The Lake Escape is a charming getaway nestled adjacent to Tygart Lake State Park: a retreat that offers year 'round opportunities. This cottage is private yet steps away from the features of the park. Our property is situated just 0.8 mi from the Lake Marina, 0.4 mi from the swimming area, 3 mi from the Lodge Restaurant, and adjacent to hiking, biking, picnic areas and playground. Whether you are looking for peace and relaxation or prefer outdoor adventure the Lake Escape welcomes you.

Being a remote location, the house has water supplied by a well which can at times have a sulfur smell to it. For those who are used to public water this may be unfamiliar. It is safe and there is a large water dispenser and water supplied for drinking for those that prefer.

We had a wonderful stay at The Lake Escape! The location is perfect to explore Tygart Lake and State Park- which gave us more time to enjoy the outdoors. The spacious driveway was a big plus, with plenty of room for multiple vehicles or even a boat. Our kids loved having space to explore and play. The house is fully equipped. We enjoyed our time here and will definitely be back!

We have stayed here the last 2 years at Christmas time to meet up with family. The house is perfect for having our family being able to gather and have our Christmas dinner and gift giving. The house has everything to cook a large Christmas dinner. There is so much seating that everyone is comfortable. The host has always been very available. We know we can just arrive at the house and everything we need is there.

The cabin was awesome. So many small details made it very inviting. Everything was so clean, extra blankets. There’s well water, so host had a 5 gallon water bottle machine (with plenty of refills). Also very well equipped in case you forgot something. Spices, toiletries etc. loved the magnetic scrabble board on the wall. There was games, puzzles, little unopened crafts for the kiddos. There was a lot of rain while we were there so appreciated the extras. Overall a wonderful experience. I’ve been in many rental & this in probably the best. Now, the shower is tiny but……. I’d definitely stay again. Oh, yea bath towels were also very nice. Usually get some thin scratchy ones. These weren’t luxury but definitely a few steps above the norm. We were there for Memorial Day. My 50th HS Reunion. Thanks for a wonderful stay. Host was very communicative, just a text away.

As avid travelers we have had the opportunity to see many parts of the world, but as lifelong residents of West Virginia we have found Tygart Lake one of our favorite spots for relaxing getaways, out of mainstream and full of adventurous opportunities. Our enjoyment of this area is what we want to share with you.

Why they chose this property

Lake Escape is very unique to Tygart Lake as it is one of a very limited number of properties that lies within steps of the State Park, as close as you can be to the amenities offered by Tygart Lake.
Lake Escape offers the shortest walk to the Swim Park (4min) and Marina (15min) of any dwelling near Tygart Lake. Multiple hiking trails are within a few hundred yards of the door.
The property is secluded in a wooded setting with lots of wildlife and privacy, and yet just a few hundred yards from the park road, nature center, and large play ground.
The lake road is an amazing, shaded, level road for exercise and recreation.
