Great Family Vacation

Perfect Lake Getaway!

The house and property exceeded our expectations! The lay out and size were perfect for our size family (10 guests) and we had plenty of extra room. Kitchen had everything we needed and the house was very clean. Awesome location on the lake. We enjoyed being in the cove where it was quiet and the water was calm. Amazing sunsets from the back porch and boat dock! Kids had fun fishing off the dock and the water was shallow enough for us to stand, which we liked. Rented the boat, jet ski, kayaks and lillypad and no issues with any of them. All worked great. The owners were easy to reach and very responsive. We hope to be back soon and would highly recommend!

Relaxing on the lake

Fort er Cove is an amazing lake getaway!! Melissa and Tony are 5 star hosts! The house is roomy comfortable and well equipped. The cove is quiet and a great place just to relax, floating in the water. My family did enjoy the jet ski, rented a pontoon boat, kayaked and paddle boarded .Fun was had by all. We would definitely rent again.

GREAT ACCOMMODATIONS!

This house was just as described…Plenty of space, excess of everything we needed, activities galore! We fished, kayaked, played catch, pool, shuffleboard and board games. And… a huge table for family meals! Couldn’t have been a better choice for Mom’s 90th birthday celebration! Thanks to the Fortner’s for the regular and clear communication about our stay! We had a blast!

Amazing Property

This property gets nothing but 5 Star reviews for a reason. The property was exactly what is promised, the communication with Melissa leading up to the stay was top notch, and the home itself was so comfortable and had plenty of room for our huge family to spread out. One of the things that I loved the most was the cove that the property is on which is perfect for swimming. We brought our boat and it was super easy to get it on and off. We all wish we had a few more days there!

Canton Weekend

Our group of 12 adults had a great weekend. The house was spacious enough for all of us and had lots of gathering spaces - living room, eat-in kitchen, game room, back porch, fire pit, and dock. The house was very clean and well maintained. We would definitely rent this property again.

So peaceful!

The house was perfect for our adult church group of 14! Everyone had a place at the big table. We enjoyed games, the fire pit, beautiful sunset! A really bad storm came through Saturday night and the host sent me a message about the warning she received on her phone and told us the safest place in the house. And she was on her 25th anniversary trip in Hawaii! Everyone of our group said I hit it out of the park with the house!

Extended Family retreat and Birthday

Perfect place to host an event with Family flying in from other parts of the USA. October is a great month in Texas to experience outdoor family fun with many activities to do around the house. The house provides ample sitting areas for folks to have conversations and enjoy family time. We had 12 people with different t ages and able to find plenty of places for folks to sleep. Lake level was down so didn’t bring boat or kayaks. The views are fantastic and the host is very accommodating.

Great weekend get away

We loved spending time with family and friends here. The property is beautiful with lots of space for people of different ages to engage in fun activities. The view of the lake is beautiful. The only issue we had was spiders inside and spider webs outside the property. The property can use some pest control for sure.

Fantastic family weekend

This was the perfect place for our family of 14 to have a fabulous, fun-filled weekend! The house is so spacious that everyone felt comfortable and was well furnished! We loved the large table where our family shared many meals together. The host answered our questions in a timely manner and check-in was easy. Even though the lake was down due to drought our family enjoyed the lake with kayaks and lily pad! This accommodation is truly a five star property! I would highly recommend to everyone!

We have been married for over 20 years and have always enjoyed vacationing with each other, extended family and friends. We are very excited to provide a home away from home for our family and yours!

Why they chose this property

We have been blessed to be in a family that has had 85 consecutive years of having a family reunion on the lake. There have been many wonderful memories made with multiple generations each year. We want the tradition to continue. We are beyond blessed to purchase this property that will be in the family for generations to come and bless many others along the way. There were many of homes to choose from, but one that we could envision many future memories being made with friends and family. We have named it Fortner Cove to keep the name in the family since we have three girls that will someday marry and leave their maiden names behind.

What makes this property unique

Just an hour from Dallas this home is an easy place for a quick getaway on the water. It is rare to find a 6 bedroom home that is single story. This makes for a great place to entertain those that don’t enjoy going up and down the stairs or for multigenerational groups to gather.

We are on in the middle of a quaint cove that offers calmer waters for fishing/swimming and water play while still seeing the open waters of Cedar Creek lake. We are an easy boat drive straight across the lake to the marina and Tiki Hut or boat over to Vernon’s for additional lakeside dining.

We are also in a great location that is minutes to town for shopping or a quick Walmart run rather than a 30-40 minute drive from other parts of the lake. This house is the total package for your group!
