in the kitchen and enjoyed the porch and backyard fire pit.

Hide-A-Way in Mountains

Cabin was comfortable for our family of seven with four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Custom paintings by owner hanging over fireplace were gorgeous. Enjoyed s’mores on outdoor fire pit. Close to water falls in Tallulah Gorge & Toccoa Falls.

Stay at this cabin

The place was cleaned and really pretty. My only problems were the place smelled musty and the water smelled so bad i didn’t even want to shower in it. I don’t think i would stay again.

In town for a wedding

I will start by saying that the fresh flowers and fresh eggs were a nice touch, and the bed linens were clean. The surrounding woods were lovely. However, this rental was extremely dirty. When we first stepped inside we were met with a very musty-mildewy smell. It was obvious the home was vacuumed as we could see vacuum lines. However, all around the edges in every room there was thick dust that looked as though it had been there for more than a year. In the lower bedrooms and one of the upper rooms there were MANY cobwebs hanging from the ceiling above the beds. Also in the lower bedrooms the walls were covered in dust. So much so that they were beginning to hang from the wall. It was the worst at the headboard of the bed in the room left of the bathroom. The wood stairs were not swept. There was such a large gap in the door by the kitchen that bugs could come in. There were three large centipedes among other dead and alive bugs. We are campers and we understand living in the woods. But is this home exterminated? If not it should be, because people are paying for a clean home. People may pay for and desire the woods, but that doesn’t mean they desire living in dirt and bugs. The downstairs bathroom fan was full of cobwebs inside and hanging into the inside. The wood above and around the shower stall was full of dust and cobwebs. The water is hard and very smelly and it has stained badly the downstairs shower. This may be unavoidable, however, guests should know this ahead of time and be able to choose if they want to deal with these issues.

Great Cabin for a Weekend in Lakemont

My spouse and I rented this property with some friends over the weekend to attend a destination wedding in Lakemont. The property was clean and met all of our needs! The only reason I did not give a 5 star for location was the difficulty getting to the cabin when it got dark. The narrow, dirt road can be intimidating, but it was worth it in my opinion. Definitely recommend for visiting the area and want a homey cabin to stay at.

Smelly

Ok, I’m giving this cabin a 3 star rating because although our stay was generally positive (we spent most of the day away from the cabin and the cabin had the essentials). The down side: BUGS, BARF SCENTED COUCH, carpet in the bathrooms, and generally dusty space. We, may family, are pretty easy to please. We realize we were staying in a cabin, which is why we were mostly ok with the stink bugs…it’s the woods and it happens. I wasn’t bothered with the carpet all over, but really. The copper scented water bothered me more than my family…but the scent of barf???? No thanks. And when I brought this up the the manager/owner? They said “sorry, we’ll put more attention towards making that area clean for the next guest”…what about us?

Cozy Cabin

We enjoyed our stay at the Laughing Bear cabin. Our intentions were to see Tallulah Gorge, and spend time together, and we succeeded in those. We were warm and comfortable, and the artwork is wonderful. The accommodations were as described, and the water tasted more minerally than sulfurous, so it wasn't as bad as some reviews. The showers even had additional water filters. Go expecting to feel as you're staying on the corner of a property with various other outbuildings. The queen-sized bed in the left downstairs room needs to be replaced because the depression in the middle is just too deep. The kitchen utensils, plates, bowls and pots & pans are very basic. The fireplace was lovely, and thanks for the firewood. Also, thank you for the fresh eggs.

