This beautiful 4 bedroom, 2 bath home has space for everyone! Sleeps 8 or more if you're creative! Located on a quite cul de sac, this property is a hidden gem.
The entire home is tastefully decorated with coastal artwork. Some artwork is even custom to the home. The master suite is on the top floor, with a King Size Bed and a private full bath. The Purple Room is a precious space, that looks like it came out of a doll house, every little girl's dream. The full bed allows for adults to use this room too. The Blue Room has a Queen bed and offers a sunset view. The Teal Room, is sound front and possibly the best room in the house! This room features a Queen bed.
Panoramic views of the Pamlico sound from almost every room in the house! Two Kayaks for your enjoyment. Bring your boat and dock it right out back! Deep water access. No boat? No problem, fish right from the dock or charter at one of the local docs!
The sunrises can be seen from the back deck, get up early at least one morning and you'll be glad you did. This is a view that is unlike any other in the world, truly magical. And the sunsets are the closest second you'll find. They can be seen easily from the front deck. Sandy from a day's fun? Use the outdoor shower to clean off, hot and cold water. We sometimes prefer to take our regular showers outside, how often can you do that at home?

Beautiful location with priceless views! Owners were very responsive and welcoming, neighbors were too! Not quite sure if the cleaning company is very thorough but after a quick cleanup on arrival a great home base for a fun week away-would rent again.
Our stay was very relaxing and the location was great. The host was also responsive, but the place was too dirty for my liking. The home was infested with cockroaches.
Wonderful spring break getaway.
Comfy beds
Well stocked kitchen Made it easy to cook all our meals. + air fryer for the win!
Great fishing off the dock even pre- season.
Kayaks were fun.
Dog even had a great stay!
Great sunrise from deck and sunset from kayak.
Quiet friendly neighborhood.
Will definitely be back!
We were unable to make the trip to Hatteras due to Hurricane Debby. We did not receive any refund, partial or otherwise. We were very disappointed that we had to pay the full amount when we didn’t even stay at the house. We know the weather can’t be controlled but common courtesy could be under the circumstances.
The location of this property is worth the drive all the way down Hatteras. The ability to dock a boat right out back is AWESOME. The street is very private and had great parking right in the driveway. We had really easy and quick communication from the host any time we needed anything. The check in process was really easy. The photos do represent the location quite well, showing the space. However, they don't show you everything, and we had a few unexpected moments. The property has been flooded a few times, and so there is definitely a musty odor as a result. It is not overbearing, however, and you adjust to it. The place does need a lot of repairs. Drawers in the kitchen were falling apart, and generally everything was kind of in disrepair. There are TONS of amenities -- the closet is stocked with a lot of pots, pans, and even things like spices and paper products. Some of the items left needed cleaning -- the coolers were really nasty and full of spiders and webs as were a few other things. Most disappointing was the fact that there was no fire pit as shown. Hoping for some s'mores at night, but it was filled in with cement when we arrived. Other than that, it was safe, large (two floors with decent sized bedrooms) and right on the water with a really nice little upper deck to watch the sunrise. We had a very nice time!

Great location / listing miss leading
The location was great the water depths getting to the dock were very sallow, the fire pit is now a flagpole, the couch cushions have so many stains on them the should be throw away, the refrigerator had stuff in it dated was far back as 2018 , there was so much left behind by other renters in kitchen there no place for the things we brought, but that being said I will say we still had a wonderful time and would consider staying in the house again
We love the sound and having a place so close to everything was fantastic. The dock was perfect for the fisherman in the house! Thank you for letting us stay in your home!
We will most likely be renting from you again! For some locals from colington, your place was the exact spot we needed! Caught fish off the dock, boated to Ocracoke, slight breeze the whole time... what a relaxing weekend!! Thank you!
This is a nice place with great views. It is definitely in a private, secluded area. It appears to have been a family property for several decades and was not rented out until recently, as such, there are certain features that do not have the "polish" one might expect from a dedicated vacation rental (e.g., wash and dry all your sheets and towels and make your bed before you leave so as to help the maids), but it is overall a good spot that I would go back to.
We were looking for a place at the beach by the water so our mother could enjoy the view, since she can’t get on the beach easily. The house was perfect for this! Beautiful water views and lots of decks to choose from. It’s a very family style home and quite cozy. Easy bike or short drive (next time I’ll get a golf cart) to the beach. Recommend the parking lot on 12 just outside of town for a fabulous quiet beach. It’s sound side so bring lots of bug spray. We had a great time.
House was great! It was a wonderful place to stay. We enjoyed the kayaks, surf board, fishing from dock, and relaxing views. Definitely recommend this place. Views were great fro second floor porch!
Communication with the property owner went very well. She was very helpful and offered us the use of her fishing poles, towels, and kayaks. The house was adorable and cozy. We loved being on the sound with a pier. The whole family enjoyed fishing, kayaking, and most of all steaming up fresh oysters. We loved the oyster farm and I think they were the best oysters I have ever eaten. Thank you for giving my family an enjoyable stay and lasting memories.
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property. Having access to the sound with the pier, kayaks and fishing equipment was so much fun and very relaxing! Great vacation!!

About the host
Hosted by Kenneth Barlow
Our family is so pleased to welcome you to our dream home. Hannah and Ken, also known to their grand kids as Grandma and Cappy, have dreamed of this home their entire lives. They have four children Jessica, Meredith, Brooke and Robert. Jessica and her husband Michael have 5 (count them!) 5 beautiful children. Meredith and her husband Andrew are proud parents to Juliet and William. Andrew is a soldier in the United States Army. Brooke and her significant other JC live in Richmond, VA.Their son Robert just graduated Summa Cum Laude from Virginia Commonwealth University with a double major in Political Science & History .
Meredith is excited to be running this listing, taking some stress off her Dad, and helping renters enjoy this property. In addition to her actual career as a horse dentist (you read that right!) Meredith is a travel agent and IATA member.
Why they chose this property
Hannah has been coming with her family to Hatteras since the summer of 1954. She and Ken have been visiting Hatteras for most of their married lives. This home has been their dream and they are so pleased to share it with you.
What makes this property unique
This property is truly unique! Panoramic sound views, fish from the dock, or even the deck! Ocean and sound near by. Keep in mind this is a family home that's routinely used by its owners. This means we often leave personal belongings in the home. If you're looking for an empty rental without owner items, this isn't for you, and that's okay. We invite you to borrow anything in the house just as if you were a trusted friend visiting.
