About this property

La Paisibilité - Mazille

Authentic 19th-century Burgundian farmhouse nestled on a unique, historic property (formerly a vineyard), featuring a 7x4m swimming pool (shared by the two gîtes) and a pétanque court, located 9 km from the renowned abbey town of Cluny (all amenities available). A charming rural hamlet nestled on a south-facing hillside in the heart of the rolling Cluny countryside, bordering meadows and a vast forest, in a bucolic setting of preserved nature and greenery, protected as a Natura 2000 site for the quality of its ecosystem. Within a peaceful & picturesque typical village (Cluniac Site) nestled on the routes of the Romanesque churches circuit & several marked footpaths in green walks (a very rich network of similar hiking trails winding between vineyards & open nature to be discovered in the surrounding area), 1.5 km from the GR76 (Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle), 6 km from the greenway (and its remarkable Tunnel du Bois Clair located at 9 km, the longest former railway tunnel in France open to a Greenway with its 1.6 km), 6 km from the renowned GMT mountain bike route (Grand Tour du Massif Sud Bourgogne) and 9 km from the wine route & the first vineyards of the famous Val Lamartinien neighbouring (named after the famous French poet and writer born in the area). An exceptionally privileged location in the heart of the Clunisois-Tournugeois region (designated a "Land of Art and History") and the Mâconnais region, bordering the Charolais-Brionnais region (also designated a "Land of Art and History") and the upper Beaujolais (numerous vineyards and wine routes to explore), not far from the Rhône and Ain departments. Ideal for easy exploration (RCEA access 3 km away): 21 km from the scenic gem of the Roche de Solutré (designated a "Grand Site de France"), 26 km from Mâcon (access to the A6 and A40 motorways / Mâcon Loché TGV station 22 km away), 39 km from Charolles, 34 km from La Clayette, 35 km from the Touroparc Zoo animal park, 42 km from Paray-le-Monial and 50 km from Tournus. The two cottages on the property (including cottage no. 1946) can be rented together, accommodating up to 12 people (with the added bonus of a large 90m² reception room). A unique and surprising place to stay, perfect for both young and old, with a lovely garden! An authentic, typical 19th-century Burgundian farmhouse, fully restored and steeped in history (formerly a wine estate), nestled in the heart of a small rural hamlet, bordering woods, meadows, and pastures (with the famous gentle Charolais cattle as its privileged neighbors). A pleasant, unspoiled rural setting, nestled on a south-facing hillside beneath the wooded ridges of the vast Trois Monts state forest, a magnificent natural wilderness protected as a "Natura 2000 Zone" and crisscrossed by marked hiking trails. Just a stone's throw from the heart of the peaceful village of Mazille, a "Cluniac Site" rich in notable heritage (11th-century Romanesque church listed as a historical monument, 11th-century priory listed as a historical monument, Celtic menhir, 13th-century Deanery of the Monks…), also known for its Carmelite convent ("the Carmel of Peace", listed as a historical monument), with its highly unusual modernist architecture (the work of a student of Le Corbusier), this unique 1-hectare property includes a swimming pool, an outdoor spa (5-person capacity), a pétanque court, a chicken coop, several terraces (one by the pool and a shaded "pergola" style terrace under a trellis covered in greenery), and a lawned garden with a small orchard (apple, cherry, plum, and kiwi trees… / fruit picking possible). A large private balcony-terrace off the gîte offers a beautiful view of the forest. Composition: House comprising 2 gîtes + owners' accommodation + 90m² reception room on the ground floor (accessible only when both gîtes are rented together). Wi-Fi (fiber optic). Oil-fired central heating. Shared washing machine (in the ground floor living room). Gîte on the 1st floor (shared entrance from the ground floor reception room): living room/kitchen/lounge, 2 bedrooms (one with a double bed 140x190cm and a single bed 90x190cm / the other with a double bed 140x190cm and a single bed 90x190cm), bathroom (bathtub), separate WC. Private balcony/terrace. Shared grounds with swimming pool (7x4m / 1.70m deep) + shared 5-person outdoor spa + shaded terrace (under a pergola) + pétanque court. Private parking. All amenities 9 km away (including supermarkets).
