The down stairs includes a living room with a power recliner , leather couch that has a queen transformer bed which or rated for daily usage, full kitchen including a dishwasher, above stove microwave and coffee maker pots, pans utensils, plates , glasses , bowls ect and a 1/2 bath with a washer and dryer just off the kitchen in the utility room. The down stairs also has in slab heating for the chilly/cold days and a wood burning stove to get everything toasty and added ambiance. Outside has enough parking for 2 vehicles with trailers or 4 full size trucks. No vehicles are not on beyond the house or allowed on the concrete patio, this includes atv’s, snowmobiles, dirt bikes and utv’s. This is a kid friendly place. The amenities 4 kayaks, 2 paddle boards, a pier, ninja line, tree swing and an acre of tranquility throughout the year. This property is on a class A Muskie chain of 5 Lakes and has decent pan fishing off of the pier in spring through fall months, there is always a chance of hooking up with a Muskie or Northern.. This property also sits about 100 yards from a boat launch (patronage at Birchwood is appreciated). We are located on ATV and UTV trails (mainly asphalt) but dirt trails are a short drive away. The property is also on the snowmobile trails, just pull out of the driveway, take a left or right and you are on the trails. Unlike most lakes, Third lake doesn't require a boat lift, it doesn't get rough enough to need a lift, but that is my opinion. Simply throw your boat bumpers out and tie off to the pier.
The house is also equipped with a 14.5KW whole home standby generator, for those just in case power outage moments.

We enjoyed our stay and loved waking up to the view of the lake and deer eating in the yard. The house was clean and cozy. Chris was very responsive and helpful with any questions we had.
Perfect cabin with everything we needed to relax and enjoy family time! Very nice cabin with quality and comfortable amenities. Comfy beds, A/C kept us comfortable, easy to keep clean. Enjoyed the kayaks and paddleboards. Explored the quiet neighborhood, watched deer in the yard and cooked meals on the fire pit. Good food, drinks and friendly staff at Birchwood just a few doors down. Very enjoyable stay!
This is a beautiful property with lovely neighbors. It has been a very cozy Northwoods experience. The property owner is readily available for communication and needs.

Great renters, good communication. I was worried about the longer than usual rental but they were solid people.
The property is very well kept and nice. The area is close enough to Rhinelander if you want to shop or eat at a restaurant, but secluded enough on the lake for privacy. My only suggestion is for an umbrella outside on the patio table and a small vacuum cleaner for the rugs. When you are dealing with kids, a dog and sand, I like to clean up frequently. We had a great week and plan to be back next year!
What an incredible home and property. So comfortable and everything you need to have an awesome get away. Our kids (7 and 10) loved the ninja warrior course and the swing. We fished, kayaked and SUP. The girls even swam although there is no shortage of lily pads. We hope to be come back again. We sure appreciate the lovely stay and Chris was super easy to work with and quick to respond to messages.
We had a great experience on Moen lake. It is close to Rhienlander, so you have Walmart, laundrymat (with Ice Cream), and restaurants.
Chris is an excellent host. He was very responsive anytime we reached out. He reached out during our stay a couple of times to make sure we had everything we needed.
Highly recommended
This cottage was just what we were looking for. In the woods but also close to town. Well thought out amenities throughout the property. The air conditioning was a huge plus. We were so happy you allowed our dog Willa to vacation with us. I am not sure which of us was more excited about catching pan fish. We did bring our own kayaks but loved that there were extras on the property.
We enjoyed a 4 night stay on Third Lake. The owners really have invested in their property. It is rare for us to have a dishwasher, a gas stove, and laundry to use. The upstairs feels so modern. Their large patio and fireplace were very enjoyable. I would say that it is way better with a boat, to escape the lily pad area. We still caught fish from the dock, but they were pretty small. The owner Chris was very responsive, and understanding with an issue while staying there. Also great place for our dog, he had some room to run. We appreciated our stay. One of our best cabins over the years.

Hi Melissa
We actually have a newer 2019’ 14’ row boat coming up for next year. It’s in my driveway at home. So besides the optional pontoon boat rental and kayaks, there will be an aluminum row boat. Thank you for the feedback

This property is a joke.
Well, bless their hearts, the owners of this property have pulled off a miracle—taking a place that was already an eyesore and turning it into a full-blown disaster zone! This so-called “cabin” is basically a glorified landfill, where every item is either frayed, chipped, rusted, faded, or scratched. The plastic dishes look like they’ve been through a war with a cheese grater, and the frying pan? Gouged so bad it’s more of a modern art piece than cookware. The towels? Let’s just say they’ve been baptized in bleach and left to fend for themselves. The kitchen floor is a charmless slab of gray concrete that screams, “Welcome to despair!” The utensils are those flimsy plastic forks and knives you’d swipe from a fast-food joint, and the lighting? Dim 20-watt bulbs that make you feel like you’re squinting through a Victorian fog. Oh, and outside? It’s like living in a surveillance state with cameras everywhere, watching your every move like you’re the star of a low-budget spy flick. The lake? A cool 600 feet away (down hill) —might as well be on the moon. The TV? A 24-inch relic that probably still has rabbit ears in spirit. We tried to wrangle the household trash barrels to the street, but they were stuffed to the brim, heavier than our regrets for booking this place. At 81, I’m not exactly Hercules, and the owner—living a breezy four-and-a-half hours away—probably isn’t rushing over to help. And the cherry on top? The ever present mosquito colony!

I would never rent to this person again. The very first thing he did was call my personal number and complained about internet not being up to his liking. He suggested that I come up there(4 hour trip for me 1way) and solve his dilemma. I called spectrum and was told everything was fine. I called him back and texted with no response. The lack of communication and the amount of disrespect from him was unbelievable. I had numerous complaints from the neighbors about leaving outdoor lights on etc…. He wants a 5 star all inclusive resort and that is not what we offer. He was sent a PDF file about rules of the house.
The cameras are off when renters come up. I have a right to have security cameras
at our place. Exterior cameras
Utensils are not plastic
Yes the TV’s are small but smart tv’s so punch in your password and code for whatever app. I believe if you’re on vacation, you probably want to do stuff outside.
Mosquitoes, we’ll blame Mother Nature for the amount of rain received
The house has normal where and tear. Again not a 5 star all inclusive resort with maintenance staff at hand
I wish all other establishments good luck when it comes to this guy. He is rude, crude and has very high needs.
Third Lake Escape is about simplicity and a family vacation.
Clean, nice size, big backyard. No problems with internet service. Stayed for a softball tourney. Only about 10 minutes away from Hodag Dome. Very convenient.
It was the fall at its peak color. It was an amazing time of year to visit. Communication with the owner was great! There is a bar within walking distance with friendly staff and food. I got engaged out on the pier. It was a great weekend! This would be a good spot for a family of two as well!
Meticulously clean house and property. House is very new, I believe it’s less than 4 years old. Appliances all new and clean and everything worked properly. Communication between owners and myself was seamless, very responsive. Beds were comfortable, all linens smelled very clean as well. Dock was great for fishing. I would recommend this house to anyone that wants to experience the Northwoods in comfort.
