About this property
The Lakeside Overlook - Close to Everything!
Summary: Located in the heart of Tenmile Lakes Rec area, on the now permanent ATV route between town and the dunes, The Lakeside Overlook is the perfect place to stretch out and relax. Beautiful territorial / township views, atv/utv accessible, and walking distance to dunes, beaches, hiking, fishing, shopping... And less than a block from Lakeside Municipal Airport. Oregon's most beautiful beaches are all within 45 minute drive, and the best bass fishing on earth is half a mile away from my front door!!
The Space: wide open floorplan, not too crowded or cluttered. New incredibly comfy hide-a-bed replaced the futon recently. Plenty of room to stretch out or host company.
Guest Access: Guests get the entire upper level, including the huge upper level overlook deck! I also have a small patch of yard next to the guest carport. the space is solely accessible utilizing stairs at the back of the property, off the carport which is accessible via the alley.
The Neighborhood: Downtown Lakeside is quiet yet active. Everything you need is available locally, and major shopping centers are minutes away. I am located in the heart of Lakeside, which to be honest is not the most amazing town to look at.. but it is the most amazing town!
Getting Around: Bring your ATV / UTV when staying at the Lakeside Overlook, because I am located directly on Lakeside's designated route to the dunes. But keep a car handy for the trip to the beach or any of the many fishing and hiking spots within a few minutes drive!
Other Things to Note: I have worked hard to create and provide an amazing space and experience for my guests, despite a couple life changing setbacks. I strive to get my guests a safe, clean, and comfortable five-star experience every time.
Interaction with Guests: Guests are welcome to knock on the downstairs door, or call my contact numbers. On the rare occasion I'm not on site, my property manager is right next door. I'm equally comfortable treating you as my best friends coming to visit, or leaving you completely alone to enjoy your time without my interference.

We really enjoyed our stay. The spacious one bedroom apartment was perfect for our business getaway. The owner was available and responsive to questions.

Thank you, Diane! It was a pleasure to host you, I hope to see you back again!
Very surprised at all the amenities included, had everything we needed to a nice stay. The couches were very comfortable for late night movie watching. The place seemed very spacious and well kept. Thanks Aaron!

Thank you Aaron, it was a pleasure to host you guys and I hope to come back. I am continually making small improvements as I can, the new sleeper sofa in place of the old futon seems to have been a huge upgrade and I hope to do a lot more before the next time you're here. Thanks again!
Our friends were camping at Ten Mile Lake. It was close and convenient to them. Property was comfortable. Parking was well lit and easy

Quiet and Private
Although the property looked a little run-down on the outside, and the driveway to the car port was a little overgrown and sketchy, everything was up to date and decently clean once you stepped in the door.
We didn't spend a lot of time at the property while we were in the area, as we were out and about exploring, but when we came back it felt comfy enough to relax in, and had plenty of in-house equipment to prepare and clean up anything we needed.
Comfortable Space with Quick Access to Coast Adventures
My husband and I frequent travelers to the Oregon Coast and we were surprised to find out that we'd never been to Lakeside. Aaron's second story apartment is nestled in the town of Lakeside and is walking distance to local restaurants (closed now due to covid), groceries, and sport shops.
We loved that the space was dog friendly for our two Border Collies. Even the neighbors were welcoming of our furry "kids". The apartment is spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed our evenings cooking in the nicely outfitted kitchen and watching movies on the big screen tv.
The apartment is a short hop away from the ocean, Reedsport, Coos Bay/North Bend, and Winchester Bay. Maybe on our next visit we'll check out the nearby dune buggy rentals on the Oregon Dunes.
Aaron was super friendly & easy to communicate with. He lives in the space below the apartment and was sensitive regarding any noise he might make during a Saturday evening with friends. We found the apartment well buffered and carryover noise was *not* a problem.
If you're looking for a quiet, comfortable space that is a good launch pad for all sorts of coast adventures, Aaron's place is perfect!

