Kingfisher Lake House is in the Lake Adger Development made up of several communities planned to have minimal impact on the beautiful natural elements surrounding the lake. In the Development, you have access to the 500 acre lake, 14 miles of hiking (equestrian) trails, as well as safe, low traffic, roads for road biking.
Up for an adventure, close by is the Green River Narrows (put in 25 minute drive) with boulder infested Class IV & V+ rapids or calmer waters downstream on the Green River that flow into Lake Adger. Zip Lines (25 minute drive), and great Mountain biking a bit further away (45-55 minutes) in Brevard, Mills River, Bent Creek or Old Fort areas.
Of course, here in Western North Carolina you are a quick drive to quaint towns, beautiful waterfalls, wineries, breweries, hiking and World Class attractions like the Biltmore (65 minutes) & Tryon Equestrian Center (17 minutes)
Other things to note: Like many properties in Western North Carolina, especially around lakes, there tends to be steep grades. The paved driveway down to the home has a slope that may be steeper than you are accustomed to, however passenger cars, pick-up trucks, and minivans have no problem going up and down the drive-way rain or shine. Four vehicles (cars/pick-ups) can park easily in the parking area. Larger Trucks (Box Trucks), RV’s or Trailers will not be allowed down the drive and they are not allowed to park on Development Roads. There is also a decent slope from the house down to the lake. It would be difficult to handle if you have a mobility challenge.
The home has the best internet that money can buy for the area, it is good but not great. We typically get 27 Mbs down that allows streaming HD on one TV while surfing on multiple devices, however you would not be able to stream on both TVs.
We have great neighbors that deserve to enjoy the peacefulness of Lake Adger. Quite hours start at 10:00 pm where we ask that guest be thoughtful about voice & music levels while outside. Absolutely no parties or events will be allowed at any time.
This property is marked as not suitable for kids because the house does not meet all the criteria listed in the “Safe Kids Worldwide Guidelines”. Outlets are not covered, laundry and chemical products are not necessarily out of reach, or secured, and dressers are not fully secured against tipping. But most importantly the home is 100 yards from the Lake which can be reached in a minute by a curious toddler. So while discouraged, we do allow children and have equipped the home with items to make it safer and more comfortable for little ones. We have dishes, utensils, a potty chair, pack-n-play, high chair and a range of age-appropriate toys.
The property is essentially a forest setting next to a lake making it an inviting home to number of creatures ranging from cute to annoying. This includes biting insects. Repellant is available in the home, but also keep an eye out for our stinging neighbors. Yellow jackets will sometimes take up residency in inappropriate places on the grounds, please give them a wide berth and let us know where you see them.
Absolutely no smoking or vaping (of any kind) is allowed inside the house.
Pets are not allowed anywhere on the property.
Only registered quest may stay on the property. No explosive fireworks on the property at any time.

Best home the group ever rented on 50 + years of womans weeks across the US
beautiful well equipped home. Owners were very helpful and available. The group of 6 enjoyed being there.
This is not a home for folks with mobility issues.
Quiet setting. Beautiful views. Beautiful home with lots of room for my family of 6 and my mom. Not to far from chimney rock. It was a nice ride over to Pisgah forest.
Beautiful home on a lake with privacy and nature abounding. Home is spacious and navigable including for our 93 year old aunt. The kitchen lends itself to several people cooking together which is a real plus as we prepared all our meals here.
Thomas is a responsive host who communicates thoroughly and promptly.
Highly recommend this property.
This was our 2nd annual vacation at Lake Adger! This home is very well equipped with lake toys such as kayaks and paddle boards. Nice dock, fire ring and multiple balconies. Like many lake houses, the walk to the lake is steep, but the path is clear and landscaped with steps. The host was very responsive and helpful. Great location!
We had a great stay, my family loved our time together, especially being able to use the kayaks and paddle boards!
All of this is very well described in the listing, but do make sure you have a vehicle that can handle a steep driveway, and it might be a tough spot for anyone with mobility issues. Otherwise, very clean and beautiful home in a picturesque setting.

Katherine, we are always pleased to hear that families enjoy their stay. Thank you for the kind words. We also appreciate noting the terrain and would like to take this opportunity to remind future guest that all are welcome, however; while the home is comfortable for most, it does have (3) levels. And Katherine is correct, the grounds can be challenging to navigate for those with mobility issues. The asphalt drive down to the house may be steeper than many are accustomed to, and while we don't have any issues with our Toyota Camry handling the driveway, there simply isn't room to navigate a large RV or vehicle with trailer.
Have a great Summer.
We are a family of 7 adults and one infant. We found Kingfisher Lake house to be great! The house is very comfortable, and nicely furnished. The water sports equipment was fun! The kitchen was the best stocked of any place we have ever stayed! The baby equipment was clean and well taken care of. The view of the lake is so pretty and peaceful! We also appreciated how easy it was to communicate with the owner. They made us feel so welcome!
We loved this home on Lake Adger. The space worked great for our family reunion. There were enough bedrooms and open space for gathering. We made use of the jacks, SUPs and deck float. The kitchen was spacious and stocked with enough pans, etc, so that we had everything we needed to cook our meals by the lake. Bar-b-q was clean and in good working order. Check-in was a breeze. The detailed notebook the hosts put together of nearby sites, was quite helpful. Hosts were kind enough to mail the items left behind to their grateful owners. We are planning our next stay.
This place had all the bedroom space, living area, and outdoor spaces we could have wanted. We had a larger group with an assortment of ages and everyone had their spaces with room to spare. We all enjoyed the paddle boards and kayaks and the fire pit was great. The walk down to the dock was steep, as is typical of the area but something to be aware of if you have trouble with hills/steps. The views were beautiful and worth it! It was a great stay!
We had the most lovely time in this fabulous house and beautiful setting. We didn't want to stray far and just enjoyed the beauty, peace and relaxation together. We especially loved the kayaking, paddle boarding and swimming. The hosts had thought of everything. Thank you so much!
This property was more than we ever expected. The lake, the house, the property, the amenities were all perfect and clean. Every need had been anticipated and everything was top of the line.
We were in awe as we entered the house and stayed that way for the duration of our trip. Our family members met here from all over the East Coast and we were not disappointed!
The hosts we great and communicated with us from day 1. It is so hard not to continually gush about how much we loved our stay here. Would definitely book again!
If you are looking for a spacious, beautiful home with a peaceful lake just steps away from your back door- this is it! We enjoyed our time kayaking, fishing, swimming, and hiking without ever having to leave the property. It was easy to prepare delicious meals with the fully stocked kitchen and a gas grill right outside. We ate outside on the fully furnished decks with breathtaking views of the lake. This property is conveniently located near Chimney Rock and fantastic zip line courses. In less than an hour you can visit Asheville to enjoy a bit of city life as well! The host was very organized and provided a super informative binder to let us know where everything could be found in the house, as well as information about surrounding attractions. Book a vacation at Lake Adger! You will not be disappointed!
Rented this house for a business trip! There were 8 of us, all guys. It was nice each day after working to come to this house and chill! We were in the water everyday and took advantage of each item that was left for our enjoyment! We never ate out we always ate here! The house was super clean! Water pressure was great! Lots of hot water! Beds slept great! Honestly this was an Awesome stay and I would recommend anyone to stay here! Everything was perfect!! Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us!!
