About the host

We visited the Outer Banks, for the first time as a family the winter of 2021. My husband and I took turns driving the 17 hours with our 10-year-old navigator, excited to Zoom school and work remote from a friends condo. It was midnight when we arrived road-weary. As the sunlight and warmth flooded the room early that first morning, the stress of a long, uncertain year seemed to melt away effortlessly. Family meals replaced fast food, and long work hours spent with breaks to yell at my son to stay focused were replaced by him telling me to stop screaming like a child every time I saw a pod of dolphins swim past! We took long walks on the beach and reconnected as a family. Mornings began early with coffee with my husband on the balcony. We explored beautiful areas daily which ended with fires on the beach and popcorn and family game nights and snuggling up with good books or a movie. I remember thinking how odd it was that I felt so very comfortable so far away from home, it felt like we found ourselves on a remote paradise.
During the winter months the sun rises over the Atlantic Ocean and sets over the Pamlico Sound so the balcony and master bedroom was bathed in sunlight all day. Surprised by the mild weather that had the boys swimming in the ocean in December!
I saw it as fate that a unit in this building went up for sale and I quickly dipped into my modest retirement savings to secure Unit 11B. In our home I must compromise with my husband and son with their rustic/sporty design tastes. Here at the shore I was able to rebel against hard durable surfaces and sink into relaxed luxury. I invite you to pamper yourself in my happy place. Allow me to share my love of the area and the warmth of my hospitality with you and your family. I guarantee you will feel relaxed and at home from the first moment you walk in. This is the perfect romantic get away, place to work remote or enjoy with the littles as even they will feel spoiled here.

What makes this property unique
Tranquility awaits on this 200 mile string of barrier islands which, at Rodanthe North Carolina, sits 30 miles from the coast of the United States and is just over two football fields wide. Access the island by North Carolina Highway 12. Rodanthe boasts stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Pamlico Sound to the west. This humid subtropical climate is at its peak June-Sept relieved by a cooling afternoon sea breeze present most days.
Enjoy fine dining, golfing and water sports like swimming, fishing, kayaking, sailboarding, snorkeling, kiteboarding and wreck diving.
The islands are home to herds of feral horses, called "banker ponies", which are descended from Spanish mustangs washed ashore from shipwrecks centuries ago. Horses are found on Ocracoke Island, Shackleford Banks, Currituck Banks and in the Rachel Carson Estuarine Sanctuary.
Many restaurants, shops and markets are family owned and seasonal, closing Oct 31st when one must take the short drive south to Avon or north to Nags Head for fine dining. I recommend every guest try my favorite hot takeout from Waves Deli a 3 minute drive away.
There are 6 lighthouses in the Outer Banks
- Currituck Beach Lighthouse, located in Corolla, North Carolina
- Roanoake Marshes Lighthouse, located in Manteo, North Carolina
- Bodie Island Lighthouse, located south of Nags Head, North Carolina
- Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, located in Buxton, North Carolina
- Ocracoke Island Lighthouse, located in Ocracoke, North Carolina
- Cape Lookout Lighthouse, located in Carteret County, North Carolina
This condo is located near the luxury Camp Hatteras RV Resort & Campground which provides exceptional people watching and expansive Atlantic Ocean views as there are no buildings in the way to spoil your view.
Enjoy an ocean view while you work from a beautiful desk with dual curved monitors, connection cables, keyboard, mouse and comfortable ergonomic office chair.