Filthy outside, inside average
The host was at first difficult to reach but nice once we messaged and he called me. He had his cleaner let me in. She brought additional linens and towels for family. The washcloths were actually microfiber cleaning clothes. The sheets and pillows smelled very musty/rancid so we placed our own clothing rolled up and used that for pillows to protect our faces. There were approx 8 full black garbage bags of trash, some broken open, adjacent to the outside stairs leading up to the unit which is on the second floor. Host said he would move them the next day but they remained for the 4 days we were there. The yard and neighboring area smelled strongly of dog poop. The lower level of the building has an open door which remained open all day and night for our entire stay. There is a dog that appears in and out of that door. I don’t know if there were any humans wandering in or out. The open door is not within a secured area so it was open to anyone and being right below us
made us feel insecure. The carport was loaded with broken equipment, broken hoses, trash, and, sporadically a very sick looking and/or poorly fed cat. Our parking spot was to pull up as close as we could to that trash filled carport. Inside was somewhat clean and the host had done some decorating to try to make it pleasant. The outside of the building structure itself is badly in need of cleaning and painting.

Thank you for your review. It feels a bit scathing, But I am extremely regretful that my unit did not meet your expectations. I have taken your criticisms very seriously, and have taken steps to make remediations. Let me address those quickly. First, I have replaced my management and cleaning and maintenance team. After you left, and left this review, I went and inspected the work being done and did indeed find that the crew in place at the time of your stay had not met my needs or requirements after your departure. They are gone, I have an amazing team in place now, and some safeguards to make sure that they are held accountable.
Secondly, the cat... He's my old boy that I've had since he was 4 days old. He's now 20 years old and very much loved and well cared for. But he's 20 years old. I jokingly refer to him as my carport guard.
The dog is my dog, and she likes to go in and out. My yard is a little smaller than it should be for a dog of her size, which makes it a challenge to keep clean but I do the best I can. I have since hired a gardener to help me with that. I do leave my back door open from the time I get up to the time I go to bed, because I like having the air flow and the weather here on the coast is perfect for that.
Third, I have been very busy all summer with projects on the property, including the construction of the deck out front which was underway when you were here. That wasn't garbage, that was materials that you saw out front. I was also repairing my car in my driveway, so you may have seen some tools and what to an untrained eye may have appeared to be " mess " but that's what that was. That project is also done now.
Fourthly, as to the cleaning and painting, the apartment was freshly painted two weeks before you arrival. We do collect a lot of dust here, and I understand with the cleaning crew being under expectation, it looked like they hadn't dusted the moldings for a while, which absolutely disregards my expectations.. part of the reason they were replaced. I am continually upgrading the property, and at the same time I've been in a 3-month project to fix damage done by a renter I had through the winter. The damage from that renter is actually a large part of the reason why the apartment had to be freshly painted very shortly before your arrival. The bags of trash are referred to were actually mixed stuff of theirs, and yes it has taken me a while to get rid of a literal ton. Thank you again, I appreciate your candor.

Apartment was not as listed in ad
We arrived and called owner. He sent his "property manager" to let us in. She walked me thru an ankle high grass field. She told me if we couldn't get into the 1 parking space because it is extremely small, we could park on the tall grass field. We have a small pickup and it was really difficult to park. The area around the parking was filled with trash, old appliances and pulled weeds. At the top of the stairs was the deck. The ad said there was patio furniture and beach chairs. The only chairs they had were cheap plastic cracked and dirty chairs. No patio furniture, and no beach chairs. Ok inside the kitchen barely had enough pots and pans ( a review said it was a fully stocked kitchen)to make a meal, also only 4 sets of utensils as well as dishes and most were severely chipped. There were no kitchen towels, 1 &1/2 rolls paper towels go quickly when you use them for drying everything. The bathroom towels were so difficult to get dry with. The bed pillows were so small and flat the cover was nearly twice as large as the pillow, the sheets were extremely cheap quality. The ad said there were 360 degree views. Well the views were of the alley, peoples trash cans, peoples houses , trailers and the road. We have rented a lot of VRBOs before for around the same price range. We would have rather stayed at a motel 6 as the price was extremely high for the apartment and its condition. Misrepresentatuon of property and surroundings. We were extremely disappointed in this property , the ad was so misleading, and we ended up leaving 1 day early. I would not recommend this property to anyone.

