Cozy Lake Cabin - 10% Discount for August 2025 Bookings
Please reach out if you need an immediate booking! We have a large kitchen with plenty of counter space for cooking together. It has almost everything you need to make your stay enjoyable: a bread machine with a cookbook, a slow cooker, a pancake griddle, a coffee maker, and a Barn wood dining table that easily seats 8. There's a comfy living area, Internet, WIFI, Satellite smart TV, lots of movies, novels & kids' books, & 2 full bathrooms. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms. Bedroom 1 has a log bed with a futon mattress under it that can be pulled out for more sleeping space. Bedroom 3 is large with 2 queen beds along with a TV/DVD player with a good collection of kids' movies that makes a great kids' room! :) Bedroom 2 is very cozy. There’s a covered patio at the back of the cabin. A front upper deck is in the shade for those hot days. We have a BBQ on the back patio & a fire pit in the backyard with firewood in the woodshed and kindling in a wood box by the back door. We also have firewood and wiener sticks in the blue shed beside the fence. We have Ladder Ball, Botchy Ball & the Corn Hole game.
We're close to the lake, the local grocery store with a restaurant, a great hardware store worth checking out, and a gas station a mile west on Highway 13. Our cabin is just 100 yards from the lake where small aluminum boats, canoes & other small watercraft can be launched at the end of the road that leads into the lake. There is a main boat docking area east on Lakeshore Drive.
Our cabin is not fancy & classy but we're clean & cozy! :)
We have a pontoon boat and are happy to take people out fishing for an extra charge if given a few days' notice to ensure we're here. We're close by on the lot next door if anything is needed.
There are a few places you may enjoy visiting.
~ One is the Grey Owl Meadery - just 10 minutes from the cabin, west on Highway 13 and south on Highway 22. We’ve been there a few times & the owners are friendly, have free wine tasting & great charcuterie boards. Here’s their phone # & link for more info: 780-542-1413 https://greyowlmeadery.com/.
There's a new shop just 10 minutes straight west on highway 13 close to Alder flats that offers specialty coffees, sweets and a place to shop for household signs, candles, soaps, jewelry etc. It's called 'The Place'.
~ There's also Open Creek Dam located less than 30 minutes from the cabin. It’s great for swimming, fishing off the dock (stocked with trout) and they offer free day use at their picnic sights & have a beautiful hiking trail around the lake. I’ve included the link here for more info & directions. https://rimbeyfishandgame.com/open-creek-campground.

Frequently asked questions
About the host
Hosted by Jack & Bev Oosterveld

We're originally from Edmonton, but now make Buck Lake our home. It's a great community with good people. We've enjoyed offering our cabin to people over the summer months & we've met so many wonderful guests when they've contacted us for help or to answer questions.
Why they chose this property
We bought this cabin 17 years ago as we had friends who live here & it gave us a place to get away from the city. We have great neighbors here and great amenities. We have a covered patio with a BBQ and a fire pit in the backyard for those nice starry nights. We are only 2 km from a well-stocked grocery store & a lovely café that has great food and specialty coffee and tea. There's also a hardware store that has almost everything, including fishing supplies. We enjoy the Grey Owl Meadery about 10 minutes away that offers wine tasting and makes a variety of great charcuterie boards and flat bread pizza. Another place we enjoy is "The Place" that's also about 10 minutes away & offers specialty coffees, treats and a store with many gift options, jewelry, candles, soaps, ect.
What makes this property unique
Our cabin is well stocked and has most of the extras you'll need to enjoy a great stay. We provide firewood for the outside firepit with chairs and a table. There are several sitting areas at the back of the cabin, and on the upper front deck as well. Our large 2-bed bedroom has a TV/DVD player combo that is a great room for families with kids. The controls are on the left & right side of the TV. We have a good collection of children and family movies to choose from. There is also a desk area with an office chair upstairs for those who must do a little work while on their vacation. We have 4 outside games for our guests to enjoy; corn hole, ladder ball, botchy ball & croquet.
We aim to please and are usually close by if our guests need anything.
