About this property

STUNNING mountain views facing sunset, hot tub, 3 king bedrooms + attached baths

Perched atop a mountain ridge at 1,900' of elevation, Sunset Mountain Lodge faces directly West to perfectly frame the sun as it sets over multiple layers of mountains each night. Whether viewing the sunset from the two-story picture windows in the living room, or on any of the three levels of deck or hot tub, you are sure to be in awe by the view!

Highlights include three king-sized beds in equal-sized bedrooms featuring their own adjacent bathrooms, one queen sofa-bed, a dining table that seats eight, hot tub, pool table, foosball, a karaoke machine with Auto-Tune and two microphones, big screen TVs with Roku streaming players and satellite in all bedrooms and common rooms, Nintendo Wii, Jenga, Corn Hole, board games, puzzles, darts, bar, outdoor grill, three levels of decks and an outdoor fire pit. Many of the furnishings in the lodge were made-to-order by Amish woodworkers in Pennsylvania out of aspen, white cedar, and hickory.

Sunset Mountain Lodge is conveniently located about 15-20 minutes from Blue Ridge, McCaysville, and Murphy, but also provides great privacy, peace, and quiet. The entire home, all levels, 2,200 total square feet of living space, on 3.25 acres of private land is all yours.

Boating and fishing are available at Lake Nottely (10 minute drive) and Lake Blue Ridge (20 minute drive), and there are many rivers and creeks with good fishing in the area as well. Other outdoor activities within a 15-30 minute drive away include kayaking, tubing, hiking, zip-lining, and paddle boarding. Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino is a 25 minute drive away, and there are multiple vineyards nearby that offer tours, tastings, and sales. Plenty of all types of shopping and restaurants in the three nearby towns and the Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad is always a hit with adults and kids alike.

Walk out of the French doors from the third story bedroom and onto the private third-level deck to relax in the hanging chair and have a glass of wine while you admire the sunset. Guests in the main-floor bedroom can do the same and walk out of French doors to the main level deck and hanging chair! Gather around the wood-burning fireplace in the living room while you take in the mountain views through the two story windows. Venture downstairs to the game room and fix yourself a drink at the bar before playing a game of pool, foosball, darts, over a dozen board games (some for kids, some for family, and some for adults), puzzles, or Nintendo Wii while the game plays on the big-screen TV. Connect your phone or tablet to the Karaoke machine equipped with AutoTune and two microphones and sing your favorite songs. Head to the deck to play a game of corn-hole, Jenga, grill a dinner, or have a soak in the hot tub while you enjoy the mountain view with your friends and family. After the the sunset has completed its show, venture down the steps to the fire pit and cook s'mores around the fire.

The cabin sits several miles away from any main roads so you won't hear the sounds of traffic, and because the cabin sits at 1,900 feet atop a mountain ridge line of Poindexter Knob, you will hear the peaceful sound of the wind blowing over the trees and have a chance of experiencing snow in the winter.

The full kitchen is thoughtfully stocked with all the implements a foodie needs to prepare their masterpiece for friends and family, including items like a good sharp knife set, food processor, blender, muffin pans, cake pans, garlic press, whisk, measuring cups, mixing bowls, etc, and a large propane grill sits out on the deck for outdoor meal prep. The main level deck features a round glass dining table with four chairs, and the indoor dining area features a rectangular table with seating for eight.

Each of the three bedrooms are "master" bedrooms of the same size (13x13), all feature king size beds, and all have a TV and an adjacent full bathroom. The top two bedrooms feature full closets and French doors leading out to the decks. The bottom bedroom features an armoire with drawers, shelves and rod to hang clothes, and four windows. With three king size beds plus a sofabed with queen size memory-foam mattress in the game-room, you'll have space for up to eight guests.

Cellular service is generally 2-3 bars on most carriers with great voice quality and there is 300mbps internet (with Wifi that provides 60mbps) for those needing to get online for business or pleasure. Satellite TV in all bedrooms, living room, and game room, and each TV has a Roku streaming player that will allow you to log into any of your streaming accounts (such as Netflix, Disney, HBO, Amazon, Hulu, Youtube, etc) and stream your favorite content, and then automatically sign out of your accounts on your day of checkout.

The cabin is equipped with a clothes washer and dryer, and dishwasher, and we follow the latest COVID CDC cleaning protocols for hotels/motels.

You will be on paved roads until the last 1/2 mile when you turn onto gravel. The short half-mile gravel road is maintained annually. The last 1/8 mile of the road up to the lodge is a bit steep, but as long as there is no snow or ice on the road, ANY car, no matter how small or old, can easily drive it - you definitely don't need an SUV or four-wheel drive. If there is snow or ice on the road, you will want to take appropriate measures as you would driving in those conditions on any road.

Sunset Mountain Lodge has a standard Ring video door bell located next to the front entry door that provides video-only (audio disabled) security monitoring of the parking area, and the porch area directly in front of the front door.

