About this property
Edale...in Hertfordshire countryside. 15 minute train to London.
This is a beautifully presented charming home situated in the popular and tranquil Bywaters in the Hertfordshire countryside. This home features 2 bedrooms and 2 ½ baths. The downstairs lounge flows seamlessly into the dining room, then on to the brand new glass-ceilinged orangery overlooking the back garden. The orangery is my favourite room in the house, the perfect place to relax, read and meditate, it has a very special energy. The kitchen has recently been remodeled and features French doors leading out to a secluded garden where weather-permitting there is outdoor dining.
Upstairs is the master bedroom with an en-suite shower. Plus, a guest bedroom and a large family bathroom.
The home is located in the sought-after Bywaters Estate. The scenic Grand Union Canal, with its picturesque long boats, is just steps away. There are 16-minute trains to the hustle and bustle of London, yet this home is a short distance from lovely country walks in Cassiobury Park and Croxley Moor.
Rental includes full private use of the whole house, with the exception of a small storage room upstairs. It has off-street parking for two vehicles.

About the host
Hosted by Susie Wiggins
My name is Susie, and I’ve been a proud VRBO host for over ten years. Hosting isn’t just something I do — it’s something I truly love. One of the greatest joys for me is meeting wonderful people from all walks of life and knowing they’ve been able to relax, unwind, and feel completely at home during their stay.
I go out of my way to be available, approachable, and responsive, and I’m always happy to help with special requests or little extras that can turn a nice stay into a truly magical one. I want you to feel looked after, cared for, and very welcome from the moment you arrive.
Decorating is one of my great passions, and each of my homes has its own personality — thoughtfully designed, warm, and inviting, with comfort and charm at the heart of it all. No two properties are the same, but they all share the same intention: to feel like a place where you can instantly exhale.
I would genuinely love to host you and help create a stay that’s relaxing, memorable, and filled with joyful moments.

Why they chose this property
Edale is nestled in a very special little enclave called the Bywaters — a private estate of around eighty homes, quietly tucked away and wrapped in nature like a well-kept secret. It’s the sort of neighbourhood where life slows down, shoulders drop, and you remember how lovely “peaceful” can feel.
The area is gently embraced by the three rivers, and just steps from the house you’ll find a beautifully peaceful stretch of canal — perfect for meandering walks, morning coffee strolls, or pondering life in that very English way. Add to that the nearby Croxley Moor, a wonderfully calm, open space where you can breathe deeply, stretch your legs, and soak up that glorious fresh English air.
And yet — here’s the magic — despite all this tranquillity, the train station is within walking distance, offering fast, easy access to London. So you truly get the best of both worlds: vibrant city adventures by day, and peaceful countryside calm by night.
That’s why I chose the Bywaters.
It’s rare, it’s balanced, and it’s quietly beautiful — a place where you can explore, exhale, and feel completely at home.

What makes this property unique
This home originally belonged to my parents, and as I now live in America much of the time, it was very important to me to always have a place in England — a true home to return to. My mum especially wanted that for me: somewhere I could come for a few months each year and feel rooted again in my home country.
My father proposed to my mother in a little town in the Peak District called Edale, a truly beautiful and special place. From that moment on, every home they lived in throughout their 58 years of marriage was called Edale — and this home proudly carries that name too.
I have loved bringing this house to life again, from installing a brand-new kitchen to thoughtfully redecorating throughout. The conservatory is my favourite spot of all — a light-filled, peaceful space where I love to sit with a book, relax, and simply be. I have no doubt it will become your favourite place too.
This is a home filled with love, history, and warmth, and I truly believe you will adore it as much as I do.
