Lovingly restored farmhouse on the Colorado River less than a mile from La Grange's historic main square! Plenty of room for large groups to spread out and relax: separate upstairs and downstairs living rooms, three bedrooms, 1.5 baths, three porches, large yard, and firepit; Wi-fi and TVs in all rooms, 650' of river frontage and located next door to city boat ramp and fishing dock (perfect launching spot for tubes, canoes, boats or kayaks); 2.5 miles to Fayette County Fairgrounds (MS 150), and only 12 miles to Warrenton/Round Top Antique Fair. Great location in La Grange. This home is the ideal place to utilize as base camp for those participating in the MS150. It had all that we need for our support team and riders who were participating in the event.
Me and my Junk'n girlfriends LOVED this house.
Everyone loved how close to town it was, the porch and we had great talks and laughs at the Last Supper table (the dining room table is long and we nicked name it).
It has great country charm and a great view! Can't wait to book our Fall Trip!
The house was bigger than I expected from the photos. The 11 of us fit in fine. The yard gave nice shady space for playing outside. The back pasture was too wild to use for river access, but the boat ramp was a perfect alternative. It was not a busy area, but was situated close enough to town for easy access to groceries etc.
Property was easy to get to, the strung lights in the yard was a nice touch as we arrived after dark. Nice setting, with big back porch and chairs on a nicely mowed large yard. The house was nice, ample beds for my husband, my 2 sons & myself, comfortable, amazing antiques. IF I had more time, it would have been a beautiful float to the park stated in the info. Walked to the boat dock, beautiful, calm river. Location perfect for our wedding & reception venues. Much more convenient than hotels we were directed. Thank you for opening your home to us!
This location was a reasonable distance to travel, and offered river access to float. The house offered lots of games for kids to play. Plan ahead to bring bug repellant or citronella candles if you're visiting during anytime of year other than 'winter' (we don't really have winter). The combo washer/dryer wasn't great. It held my laundry hostage for about three hours and the clothing was nowhere near dry. Linens were clean as well as the kitchen. The kids enjoyed the deck and played games out there every evening.

Vacation
The house is accessible for 14 people, it has a huge and very comfortable outdoor patio, the river is a 5-minute walk away but it is not suitable for swimming in it. The washing machine in the house does not work, the cleaning of the house is very bad, my family and I found a lot of dirty things, some windows on the ground floor and on the second floor could not be locked and they are open in that part, I did not feel safe. The house is very comfortable to sleep and cook in, I loved the upstairs balcony and I like that the food stores and restaurants are nearby. the house needs a lot of repairs, it's a bit old
Unfortunately we did not like the place. First the goods:
-Nice location, if you come here for the river, the river is just some steps away.
-The yard is large and the grass well kept.
-The little porch in the second floor is small but nice.
-The couch in the second floor and lounge area is nice.
-Lots of TV's and good wifi
-Pets are welcome
What we didn't like:
-The house is old, so it is very, very drafty.
-The house was could be cleaner.
-The beds were not comfortable.
-The stairs to the second floor are very steep and tight.
-The bathroom in the second floor is just laughable.
In general while there were things that did not fit our needs, this house could fit others a little better. I would just suggest the host to put a little emphasis in the cleaning the toilets and shower a little better.
The only downsides to the property were:
1. Needs a deep down clean - the furniture, beds, linen, blankets were all fresh and clean, but the house itself needs a deep down clean (really dusty baseboards, old dead bugs in corners, lots of cobwebs in ceiling light fixtures and corners. I don't mind old and rustic at all, but really like a very clean place when vacationing.
2. Some road noise since just off Hwy 71 and periodic railroad noise. We are all good sleepers, so even if awakened by the train, it was easy enough for us to get back to sleep.
3. Outside string lights were beautiful, but appeared to be on a timer that was out of reach and lights stayed on all night. So, without full window shades in some bedrooms, it was very bright in some rooms. Again, we are good sleepers, so did not bother us much, but timer might need to be reset for lighter sleepers.
And now the PROS:
1. Cute house - pretty true to the pictures. Nice, big and private property.
2. Great location - only about 15-20 minutes to Warrenton/ RoundTop (we were there during the week). And just a stone's throw from the cute town square. Close to 2 yummy restaurants and a bakery (Ere's Italian -can bring your own wine or go to the bar next door and buy a bottle; LasFuentas Mexican - very good Tex-Mex but margaritas were "meh"; and Lukas bakery - get there early, they sell out)
3. Even though the house is rustic with small rooms downstairs, the conversational space was good and comfortable.
4. The outside deck is on the back of the house and we had great weather, so we used this space a lot. Very enjoyable to look out over the pastures, wonderfully breezy, outdoor dining table that sat 5 (one patio chair was broken), nice hammock and cute hanging chair. With the string lights on, there was a really nice ambiance for sipping wine and having great conversation among friends.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and with a little more attention to cleaning detail it would be excellent.
It’s an old farm house. Perfect for me and my family to celebrate Thanksgiving.the location was perfect. Has everything you need to make Thanksgiving and cooking a Turkey possible. If you’re city girl or guy and want new and modern this isn’t the place for you. If you love cozy, a spacious little 3 bedroom house with privacy and place a place for everyone this is the place for you! I’ll definitely be back.
Very nicely located for Round Top Flee Market visit. Felt like home and we were welcomed by freshly baked goods. At night we made a fire in the pit and enjoyed sitting around talking. Seems like a small house from the outside but on the inside the layout was very spacious. Thank you for the hospitality and all the texts back and forth making us feel warm and welcomed.
We love loved it. You had such nice little thoughtful amenities throughout. The homemade muffins were such a sweet welcome. Thank you so much for everything!!
We stayed here for our anniversary and really enjoyed the property. The house is quaint and cozy, the property is beautiful and quiet. There is construction on the road right in front but is not bothersome once you know where to turn in. The property is very close to downtown and a quick drive to Round Top. We will definitely be back!
Very comfortable house with a lot of considerate touches by the host. Sitting on the balcony under the stars was very relaxing. In cooler weather sitting around the firepit in the evening or on the back deck would be very enjoyable. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped and well supplied. Spacious enough to allow for separate times while also having places to gather. Air conditioning and ceiling fans could easily handle the Texas heat. A homemade loaf of banana bread and a snack basket helped make us feel very welcome. Host was very accommodating and helpful. Would definitely stay again.
The house is lovely! It reminded me of the house I grew up in - built 100 or so years ago. I loved the antique fixtures and furniture. The floors and windows are still in great condition. The fire pit was perfect for chillaxin and star gazing, and the pasture view from the back was captivating, with lots of cows and deer. Our dog found a breach in the fence and tried to play with the cows! We were told that it will be fixed. We had some minor issues with cleanliness and I have no doubt that will be corrected as well. The location is great - close to downtown and several parks along the Colorado river. We will stay here again if we find ourselves in La Grange!
I found this to be a lovely, comfortable house to stay in. The house is surrounded by plenty of open acreage…so no need to turn down the volume while streaming Jerry Jeff Walker. This property is right on the banks of the Colorado river which I hear is good for fishing , but I wouldn’t know given I’m a terrible fisherman. Downtown LaGrange is a short distance, and we enjoyed walking the scenic town square. I recommend Las Fuentes Mexican restaurant just off the main square.
This house is amazing!!!! Beautiful is and understatement, this place is amazing and family friendly. The kids had allot of room to spread out and we were all comfortable. The pups had a great big yard to play in. The back pourch is huge and we spent allot of time relaxing and cooking. This house has anything you could think you would need. There is a river for fishing and. Swimming. It’s very close to the safari which was so fun. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone coming to the area.
