Are you searching for a place to escape the hustle and bustle of city living? Do you own a small airplane and are looking for a place to "jet" off too for the weekend. Then this is the place for you. This two bedroom/1bath retreat is nestled at the edge of the Texas Hill Country in the middle of over 300 acres. As you wind down the country road to our ranch be on the lookout for a variety of wildlife. Deer are abundant and roam freely throughout the property. Upon entering the home your eyes will be drawn to the large stone fireplace perfect for romantic nights by the fire. The bedrooms have ample sleeping room and there is an apartment style washer and dryer in the kitchen. There are acres of land just waiting for you to hike and explore, as well as, several tanks for fishing (catch and release style). As you hike don't be surprised if you are greeted by one of several longhorns grazing in the pastures. In the morning you will be able to sit on the back patio and enjoy a sunrise and in the evening just by turning your chair you will be treated to a beautiful sunset. Once the sun sets, cast your eyes skyward and you will be in awe of the number of stars filling the night sky. No bright lights or loud sounds, just you, the people you care the most about and nature for your enjoyment.
Additional Amenities/Activities Does an up close and personal experience feeding authentic Texas Longhorns sound intriguing to you? With prior arrangements and a small fee ($15 - the cost of a bag of cattle cubes) this can be part of your weekend adventure.
For plane enthusiasts, there is a 2,000' x 75' grass landing strip available for those looking for a weekend get away. Please contact the owner when booking for more details. For those of you who do not own your own plane, but think that a "view from the air" might be something you would like to add to your weekend, private plane trips over the local area can be arranged for a small additional fee (gas/airplane maintenance).

Excellent property for 5+/- people! Cottage was clean and well furnished. Location is very rural and quiet, which was perfect for us. Will definitely stay here again when in the area.

Thank you Bill. Sorry we didn’t have the opportunity to meet in person. Perhaps we will the next time. Looking forward to hosting you again.
Nice cottage and owners went out of their way to be hospitable. Even loved the veterans fishing poles to fish with in there ponds.

So glad we had the opportunity to host you and give back to those who served our country. It was nice to hear they had a successful fishing outing. Hope to see you all in the future.

This property was just perfect for a peaceful weekend! The house was neat and clean and the owner provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. In fact, I wish that we could have stayed longer. If we're ever visiting this area again, we will definitely return.

We love this property and will probably be back many times in the future to stay and we spend time working on our land or hunting nearby. So clean and comfortable. The Hoyers are excellent hosts and so very easy to communicate with! Love this property!

Love hosting you all. Starting to feel like you are part of the family!!
We had been searching for a better solution of a place to stay while visiting family other than a hotel. Finding this cottage in a quiet country setting with animals, trails and wonderful hosts was a perfect solution. The house is comfy and well equipped. We definitely will be repeat users of this VRBO.

Melissa and Bob thank you so much for letting us stay in your home. This place was the highlight of my year. Everything was perfect we could not have asked for more. Melissa is so inviting and sweet. We felt like family. I was relaxed and happy that I already booked this for Thanksgiving only 3 days into the trip.

Thank you so much for your kind words. We loved hosting you all.
Melissa and Bob are the most gracious and helpful hosts. We spent 3 months there to escape our home state winter. Acres of land to explore. Great bass fishing. The dogs are very friendly. The horses Roy and JR, and the donkey Jack are a hoot. All very friendly. Still can say enough about Melissa and Bob, wonderful people. The house had everything we needed for cooking, relaxing and cleaning. The WiFi is super. There is a fiber optic line running thru the property so I suspect they are connected to that. The well water is excellent tasting. Nice patio with a gas or charcoal grill, gas or wood fire pit. Nice shade trees. Lots of wildlife. Just a great place to stay. And stars that we can't see in the city.
My husband is a Native Texan and I was born and raised in Michigan/Ohio. Once we married in 1988 we chose to come back to Texas and raise our family. We lived on Lake Travis for 20+ years and began our family there. As our children grew we felt we needed a smaller community for them and Goldthwaite was the perfect fit. We have 5 children and 6 grandchildren and are proud to call Goldthwaite home.
Why they chose this property
We chose this property because of the diversity of land it has to offer. You can climb to the top of the hill and see for miles. It offered land for grazing our cattle and best of all, it had a landing strip on it. A dream come true for my husband, who is a pilot.
What makes this property unique
We love it here because we were able to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, but still are close enough to Austin, Killeen and even Dallas (3 hours away).
