The Cottage @ Ray Road Farm

The beautiful Cottage at Ray Road Farm is a scenic romantic get-away or perfect escape to make some new family memories. Take in the scenes of the lush and immaculate property with an abundance of flora and fauna, here you will always find something blooming. Ray Road Farm is unique and cool little urban farm where there is always something delicious growing, whatever is in season will be gladly shared with guests of The Cottage!

The cottage is yours truly with an array of private amenities for you to enjoy; washer and dryer, dishwasher, barbecue, outdoor griddle, firepit, fully stocked kitchenette and wrap around patio with plenty of outdoor seating. The private bedroom has a queen bed with plenty of closet space. The sleeper-sofa in the living can sleep another 2 additional guests.

In the heart of gilbert you are a 5 minute car ride away from Downtown Gilbert, SanTan mall, Agritopia and lots of great entertainment venues. On the weekends take a bike ride and hit up Gilbert Farmer's Market for some local goodies. Not in the mood to go out? Then come and spend your day lounging on your private patio or refresh by taking a dive in the main house's swimming pool.

This is the perfect relaxing setting to unwind!

Perfect for the two of us - we’ll be back!

This was the most lovely casita with plenty of room for the two of us, very clean, and beautifully appointed. The location was convenient for the things we wanted to do, and any store you might need will be close by. We enjoyed taking walks in the neighborhood and especially enjoyed watching the chickens! Hosts were delightful, there was fresh fruit, eggs and homemade marmalade to greet us. We were sad to leave and would love to visit again!

Wonderful experience

Our stay at this unique casita was wonderful! It was clean, comfortable and charming. We enjoyed the large wrap around patio for meals and relaxing. The lovely yard and outdoor fireplace were favorites (as were the fresh eggs and fruit). Alex and Josefina were great hosts. They answered any questions and went out of the way to search for park passes for us. We hope to stay here again in the future and have recommended it to relatives. Awesome experience.

Shangri-La in Gilbert

We had the most relaxing, comfortable time in the Ray Road casita! We loved the beautiful yard with colorful citrus trees and happy chickens dotting the landscape as they foraged. We heard so many song birds sitting under the covered patio. Lovely! The casita is clean and well-appointed. The bed was very comfortable. The hosts were so kind and accommodating. Many thanks!

A Quiet Refuge

The Cottage is a wonderful place to stay. It contains all of the comforts of home. The patio and backyard is a very peaceful place to relax. We enjoyed watching the colorful chickens roaming the yard. We also enjoyed fresh squeezed grapefruit and orange juice from the trees in the yard. The Cottage was centrally located to all of the places we wanted to visit. Josefina and Alex were easy to communicate with and were very responsive to our needs. We look forward to returning to The Cottage in the near future.

This cottage is refreshing, well-appointed and adorable. The cottage sits next door the owner's home. The owners are warm, thorough and kind. The property inside has been updated while the grounds are older with mature fruit trees in bloom, humming birds dart among the Lillies and Aloe vera succulents. There is a chicken coop where the residents have 'Happy Hour and get freed to roam the grounds a bit every afternoon and for pet enthusiasts there are 2 dogs and 2 cats, unobtrusive and friendly. Outside enjoying the breeze we heard only one large truck roll by. Otherwise, doves in the trees cooed in the background, softening the squawk and whistle of the Grackles. If you need a charming respite, do yourselves a favor and make reservations, Pronto. The Parkers Virginia

Just so peaceful and relaxing

We have booked with VRBO for many years throughout the USA. We had never stayed in a home where the owners shared their backyard or were in as close a proximity. We needn’t have given this fact a single thought, as Maria and Alex, as well as their family, were the most respectful of our shared space. We felt totally alone in a beautiful setting with lovely flowers, fruit trees, and chickens (which we loved to watch). We were gifted with fresh eggs, fresh citrus and lovely welcome and departure goodies. We can’t say enough about how helpful the owners were and attentive to any of our needs. From suggestions for a rainy day to local attractions nearby. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Cottage is exactly as advertised. We did have a small concern when arriving from NJ to AZ as our GPS left us a few doors down from our intended destination. We felt it would have been very helpful knowing that The Cottage was accessible by turning at the corner (since we missed the small sign with the house number). During our 26 night stay, we had two family members join us for 6 days, thus utilizing the futon/sleeper sofa. We slept on this and gave the others the bedroom. The futon/sleeper sofa was so comfortable to sleep on - however at our ages 70+ it was less so to sit on for our time there - in part due to it’s width of seat cushion. The recliner was more comfortable. We cooked many meals in the kitchenette and utilized the griddle outside. As the main cook, I was apprehensive of managing with a large toaster oven and a one burner induction plate - but meal time was very doable. We enjoyed the outdoor patio - and the wrap around porch with many sitting areas. Our time at The Cottage was relaxing, restful and close to all the areas we planned to visit. We would definitely recommend this rental and if we find ourselves back in AZ - would definitely stay here again.

