About this property

Your private cove awaits! Recharge and reconnect on Lake Tillery.

Birch, please! is clean, quiet and ideally-situated between city amenities and Uwharrie trails. A tree-mendous property you will be re-leafed to find. A re-tree-t you would be stumped to find better. When you leaf us, you'll pine. We might be a-corny, but ash anyone, we're very poplar. But seriously....

Enjoy hot tub, ample parking, full-sized laundry, free wifi and streaming and a fenced yard at your home-away-from-home. Unplug on the water with kayaks, pedal boat and floating. Unplug on land with yard games, books and puzzles and gardens for contemplation. We are a forest-inspired space, with natural textures and elements and particular emphasis on the white birch.

Sunny basement walk out in shared building boasts a modern kitchen with brand new AC, full-sized electric range, microwave and dishwasher. The entire downstairs and fenced yard is yours, and private. Just minutes to trail heads (Uwharrie 5 miles, Morrow 6.8 miles) or watch deer, birds and beaver from your own patio. Enjoy twinkling light show as you relax in the covered hot tub. Hot tub pH and chemical balancing performed weekly with near religious zeal.
Hoses provided to clean off your mountain bikes, OVH rides and muddy boots after a fun day shredding trail.
And if you prefer more genteel activities, we are only a few miles away from local vineyards, brewpubs, restaurants and the Albemarle social district.

We have over 160 feet of lake shore at the end of a cove. Five kayaks, a 5-person pedal boat, PFD in various sizes and inner tubes provided. Pontoon and bass boats usually fit at the dock. Lot is gently sloped, with no stairs or cliffs to navigate like elsewhere on the lake. Host feeds fish each night. Feel free to join in!

Ample parking just steps to your private entrance. Exterior video security ensures your vehicle and personal safety. The suite has a few stairs to enter. Inside is one level, but not wheelchair accessible.
No smoking anything, anywhere on property strictly enforced.

Yes, the entire place is private, but we share a roof. The entire downstairs is yours, but it’s bright and well-lit, not a basement. So yes, the owner might be on site, but you never have to see me. We don’t share anything but the dock, and I avoid it if you’re using it. Again, sunny walk out/ first floor apartment.

Your pets are always welcome. Small fee per night for extra cleaning required. I don’t want to be one of those places that fees you for everything, but pets are special and when I travel with my fur-babies I expect this. Documented service animals always welcome at no charge. ESA must be under control at all times, never left alone and be fully house broken. Failure to comply will result in forfeiture of deposit and reporting to hosting platforms for fraud.

Special note about holiday bookings: New Years, Christmas, Labour Day, Memorial Day, July 4, Thanksgiving, Valentines Day holidays will have a STRICT cancelation policy. You will be notified before booking that your request falls into this category.

We try to stagger all maintenance and lawn care between guests to optimize the tranquility of the suite. Depending on weather, length of stay and random luck, some routines may have to be conducted while you are visiting (weekly hot tub test for instance). If we have to intrude on your space in any way, we promise to give ample warning. In case of lawn maintenance, we attempt to get it all done while you are out exploring the area. This is not always possible and may result in a short period of noise. Thanks for understanding.

About the host

Hosted by lynn hall

Host profile image
I'm an avid explorer and can be as happy in my back yard as on the other side of the planet. I love natural spaces and spend all time possible outdoors - preferably on sun-dappled trails. Becoming a host seems natural because I have benefited so deeply from others' hospitality. I built, decorated, manage and even clean this property. In fact, I live upstairs. I will probably not be home during your stay, but I am always available.

Why they chose this property

I've lived in several provinces and states, and have visited every continent. I love to wander. This location struck me as special from the first time I saw it. Come share the house and see for yourself! The whole first floor is yours.
I designed the space in recognition of the solitude and beauty of a northern birch forest. It is far too warm to grow the bright white trees here, so I "imported" my own through wall art. As much as I love nature, I know guests need a designated WiFi connection, huge smart TV, down duvets, natural light, lots of space, full-sized washer and dryer and real crystal champagne flutes. A little glamor with your nature! You can have both here: proximity to the real world and a quiet retreat until then.

What makes this property unique

The property sits at the confluence of three little rivers, just as it sits at a unique confluence of amenities. I am surrounded by a small town, a state park, a National Forest and you can get to mountains, the beach or a major airport in a couple hours.
Unlike so many properties on Lake Tillery, it is quiet and set apart from the neighbours. It is across from a conservation area, so more trees to look at than houses. It gently slopes to a quiet cove so you won't have the constant inundation of noisy engines.
Have a camp fire. Feed the turtles and birds. Watch the bunnies. Take a hike. This is where you recharge and reconnect.
