The Beautiful Adventure

La Belle Aventure is the storey of Floriane, Christophe, and their two children, Léane and Evan—a family in love with the Creuse countryside and its magic—who set out to renovate a small country house into a guesthouse so they could share all the beauty of their region. La Belle Aventure is our little corner of paradise, completely renovated in 2022, welcoming you for a few nights or a full week. La Belle Aventure is also a family affair—our loved ones and friends helped us build this project by lending a hand on days when things weren’t easy: the chance to laugh and gather around a table for the warmth and togetherness we cherish—that, too, is what La Belle Aventure is all about. We’re located in the hamlet of La Chaise Gonnot in the town of Fresselines, a picturesque spot in the Vallée des Peintres, rich in cultural and natural heritage. You can visit many sites where public and historical figures found inspiration and serenity throughout the ages: Georges Sand, Claude Monet, and Maurice Rollinat. We chose this place because it was the setting of our childhood, nestled between Crozant and La Chapelle Baloue. It reminds us of that wonderful time, filled with carefree days and a zest for life, and through this little house, we wanted to bring those memories back to life for our children, Evan and Léane. For us, “La Belle Aventure” is about offering you a moment of happiness, discovery, and tranquility. Nature lovers can recharge their batteries along the nearby river and enjoy hiking, biking (we provide 4 bikes), and fishing—and be sure to forage for some chanterelles and porcini mushrooms when the season is right. Our cottage features a private above-ground pool with a safety ladder that can be raised when not in use (pool dimensions: 4.80 m x 1.22 m deep). For thrill-seekers, the Lac de Chambon recreation centre offers water activities (water skiing, inner tubes, a beach, and a water slide), followed by the chance to relax on the terrace for a drink or stay for dinner at one of the many restaurants. We provide board games for your enjoyment. Our fully renovated cottage, which sleeps up to 8 people, is spread over two floors as follows: Ground floor: 1 living area of 35 m² with a living room and TV (smart TV). 1 fully equipped kitchen (new): storage cabinets and appliances suited to the number of guests, oven, induction cooktop, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee maker; various kitchen utensils. An utility room with a washing machine and refrigerator (with freezer compartment)
1 bathroom with a sink. Ground floor: 2 large bedrooms with two 140x190 beds, closets, nightstands, and bedside lamps, 1 small office that can be used for work if needed (fully equipped) or as a small room for an infant (portable cot available) with a closet. 1 bathroom with toilet, shower, sink, and 2-drawer vanity, plus a towel warmer. 2nd floor: A 35 m² dormitory with 1 140x190 bed and 2 90x190 beds: this dormitory has its own bathroom with a shower, towel warmer, sink, and vanity cabinet (2 drawers). The dormitory has 2 storage closets. Each bed is equipped with a bedside lamp. Our cottage offers all the necessary amenities to ensure a comfortable stay, and we’ll be happy to assist you in meeting your needs. Our barn, attached to the house, provides a secure place to park your vehicles; you can also park them in the garden via an outdoor entrance. You’ll have access to a fully enclosed garden (800 m²) with a patio, allowing you to enjoy a quiet and peaceful setting in complete privacy where your children can play safely.
You’ll find all the necessary shops within a 10-kilometer radius. Our cottage is open year-round. You can park your vehicle on the property or in a locked barn provided for that purpose. We’ve installed a key box with a combination lock so you can retrieve the keys if you arrive at a time when the host cannot be physically present—although we prefer to be there in person to welcome you.