Images/Description Don't Match Reality

I normally don't write reviews, but I felt the need to do so based on our stay at The Cottage to warn other families. First and foremost, this is NOT a completely private stay - you are literally in the owner's backyard casita house and have to enter through their RV gate. With that, you will run into them as they work in their yard, come home in their car, their kids are out, and will feel like they are spying on you as all their house windows in the back face The Cottage; you will also hear their dogs bark at you and will hear them when they go out on their patio and talk (even into the nighttime hours). This property is poorly described in the description and we would have never booked a stay here if we knew how un-private it was. The owners also had the audacity to report us to Vrbo because they claimed we weren't watching our kids swim. Obviously they weren't spying good enough because there were multiple adults supervising the children from different vantage points. This made the rest of our stay awkward and uncomfortable and we were supposed to be celebrating our son's first birthday - thanks, owners. There's also no indication of where to put trash aside from the tiny can inside of the kitchen so your garbage will accumulate (we actually had to make trips off the property to dispose of some after our celebration for our son). If you don't mind being in someone's backyard feeling like you're being spied on, then this is the place for you. If not, beware how unbelievably misleading the pictures are. It's a cute and clean cottage, but that's the only positive thing we can say about it. The Cottage was such a disappointment and we're upset that we spent our money here as we celebrated our son on what should have been such a beautiful (positively) memorable experience.

Thank you for your review of The Cottage. Kate by all the messages that we sent you, we can clearly agree that you did not read the listing description AND you did not read any of the rules of this property and our answers to your questions. You started by saying that you were staying at The Cottage to celebrate your son’s first birthday, we answered right away explaining that we DO NOT allow any type of party or gathering, you said it was only going to be your parents and grandparents coming to have a quick dinner and cake and everything will be finished by 8PM. Instead, we started seeing cars parked in our property (yes the property is shared, main house and casita in over one acre property). To make things worst at around 4PM 3 boys of around 10 years of age were in the pool without supervision, or if there was supervision it was from far away. The rules CLEARLY state that no one can use the property (shared) amenities that is not part of the reservation. Your reservation was for 4 guests (yourself, husband, 10 year old and one year old). We had to report you to VRBO because you were not complying to the rules of The Cottage. Even after we sent you an email you said that you didn’t FEEL you had to let us know that more people were coming to your “gathering”. You mentioned that you were offended by us stating that they were minors without supervision in the pool but I have to say that I am highly offended by you retaliating against us because we told you to FOLLOW THE RULES and reported you to VRBO. If you were so uncomfortable why didn’t you leave on Saturday? VRBO tried contacting you to find a solution but you did not take the time to answer their call because you were having a party in a place you are NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE A PARTY. I am sorry if you felt spied on, maybe that is the way you feel because you weren’t doing the right thing, maybe you were trying to bend the rules and hoping no one would notice.

Wij vonden dit een hele fijne plek om te verblijven. Een landelijk stukje in stedelijk gebied. Net zo mooi als op de foto's. Heerlijk om op de patio te zitten met uitzicht op de tuin en als het te warm werd even lekker het zwembad in!

Absolutely lovely and very peaceful.

My husband and I were in town for a wedding. The cottage was perfect. It was so well appointed we didn’t want for anything. Parking was easily accessible and very convenient. The grounds were stunning and we could easily view them from any place in the cottage. We even got to meet a few of their chickens who are very quiet. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Gilbert. . Alex and Josephina were very gracious hosts.

Worth coming back

The hosts made this stay really pleasant on our first time staying at a home over our normal hotel or resort. It was exactly what we needed and recommend this location for gardeners to see all the beautiful flowers and landscaping, live chickens including the funny looking ones, a pool to enjoy, and fantastic hospitality.

Loved this place- would definitely come back!

Cute cottage located on a suburban farm. Lots of fruit trees with beautiful landscaping surrounding the cottage. We could have spent the whole day birdwatching on the back patio. The owners were very welcoming and communicative. They left us some fresh fruit, farm eggs, and delicious homemade marmalade with a welcome letter addressing me by my first name. So thoughtful. One of our favorite places we ever stayed at. Wish we could've stayed longer to just hang at the house for the day. Highly recommend!
