The Cabin on Bear Creek is located in Ruidoso’s historic Upper Canyon on the banks of Rio Ruidoso. Feel the stress melt away as you listen to the river’s gentle flow, feel the breeze pass through the soaring pines, and see deer walk through the yard. Abundant windows, a covered porch, and a hot tub let you choose how to absorb the Ruidoso experience. This renovated cabin balances a classic mountain feel with modern touches and conveniences to ensure a memorable vacation experience.
If you are looking for the classic Ruidoso “feel”, then The Cabin on Bear Creek is a perfect choice. The cabin is ideally located on the banks of Rio Ruidoso in scenic Upper Canyon for your "glamping" getaway. River tranquility. Towering, singing pines. Deer and seasonal elk. Hummingbirds. Nature truly is the best medicine, and the Cabin on Bear Creek lets you absorb it all – whether that is from the covered porch, the hot tub, or through its numerous windows.
On the interior, you will find that the cabin was renovated to include modern conveniences without sacrificing the coziness of a mountain cabin. The living room features a wall of river-facing windows to take in the views no matter the weather. A fireplace will keep you warm as you watch the 65"LED television equipped with Hulu services, play a game of foosball, or simply catch a nap.
The kitchen and dining area features rustic ceiling beams and more river-facing windows, offers a natural gas range, microwave, oversized French-door refrigerator, and dishwasher. Enjoy an abundance of granite countertops as you prepare your meals in the fully equipped kitchen, including a Kitchenaid mixer. Feel free to use the washer and dryer for those unplanned laundry needs. For those who like to grill, there is a propane grill and a Traeger pellet grill (must supply your own pellets) to demonstrate your expert skills. Once the food is ready, enjoy outdoor and indoor dining locations – the inside dining room, the covered porch, or the picnic table.
After a long day of golfing, skiing, hiking, or shopping, head to the backyard to being your recovery and share some stories. Turn on the string lights to create your ideal atmosphere. Connect your phone to the outdoor speakers (Bluetooth connection; be respectful of neighbors and Village quiet times). Sit back in an Adirondack chair by the river or relax in the hot tub.
When it is time for rest, the sequestered primary bedroom offers a king-sized bed, gas fireplace, and smart TV with Hulu service. The en-suite bathroom welcomes you with a heated tile floor, oversized shower, and plenty of vanity counter space. Linens, hairdryer, and basic toiletries are provided to lighten your suitcase load.
On the opposite side of the cabin, there are two additional bedrooms. There is a river-facing bedroom with a king-sized bed and more river-side views. The third bedroom provides four twin-sized beds – two side-by-side and two in a bunk configuration. Both bedrooms are equipped with a wall-mounted smart TV and Hulu service. These bedrooms share a bathroom offering heated floors, a tub/shower, and a large vanity. Linens and basic toiletries are provided.
This is a non-smoking property - inside and outside.
Flood Risk: Portions of Upper Canyon and the larger Ruidoso area are subject to flash flooding as a result of the 2024 South Fork fire. Flash flood warnings and events for Upper Canyon are not unforeseen during the summer monsoon season; as such, all reservation policies apply in the absence of a federal natural disaster designation. Most flood events are minor nuisances that temporarily restrict bridge access, but large events can have a more significant impact. Always monitor weather conditions and public alerts (Village of Ruidoso - Emergency Info). For awareness, flood waters have never touched the cabin. We've been renting homes in Ruidoso for over 10 years, sometimes in the summer and winter, and this is the first time we've rented the same property twice! The outdoor space is unmatched, and the way the indoor spaces are divided allows for some privacy between the kids and adults. The kitchen is large and fully stocked, and the master bath is so spacious. We love being by the river and watching the wildlife walk by. We'll be back again next year!
We have stayed in Ruidoso annually for several years and this property was the best we have ever stayed in. The owners were so helpful and kind. The appliances were new and made for a wonderful week of cooking with plenty of space in the kitchen. The water is very close with large windows so that if you have children you can keep an eye on them easily from the kitchen. The property was very private and had a great space inside and out. We will be visiting this property again.
We really enjoyed staying at the cabin. It was very clean and welcoming! It was a very restful, fun weekend- we enjoyed the River and the covered porch.
The only negative thing was the guest bathroom had a sewer smell.
We were first timers to the area. Driving in, the neighborhood was way more populated than we expected. Once we got to the cabin we were pleasantly surprised to find that even in densely populated area the cabin was situated in a way that made it feel very private. You are 20ft from the river. We had deer and elk in the yard every day. A lot of the cabin feels recently renovated. I think the bathroom floors were heated but we never figured out how to work them 🙃 everything we needed was there - trash bags, pellets for the traeger, foil , dish wear and dish soap ect. Only real cons were the living room furniture is pretty dated and the dishwasher wasn’t working. Overall a very enjoyable stay. One of the very best cabins we spotted in this area of the river
We fully enjoyed our stay! The location was great and we loved sitting on the covered patio watching the deer. The kids enjoyed playing in the creek. Highly recommended!