Laughing Bear Lodge not comfortable

This 4 bedroom, 2 bath cabin so close to Tallulah Gorge seemed to be the perfect place, but upon arriving on Friday evening, we found stinkbugs in it. Many. Over the weekend progressively more stinkbugs invaded. They were all over the windows and blinds, flying in our hair, and on the furnishings, on my purse, on a wine bottle, on the cup I’d put on the bathroom sink, and inside a purse in the car when we drove out. We tried to vacuum them, but the vacuum cleaner died, and we found it was full of dust and dirt with a bag inside not even attached, and we found it did not fit. The cabin was old and full of unsealed cracks. The windows weren’t tight. There were no screens. We contacted the manager Saturday, explaining the situation and requested another property to move to. She said no. I requested that she ask the owners, who live on the same driveway, just a stone’s throw away, to come see conditions for themselves, and was told no again. The manager sent a cleaning lady Sunday morning. I told the manager she needed to bring a vacuum, that the one in the cabin had died. The cleaning lady and her husband came with no vacuum. She said she had been told there was a vacuum cleaner in the cabin, and she didn’t have a sufficient vacuum cleaner for the fully carpeted cabin. She did sweep all the edges of the carpet along the wall, sweeping up many dead centipedes and tiny beetles. The window frames had been thoroughly chewed by something. The cleaning lady said the beetles did that. The water in the cabin was strong-smelling sulfur. A large Berkey filter system was on the counter, but after the first evening and next morning it quit working. The cleaning lady’s husband emptied it, finding the water in the top full of debris and floating orange particles which appeared to be rust. After cleaning it still wouldn’t work well. He said the filters were so full and clogged they needed to be replaced. He also reattached the handle on the oven, which fell off as we were trying to fix breakfast when they arrived. The general condition of the cabin was not clean. The ceiling fan, which we didn’t use, was full of dust, and the cleaning lady later found it was broken. We had arrived on Friday evening and spent much of Saturday and Sunday out hiking and other activities, so upon returning in the evenings found the stinkbug infestation was increased and intolerable. I had more to say, but no space. We got a refund for one night and cleaning

Fall break getaway

This was great cabin tucked between the National Forest and a state park. We were a group of 8. Grandparents, parents, and the kids all cozy together in the cabin. We all had a great time enjoying the scenery around us, playing board games, roasting marshmallows for Smores, and venturing to the state park within a mile of the cabin. The property manager checked in with us during our stay to ensure that everything was going well. Will definitely stay again when in the area.

Great weekend family gathering spot!

We arrived to find the perfect spot for our pre-wedding landing, resting, Saturday brunch! We had fun with the four year old adventuring in the yard and swinging on the porch. We were comfortable playing cards round the table and switching to meals with folks spreading out to eat on the porch or at the table. If they will have us we will return for more memory making.

Great cabin, but it's rustic

We loved the location, but I was a little surprised when the cabin didn't have a dishwasher. More importantly, the water can be a little smelly. The owners provide a nice Berkey which takes the smell out, but not everyone would want to deal with using it. Still, if you're good using the Berkey and the smell while showering, this is a great cabin.

Calming Cabin and Beautiful Scenery

We stayed at the cabin to go white-water rafting on a river close by. But we ended up spending most of our time at the cabin because of how cozy and beautiful the scenery was. We say around in the living room and talked. Then did some grilling at night. This trip was very relaxing and we will definitely be staying again in the future!

Relaxing, beautiful cabin and very clean! Beds were comfortable, all the things you you find in your own home. The drive to the cabin is adventurous, (not suitable for street motorcycles) tucked away in wooded area that is refreshing. I can say we have marked this one for another area to revisit!

Dissapointed

This house has multiple issues. 1. Water has a foul sulphur -like smell. Almost smells like reclaimed sewage water 2. Thick old carpeting throughout the house including upstairs bathroom which appeared as though it was vacuumed but there was a dusty smell throughout the house and plenty of dust along edges of carpet and walls, besides carpet is rust brown in color throughout the house, impossible to tell how clean it truly is. 3. Upstairs bathroom had a centipede in it 4. At the end of my stay within a few hours bites were starting to show up all over my back and chest. Multiple classic, very itchy bed bug bites. My spouse and kids developed these too. This experience has left us extremely disappointed. 5. Tried to reach owner prior to our arrival letting us know what time we would be arriving, Owners did not respond until next am. I would surely recommend looking for a cleaner place.
