About this property

One bedroom cabin in Highlands, NC on a creek close to everything!

This cozy, park model cabin is nestled on Buck Creek Mountain right on a gorgeous creek. The rushing water of the creek, rock waterfalls, and lush mountainous terrain is an amazing getaway and is exactly what you'd want and look for with any mountain getaway to unwind, relax, and renew.
When leaving the cabin if you turn left and go down Buck Creek Road, you are just 7 miles to Franklin. Take a right out of the cabin going up Buck Creek Road and you will be in Cashiers or the Highlands. All three of these desirable towns are just a short drive. You can also drive the scenic Cullasaja River Gorge to get to Cashiers and Highlands as well. Along the way be sure to stop at the Cullasaja Falls, Dry Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Glenville Lake. Other nearby attractions include gem mining at Jackson Hole, antiquing at the nearby Whistle Stop, and each town has shops and dining which you won't want to miss.
There are plenty of attractions, restaurants, and local festivals/events in nearby Franklin and Highlands. Google the Discover Franklin, NC tourism, and Macon County Chamber of Commerce websites for attractions and festival/event schedules. Other desirable areas you won't want to miss: a 45-minute drive to Cherokee, Cherokee Casino, and the Smoky Mountains, a 90-minute drive to Asheville, a 60-minute drive to Murphy and so much more.
This one bedroom cabin is fully furnished with a kitchen that is ready for cooking, a full dining room table on the lanai overlooks the creek, a coffee bar with barstools, living room inside the cabin has a full-size sofa which also turns into a queen-size sleeper, a huge Lanai which has a full living room set with a sofa and love seat chair, electric fireplace, and TV with DVD player and Roku, full bedroom with a queen-sized bed and plenty of wardrobe and dresser space for all of your personal items and a mounted TV with Roku, large stackable washer and dryer, and bathroom with full shower, ceiling fans are in the living room, lanai, and bedroom. There is a gas grill on the deck for grilling, gas fire pit, and an outside dining set with 4 chairs to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful view of the mountains and busy creek.
No matter where you are in this cabin the rushing sounds of the creek can be heard and opening the windows allows you to enjoy the mountain air and the rushing creek to its fullest.
The internet offers wireless wifi anywhere in the cabin. Most cellular service works in the cabin but may be spotty at times and we walk out to the driveway and our phone calls work perfectly. The TV is set up with Roku TV or you can access any other service it offers if you have an account (just be sure to log out when you are done). The DVD player in the living room allows you to watch any DVD you wish located in the fireplace entertainment center (both sides-packed with DVD's). Please return them where you found them.

IMPORTANT: The driveway to get to the cabin is a little steep but is paved with asphalt so you should be fine coming and going (just go slow and you will be fine).
You may need to use the leaf blower on the driveway and deck during the months of October and November.

Smoking is only allowed outside of the cabin on the deck with the doors and windows closed.

About the host

Hosted by Tammy and Clint Berryhill

Host profile image
Clint and I are Floridians who love the mountains of NC. Our children spent many summers visiting the place and have so many fond memories of fishing in the creek and rafting down rivers and spending time in the mountains. Our oldest is a graduate of USF and our youngest is finishing college this year at FSU.

Why they chose this property

We have been going to the property for over 20 years and our children loved their time at the creek. The rushing sounds of the creek and slowing the pace down for a while in the Highlands and Franklin, NC allows us to disconnect and relax. The property in the mountains and the creek makes for the perfect mountain vacation getaway. There is so much to do from hiking, white water rafting, waterfalls, breweries, Cherokee Casino, Cherokee village, Asheville, and so much more.

What makes this property unique

Staying in the Highlands is conveniently located to so many places and taking day trips in any direction allows you to be home by the dark to enjoy the cabin and the rushing creek and mountain airs allow for great sleeping.
