This was one of the most frustrating travel experiences I’ve ever had.We booked this property for a baseball tournament and checked in without any issues. Later, several teammates stopped by to visit. Before allowing anyone over, we reviewed the listing and saw that parties and events, including family gatherings, were allowed with a maximum of 30 attendees. Based on that, we believed we were following the property’s stated rules.Shortly afterward, the host began sending messages accusing us of violating the rules, threatening to call the police, and ultimately canceled our reservation while we were already at the property. We immediately cooperated, cleaned up, packed our belongings, and prepared to leave.During a recorded call with VRBO, the situation was explained and it became clear there had been a misunderstanding. The host later stated that we could stay after all. However, by that point the reservation had already been canceled, we had packed everything, and we were making arrangements for alternative lodging. As a result, our group had to scramble late at night to find hotel rooms and completely change our plans. There was no property damage, no police involvement, and no issues beyond the initial misunderstanding. What makes this especially disappointing is that despite the misunderstanding being clarified, we were never refunded. Overall, this experience was stressful, costly, and completely avoidable.
