About this property
Idyllic traditional house on Husøy Island
Welcome to our traditional Norwegian wooden house! It is over 100 years old, situated only 200m from the sea on the cozy island of Husøy. The house and property offer plenty of space and much of the original charm has been preserved. The property borders to a rocky forest creating a tranquil and sheltered place. Several beaches are only a short walk away. Husøy is connected to the mainland by bridges, only 6km to the cozy city of Tønsberg and Tjøme island. Several bikes and a kayak can be used.
You will stay in a typical red and white wooden Norwegian house. In addition, there are three smaller outbuildings and a large garden. There is a lot of space in and around the house. The inner yard is bordered on one side by bare rock with a small forest area on top. This area invites you to scramble around or take a short walk. Or you can just sit in the sun with a cup of coffee and enjoy the view. But there are also two balconies and a south-facing terrace with garden furniture to enjoy the tranquil atmosphere.
The house is a complete, large residential building with a partly modern interior. We actually just purchased the house a few months ago and are still in the process of finishing some of the rooms. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas stove, oven and dishwasher. The two bathrooms are on the small side, but have everything you need. The house can be lived in all year round. There is air conditioning and a cozy soapstone oven.
The television is equipped with an AppleTV for streaming of content and an HDMI connection for external playback devices. There is no regular cable/satellite TV connection.
Children will also have a good time in and around our house. There are books, toys, the doll's house in the garden, the hill to climb, the forest to explore and a sandy beach with a playground and of course the sea itself.
There are several small beaches, a soccer field, two beach volleyball courts, several playgrounds and even a 9-hole golf course within easy walking distance. A 4 km long walk leads around the island.
The supermarket is also just 1.2 km away just before the bridge to Husøy.

About the host
Hosted by Kathrin Guthmann

Our family, including our 3 small children, loves to travel. We used our last parental leave to spend a whole year exploring the other side of the earth that cannot be reached on a normal holiday. Originally, we come from Germany, but have been living in Norway for almost 15 years. Now we have bought our own typical Norwegian, old wooden holiday house. Based on our best travel experiences, we would like to share our home with guests from Norway and around the world. The house has a great, quiet location close to the Sea and a lot of charm. We will constantly develop it into a holiday idyll for us and our guests.
Why they chose this property
We use this property for private leisure as much as possible ourselfes, but like to rent out to nice people, when we can't use it. The property is a charming old house in a friendly neighborhood. The property is close to everything you may need, but still well protected and quiet. The small very private forest adjacent to the property provides a natural extension and great views. The sea is all around us and there is a strong maritime feeling in the air. We actually consider to move there completely at some point.
What makes this property unique
Large, charming old house on a beautiful property. Several small natural beaches to chose from. Many opportunities for sports and short leisure trips in the vicinity.
