About this property
Comfy Cottage in Historic East Poultney
The Cottage was built in 1910 as a “Mother in Law” house. It is a small, yet very cozy 2 bedroom home. The shower is constructed from local Vermont slate. All the amenities of home. WiFi and cable.
The Cottage is located in historic East Poultney next to the old Poultney schoolhouse (now historical society). Slate Valley hiking/bike trails surround the area. About 1 mile to the town of Poultney, which has stores, shops, restaurants and a Pub. The sidewalk starts in front of the cottage which leads directly to town. Great for a walk, jog or bike ride. Pico, Killington and Bromley Mountains all less than an hour drive. 3 miles away from Lake St Catherine and under 10 miles to Lake Bomoseen. There are 3 Golf Courses in the area. 1. Lake St Catherine Country Club is a 5 minute drive (Poultney, VT)
2. Milestone Golf Course is 4 miles away (Hampton, NY)
3. Bomoseen Golf Club is 11 miles away (Bomoseen, VT)
The Cottage is in the heart of the Historic District, which encompasses the historic center of the rural village of East Poultney, Vermont. The district is centered on the triangular green at the center of the village (across the street from the front yard) and was developed mainly from the late 18th through mid-19th centuries, producing a village with strong Federal and Greek Revival architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. The Cottage is right next door to the old Poultney Schoolhouse which is now the Poultney Historical Society building. Tours of select buildings are given by appointment only through the Poultney Historical Society.
This is the perfect area to ride a bicycle. The sidewalk starts right out by the front lawn, and continues down all the way to Poultney. There are plenty of local bike and hiking trails. For more trail information please visit https://slatevalleytrails.org/bike
Pets are allowed for an additional fee and the guest must ensure that they pick up after the animal inside and outside. No pets on the beds or furniture. Pets must also not be left unattended and free to roam in the home. They must be in an appropriate crate or equivalent if the guest will be leaving for short amounts of time without the animal, and also at night.
