We loved our stay at Barney's Bungalow - fantastic location only a few blocks from the beach, with everything you could need, and Barney was very communicative and helpful. We really loved the attention to details, and especially the visits from the local hummingbirds! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful space!

Little getaway

This stay was absolutely amazing. The bungalow was great and convenient to restaurants and the beach. The hosts were amazing. The view of the stars from the deck and sounds of the ocean were so peaceful. Definitely a 5 star stay!

This little bungalow is in a beautiful neighborhood. A 2 minute walk to beach. Owner, Barney, has the place stocked with everything you may imagine you need. Small little get away, but bigger than a hotel room, full kitchen, bedroom, bath and breakfast nook. So comfy. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed our interactions w/ Barney! Highly recommend and hope to stay again!

Bernie was so very welcoming-met us when we arrived- it’s quiet and cozy- one minute walking distance to the beach! Close to attractions, shopping and restaurants in the area. It’s a great couples getaway. I liked that it was pet and smoke free. We cooked most of our meals there - little kitchen was perfect. We liked eating on the raised porch and watching the hummingbirds. It seems to be a work in progress- but overall we enjoyed our trip.

Perfect little getaway spot

My wife and I wanted a change of scenery for a few days and found this listing. It was perfect for the two of us. Nice little cozy spot that was the perfect size for the two of us. Great proximity to the beach. A few very nice restaurants within walking distance. Barney was very easy to communicate with. A very nice deck to sit out on to enjoy your morning coffee or evening drinks. We would definitely stay here if we decide to visit the area again.

It's a whole vibe

Listing gives a very accurate portrayal of the place. It's made for couples, absolutely super-funky, a bit cluttered IMO (we didn't really care but you will find yourself stepping around things), and equipped with pretty much everything you need. It is smallish (and advertised as such) but it's fine/romantic for two. Short, direct walk to the beach. You can technically see the ocean from the deck, but it's more like a distant sliver. Still, the location is excellent and there are lots of places to hang out nearby. Host is easily reachable and outgoing (in a good way). It's rare for us to consider revisiting an OBX rental -- we like to stay all over the islands and try new places -- but we're definitely considering coming back here.

We were there for my uncles 84th birthday. He was in a rental just two blocks away. This was our getaway spot from the clan. I guess I did not expect the vibe of the bungalow. Bungalow should have given it away. I think Barney did not throw much of anything away. He has a place for it. That being said there was not much room to unpack clothing. The entire place is full of things. If your over 60 something it will remind you of the word hippy vibe and I’m well over 60 so I got it and understood the layout. Which was comfortable. Iron needs replacing.

We loved this place! It was private and secluded. Could see and hear the ocean from the deck. A short walk to the beach. A private deck to watch the stars at night (or a deer that wandered onto the property). Could walk to restaurants /bars. A short drive to Food Lion or Walmart for necessities and supplies. Close to the bridge, centrally located for venturing out to national parks and lighthouses and other towns. A quick drive to Roanoke Island. Could fish at the beach or just sit and relax and watch the pelicans or dolphins...not at all crowded. It was the perfect vacation spot for two. Loved the Bohemian decor and repurposed furniture. Can't say enough positive good things about this place. Stay here, you won't regret it!
