About this property

Birch Bay Beach Cabana - a tiny oasis close to everything at the Bay. Pets OK

A small space in a great place!

The Cabana is a short walk to the beach and a 10-minute drive to the US/Canada border. The location is convenient for everything this area has to offer. The space is simple, clean, and modern with amenities selected for your convenience. The unit features a 32" TV, electric fireplace, Keurig coffee maker, microwave, and a/c.

Please Note: while the Cabana does not have a washroom ensuite a full bathroom is just steps away in the main house. The washroom is reserved for Cabana guests and accessible 24/7. For most guests this is not a problem as the washroom is close, just not in the room. For others (such as those who frequently use the bathroom at night) it can be less than ideal.

Over the years we've learned every guest has unique expectations and our #1 goal is to do our best to exceed your expectations. To do that we need to know what's important to you. It's for this reason we ask that you consider if not having a washroom ensuite is acceptable to you

Spectacular views of the Bay, San Juan's & Vancouver Island are waiting for you on the back patio and the world-famous "C" Shoppe is just down the hill. Close to everything Birch Bay offers yet the Cabana is quiet, private, and secluded. A peekaboo view of the bay is available from inside the unit

The well-maintained grounds of the property are open to guests. You may use the back patio where you'll find a grill and fire pit. Sunsets and stargazing on the patio are often a highlight for guests.

We offer free bicycle rentals while staying with us. We also offer kayak and SUP rentals which are just $25/each per day including all your paddling gear and free drop off/pick up beachside. There's no better way to experience the bay than on the water and we make it easy. Just show up at the beach and leave the rest to us.

NEW! We can arrange for golf cart rentals during your stay. A clean, comfortable and FUN golf cart can be yours for the day or just an evening to explore the area (Carts allowed in the Birch Bay Golf Cart Zone only). These deluxe, modern golf carts can carry 4, 6 or even 8 passengers and can be driven by anyone with a valid drivers license. It's one of the most fun ways to spend time here. We bring the golf cart right to your doorstep and from there you are free to go explore, get a bite to eat, enjoy the state park or whatever sounds good to you. When you are done you can drop your cart right in front of the Cabana. Ask your host for more information on availability, cost or to book a Golf Cart during your stay!

The Summer calendar is filling up fast! Make your plans to come relax and unwind in beautiful Birch Bay. The sun is out and the Bay is busy with BBQ's, sandcastle building and summertime family fun. Long summer days offer a chance to enjoy the many community events here or just kick back and watch the tide go in and out.

Maybe you want to catch crab or dig for clams? You could enjoy great local food, golf at one of the nearby award winning golf courses or take a hike through a coastal forest. Or perhaps visit a farmstand, the farmers market before getting pampered at a world class spa. Whether outdoors or in there is something for everyone here.

**PLEASE NOTE: While we do not charge any housekeeping fees there is a $35/stay fee for guests with pets (no additional charges for ADA-registered service animals per federal law). This covers dogs or cats (1 only - up to 50lbs) for up to a 5 night stay. Longer pet stays are accepted though additional charges apply for stays longer than 5 days. Please contact us for details.

***PLEASE ALSO NOTE: If you are traveling with a pet please check the box to indicate this on your reservation at the time of booking (or by changing your reservation after booking). A message is also very helpful. If we are unaware in advance that you are traveling with a pet it can (and almost always will) cause a delay in your check-in. In rare instances if we are not aware in advance we may be unable to accomodate your pet. Informing us in advance avoids delays or complications during check in.

About the host

I'm originally from Seattle but have been coming to Birch Bay since I was a kid. I spent my summers here with my Grandparents playing on the beach. I bought my own place in Birch Bay in 2001 because I wanted to give my kids the same experience. I bought this place in 2011 and after major renovations in 2017 made Birch Bay my full-time residence ever since. Today, I can't imagine living anywhere else. There are so many outdoor activities to enjoy plus it has that small town atmosphere I love yet it's still close to several large cities so that you can always find something to do.

I enjoy it when guests ask about places to go and things to do. It's fun to share a some of the things that make living here unique with visitors. The most rewarding part of hosting is when I can suggest to my guests a place to eat or something to do that they truly enjoy and would not have otherwise known about.

Why they chose this property

It chose me. I was riding down the road and saw a for sale sign and stopped and the then-current owner walked out and we started talking and the rest, as they say, is history.

I love this neighborhood because it's so peaceful and quiet and yet in a few short minutes you can be at the beach, on the water, across the border or run down to Bellingham. It is convenient to everything the area offers.

What makes this property unique

It's close to everything but still feels quiet and secluded. The evenings here are beautiful. Being so far north we are not in the shadow of the Olympic Mountain range so sunsets last forever, especially during the summertime. And after dark stargazing is spectacular. The property has a front row seat to natures endless parade of changes. From seabirds to orca whales to sea lions and winter storms the property never fails to deliver a first class view of Pacific NW nature in all it's diversity.
