About this property

Historic + Renovated Cottage Voted 'Most Quaint on Tybee' by Tybee Cottages

Welcome to Palm Cottage, a true Tybee Island gem and one of the most storied beach cottages on the Georgia coast. Originally built in the 1920s as an Army Corps of Engineers dwelling, this 600-square-foot cottage was rescued from demolition in 1998 by renowned Savannah preservationist Jane Coslick for the price of one dollar and moved to its current site, becoming one of her first and most celebrated rescues. Its timeless charm was later showcased on the cover of Coastal Living, and the cottage has since been featured in both national and local publications as an example of what historic preservation can achieve.

As you ascend the steps to the welcoming screened-in porch, a favorite spot for reading, relaxing, and entertaining, you'll be greeted by quaint and colorful beach decor, setting the perfect tone for a delightful stay. The porch offers a variety of seating options and tables, inviting you to lounge and soak in the serene Tybee atmosphere.

Step inside this sophisticated cottage, all on one level, and be captivated by warm wood floors, abundant natural light, and delightful splashes of local art throughout. Original pocket windows and painted beadboard walls and ceilings, hallmarks of Jane Coslick's signature restoration style, give the interior an intimate, airy character that newer construction simply can't replicate. Open every window and enjoy the wonderful cross-ventilation; with the ocean breeze rolling through, you may never need the air conditioning. The open sitting, dining, and kitchen area seamlessly blend together, creating a harmonious space for gatherings, with a TV and dining table accommodating up to 5 guests.

A small bedroom tucked off the living room features two twin beds with the convenience of a privacy curtain. The master bedroom boasts a queen bed and a full bath with tub/shower ensuite, providing a serene retreat for relaxation. A hallway half bath offers added convenience for guests.

Outside, a small open back porch awaits sun enthusiasts, adorned with two hand-painted Adirondack chairs — a perfect spot to bask in the warm Georgia rays. The porch overlooks a shady fenced backyard complete with an outdoor shower and a charming picnic table, ideal for post-beach gatherings.

Palm Cottage is part of a beloved legacy of historic preservation on Tybee Island, one of several cottages Jane Coslick has rescued and restored to share the simple, soulful pleasures of old beach life with a new generation of guests. An old house, as Jane says, has so much more energy, more passion, and more comfort than a new one.

Experience the timeless beauty of this gorgeous Tybee Island vacation rental, where history meets coastal charm and every detail has been thoughtfully curated for an enchanting stay.