The lodge is strictly non-smoking, non-vaping, and pets are not allowed. Thank you for helping me keep the lodge safe, clean, in excellent condition, and enjoyable for everyone!

Guests are provided with one bundle of firewood for their stay. Additional bundles of firewood can be purchased at the Chevron 5 minutes down the road, or at the main intersection in Mineral Bluff about 10 minutes away.

Sunset mountain lodge is my personal getaway and is the only property I rent so it gets all my focus and attention. I have worked hard to make it as clean, comfortable, inviting, entertaining and enjoyable as possible for people of all ages and I take great pride in providing a setting where people can make many lasting memories! The decor and furnishings of the cabin have been very carefully selected to set a cabin-appropriate ambiance - even the lighting ensures a warm "cabiny" glow and feel.

One of the Best Places to Stay
My husband and I were in the area to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. We spent most of our time hiking and coming back each day to this lovely cabin was one of the best parts of our trip. Jeff has a fantastic cabin with just about everything needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. It was clean and quiet. Although it is in a neighborhood development and there is some neighborhood noise during the day, it is private and quiet, especially at night. Jeff is a gracious and communicative host and quickly responded to our questions. We’ve stayed in many rental homes over the years and most have had less than comfortable beds. The upper floor bed is comfortable but soft, the main floor bed has a firmer mattress that was almost as good as ours at home. The drive to Blue Ridge for groceries isn’t bad, but plan ahead unless you’re planning to drive through Blue Ridge often. It’s close but inconvenient to go every day. The hot tub was one of the cleanest I’ve ever used and there’s plenty of non-screen entertainment options to keep everyone happy. The view off the deck is lovely. Jeff’s place is a gem. We’ll stay again if we’re ever in the area.

Perfect Girl Getaway!
We had a wonderful stay at Sunset Mountain Lodge. There were four of us friends, and upon leaving we all agreed that this was a good find, and would definitely be up for another visit!, The furniture, and beds were comfortable..the Hot Tub was clean & hot ( which isn’t always the case :( ) the view was amazing..it was quite & peaceful. We had everything we needed which was nice as we had some rainy weather. Jeff was very responsive and helpful with inquiries about the local area. We did visit & would recommend..The Blue Ridge Scenic Railway; Anna Ruby Falls; Helen, Ga; Gibbs Gardens. Thank you Jeff, for sharing your beautiful Cabin!!

Very nice
We were really excited about our stay. The pictures made the place look so beautiful. When we arrived the cabin was a little too warm for our liking, I’d recommend with having all of the windows and the sun shining in to have the ac set a little lower, we arrived later in the evening so it took a while for the house to cool down before going to sleep. There is so many things to do at the cabin so when we decided to hang out for the day at the cabin we were never bored. The views were beautiful from the top room. I was set to believe we would be a little more private than we were, so when we were exploring the woods we did happen to walk onto a neighbors property that was a lot closer than we were lead to believe by the description. But it was still nice and a lot to explore. There was not a lot to do in the nearby town of blue ridge, so we did travel to Chattanooga and McCaysville. We absolutely loved that every bedroom had it’s own bathroom. With a larger group having to share a bathroom is a struggle sometimes. Would love to come back during the fall and see the different colors of the trees from the view from the cabin. Overall was a nice experience and not expensive at all!

Amazing Relaxing Peaceful
We had an incredible time during our girls' weekend getaway. The house was spotless and the location couldn't have been better. It was incredibly peaceful and relaxing, and we had a blast hanging out and playing in the game room. The beds were super comfortable and the views were absolutely stunning. We had everything we needed and wanted right there. I can't wait to come back and I'm so grateful for the host's hospitality!

Spring Break Family Vacation
OUR FAVORITE CABIN!!! We have stayed at a lot of places and this is by far is our favorite cabin. The pictures are very accurate and that sunset is breathtaking. One of the things I appreciated the most was how clean the place was. This is one of my biggest critiques and this cabin met our expectations. We also love to cook a lot and the kitchen was well equipped and even included things like a griddle and a waffle maker which our kids loved. Although we went out most days we did enjoy the hot tub (also one of the cleanest I have ever seen), fireplace, game room, comfy beds, soft towels, and the swings on the decks. I only wish we could have stayed one more day to enjoy more of the cabin. But I guess we will have to return to do that. ☺️

Why they chose this property

I've dreamed my whole life of owning a mountain cabin and when I found Sunset Mountain Lodge, I knew it was time to make my dream a reality.

What makes this property unique

The warm glow of the floor to ceiling wood construction, the location right at the corner of three states in the middle of the mountains all the way up on a ridge, the west-facing sunset views, and the quiet privacy and serenity it provides makes for the perfect setting to get away from it all. I want to share the same feeling I get here with others, and I strive to do all I can to make the atmosphere and your time here memorable.
