Come to our Bearadise Den and build memories with your family in our condo as we have for the past 17 ski seasons and summers. The condo has two bedrooms with comfortable queen size beds . Both have remodeled full bathrooms attached. There is a modern full kitchen that was renovated in November, 2020 including full size refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave and dishwasher with all necessary cooking and eating utensils Including Cutco knives.
You can see the slopes from the balcony right off the living room. Relax in the living room next to the real woodburning fireplace or watch a movie on the 42” Flat screen TV. This unit is on the top floor so it is very quiet.
When you are ready to go out, walk 200 yards to the high speed 6 pack lift that will take you to the top of Durango Mountain. Enjoy the typically quiet slopes on your skies or snow board. Take beginner to expert ski or board lessons for yourself and have your children learn from top notch teachers.
The Bears Den is available to watch your infants and toddlers while you ski. At the end of the day, relax at the Purgatory Lodge at the base or enjoy the shops. For more private relaxation, sit next to a real woodburning fireplace in the condo or settle into the indoor hot tub located just down the hall. You can watch a DVD or VHS movie or surf the internet on wireless broadband from the condo.
For something different, go snowmobiling in the backcountry from walking distance to the condo or go tubing at the base of the mountain in the afternoon and evening. You can cross the street to the Nordic center for miles of cross country trails. If you're really adventurous, you can sign up for snowcat skiing that leaves from the main lodge.
Summertime is great as well with tons of hiking, biking, fishing, and sight-seeing options. There are fun activities at the resort. The Durango-Silverton Train is a huge hit as well.
There is definitely plenty for everyone to enjoy. Park your car when you arrive and relax. Everything you need is within a few minutes walking distance.

About the host
Hosted by Rick Hornack
We are currently a family of 5. Rick, Maria, Daughters age 22 and 20, a son 17. I have been skiing and boarding at Purgatory since 1983. As a family we have logged over 150 trips to this place since we bought here in March of 2003.
Why they chose this property
We love everything thing about the Durango area in the winter and the summer. There is world class skiing, boarding, biking, hiking, fishing, etc! If you love the outdoors you could never be bored in this area.
What makes this property unique
Great ski mountain that is relatively undiscovered. Because it is more difficult to get to by plane than other resorts near large cities like Denver and Salt Lake City, lift lines are small so you can spend more time carving and less time riding lifts. There is a forest service road in the summer that takes you straight from the resort to amazing back country areas in just about any ordinary vehicle. The town of Durango is a great 1880's tourist town while also being a "real town" with businesses like Home Depot, Wall Mart, Ace, etc. More restaurants per capita than San Francisco we are told.
