Dangerous patio/terrace doors self locked
Unfortunately we had a poor experience here. The door to the terrace has a button so you can lock it from the inside. Old fashioned but intends to ensure it can’t ‘sneck’ and lock when closed from outside. Unfortunately this door locked whilst we were on the balcony leaving us stranded for hours whilst a locksmith entered the flat from the front door to free us. The caretaker had no spare key (!?) and so couldn’t help.
The 120 euro charge for the locksmith was deducted from our security deposit which we feel is most unfair as the door mechanism is clearly faulty. It should not lock itself when gently closed from the outside to keep the heat in the apartment.
The owner refused to accept there is a problem with the door but there clearly is as it self locked. The locksmith assured us that it shouldn’t do this and is potentially dangerous.
If staying here DO NOT close this door. Ideally, choose somewhere maintained and safe.