Thank you for all your feedback, sandy, I sincerely appreciate it. The grass lot next door was a bit overgrown, it hadn't been mowed for about a week. I apologize for that. The brand new sheets on the bed are 1500 thread count sheets and they weren't cheap, but I'm sorry you felt that they were. I am really disappointed that you were disappointed, and yes well the wind did destroy the patio furniture recently, we have since replaced it. It sucks that I didn't get that done before you got here, and I understand your disappointment and frustration with that as well.
When you left today early, you indicated to me that it was because your geriatric dog was having a hard time with the stairs. I guess it's difficult for some people to just be honest. Sorry you had a bad time, hope your next adventure is more satisfying and to your liking.
We liked the big open space and the tucked away parking. The upstairs deck was nice for fresh air relaxing. Property owner was great and available if needed. We loved the extras like the kuerig and fryer. We plan to return.
Everything we needed and more. The surround sound for tv was excellent! Bed so comfortable. We made Christmas dinner and everything we need was there plus a Air fryer!
I wish I could post photos. Upon arrival, the neighbor came out and showed us where we were expected to park. I almost turned away. The location shares an entrance with a trailer park. The parking spot is ridiculous, if you can get in it. The neighbor also informed us we would have to accommodate a housing inspector during our stay because it can not be rescheduled. And informed us of the dishwasher being broken. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN MESSAGED BEFORE WE BOOKED. Then there's about 7 bags of garbage in the carport, at the bottom of the stairs to access the apartment. You can also see broken appliances, plumbing garbage, and pot plants. At the top of the stairs, the deck was in bad shape. The chairs are still broken and tipped over. (Previous review from May 2021 someone mentioned they were broke but owner said they had since been replaced, LIES.) There's a cigarette ashtray with ashes from previous renters. The front door had marks as if someone broke in to it, multiple times. Upon entering the apartment "with 360' views" it smelled liked lysol spray. 360 views of trailers, garbage, poodle dog barking, and rotting roofing. Nothing grand about the views that it is advertised as. The apartment itself was clean. About a 1970s original futon in the living room. Super old and uncomfortable. The bed in the bedroom was ridiculously soft and you dropped about 6 inches upon sitting on it. (I'm a small woman). Previous reviews were correct. Cheap sheets, bed in a bag cheap comfortable, and Walmart cheap towels. No shampoo or soap in the bathroom, so be prepared to bring your own. We left 2 soda cans rinsed out by kitchen sink and woke up to an ant problem. We will not be booking here again. Trashy outside, cute inside. Comfortable beds and quality of materials really matter when you're looking for a home away from home. Here is an honest review, let's wait for the reply ;]
The location was perfect for our stay. The property was clean and quiet. The dishwasher was broken and the owner was ready to take a whole day to get parts. We told him we could hand wash a few dishes, so service on issues I rate as top notch. Absolutely would stay here again.
Was perfect for my husband -he is not fussy
liked the tv offerings on his evenings …
Very comfortable …
Unfortunately previous horror renters had vandalized & stolen a few things
No Fault of the property owner
Overall a fine place to stay
Top notch service and location! We rented this house in Lakeside to going fishing at 10 mile lake for the weekend. It was a great price and premier location, right in the heart of town. Close Walking distance to store, lake, beach. The living area was very nice, and the outside deck was awesome in the sun. Check In And out was fast and easy. I would definitely recommend this house when staying in Lakeside! Thanks again!
