About this property

Jailer`s Cottage | 130-Year-Old Gem | Sleeps 12

The Jailer`s Cottage: Historic Charm on Over an Acre

Welcome to our enchanting turn-of-the-century home in the quiet, quaint town of Spring City. Sitting on over an acre next to the 165-year-old rock jailhouse (still intact!), this unique 130-year-old cottage offers authentic charm and modern comfort for your Central Utah getaway.

The Space:

This spacious home features 4 bedrooms including a large loft with 5 beds, a cozy living room, and a generous kitchen—plenty of room for family and friends to spread out and relax.

Sleeping Arrangements (Sleeps 12-14):
• Sarah`s Room: Queen bed (sleeps 2)
• Claire`s Alfred Owl Room: Double bed (sleeps 2)
• Two Sister`s Hideout: Queen bed + twin bed (sleeps 3)
• The Loft: 5 twin beds, 2 fold-out sleepers (sleeps 5-7)

Bed linens and bath towels provided for all guests.

About the Bathroom:

For over 60 years, large families used the existing outhouse and wash tub. A pink bathtub was added around 1950, followed by a toilet and small sink a few years later. Today, you get to experience this piece of history as it has been for the past 70+ years - a charming reminder of simpler times.

Outdoor Space & Parking:

Expansive grounds perfect for parking, yard games, and gatherings. RV-friendly with dedicated parking space, full hookups, and sewer connection available (additional fees apply to cover power, water, and sewer expenses).

Location Highlights:

Just steps from Spring City`s treasures:
• 2 blocks from Horseshoe Canyon Road
• 3 blocks from Old Schoolhouse Museum
• 3 blocks from City Park featuring playground, large rotunda fire pit, endless lawn, baseball field, and covered pavilions
• Short drive to Mount Pleasant and Ephraim
• 17 miles (20 minutes) to the beautiful Manti Temple and Temple Hill

Perfect For:

Family Reunions: Spacious layout and outdoor areas ideal for large gatherings near all local historical sites.

Hunters: Minutes from some of Utah`s best hunting locations.

Writers & Artists: Spring City`s quiet, somewhat secluded setting offers unique scenery and endless inspiration.

Nature Lovers: Amazing wildlife abounds, and with so few street lights, stargazing on clear nights is spectacular. You may never want to leave!

Nearby Adventures:

Palisades State Park (30 minutes): Enjoy paddle boats, paddleboarding, fishing, beach picnicking, and the stunning Palisades Golf Course. Some of the most gorgeous scenery in the county.

Guest Access:

You`ll have full access to the entire home, parking areas, and the complete one-acre parcel with plenty of yard space for gatherings.

You`ll receive a message with a link to our Welcome Guide 5 days before arrival. The guide includes home information, directions, WiFi details, and complete check-in/check-out instructions. Search and Rescue training

We needed to have a place with at least 6 separate beds. I didn’t realize we would only have 1 bathroom, but it wasn’t a big deal and the character and charm was amazing. Had the best kitchen utensils I’ve ever seen for a vacation rental. Was fun to stay here and it met our needs.

Quaint and comfortable

We enjoyed our short stay on this property. It was just our family of 6 so we had enough room. It should be noted that there is only one bathroom, no half baths. It was a minor inconvenience. The house is well stocked with things you'd need. If you are staying in the summer months, get the ac units going upstairs when you arrive because it can take a while to cool the rooms off, especially the loft. I always felt the owners were there to help should I have needed it.

Disliked: Amenities, property conditions & facilities
Our stay was miserable, after renting property that was advertised as having air conditioning for the 1st week of August, upon check in discovered that only 1 bedroom downstairs had a window unit. So the entire downstairs was stifling hot, and impossible to enjoy. The upstairs loft area was too big to cool with its window unit, and made sleep impossible even directly in front of window unit. Had it been fall or spring, it might have been ok but summer there was miserable. Upon checkout we were charged for and accused of damages we didnt cause, and VRBO was totally worthless and lack of customer support was shocking. Never again.

Perfect home base!

We came down with some friends and spent a lovely weekend at the property. We had a great time biking around town and exploring. The house had enough room for everyone and everything was well organized and stocked. We would love to come back again.

Charming and spacious

When you first roll up with ten people you can help but think "theres no way we'll all fit" and you'll be wrong. The two bedrooms downstairs are literally from another century but still big enough and very comfortable. The two rooms upstairs are huge and perfect for a big group of kids. The kitchen table easily seats 8 adults. Everything is comfortable and completely charming. Go for a walk around the town. Worth the visit
