This was our second time staying in Janet’s home and we loved it! The beds are super comfortable and it’s nice and quiet with plenty of space to have dinner/relax and for everyone to sleep.

I am always looking for ways to improve the guest experience.
Thank you,
Janet
House was accurately represented and was exactly what we were looking for. The house was clean and well-appointed. The location is centrally located and an easy ride to almost any neighborhood. The host was a quick and friendly communicator.
This was a great place for my husband and I, my parents, and my toddler to stay for the weekend with plenty of space to play, eat, and sleep. We loved all the art too!

I would not stay at this property again. The listing photos appear to be heavily edited and do not accurately reflect the current condition of the space. In person, the property feels noticeably outdated and not as well-maintained as presented online. One of the biggest concerns was the odor. There was a persistent, stale smell throughout the home that did not go away during our stay. It seemed embedded in the space—possibly due to poor ventilation, lingering cooking odors, or lack of deep cleaning. It made the environment uncomfortable.Another major issue was safety. There is an outdated basement door that had a key left in it, which did not feel secure at all. It appeared that the door could be easily accessed or compromised, which raised serious concerns about the overall security of the property.Overall, the property did not meet expectations based on the listing. I would strongly encourage the host to update the photos to reflect the true condition of the space, improve ventilation and cleanliness, and address the security concerns immediately.

It is unfortunate that my home did not meet your expectations.
There has been no editing of the photos on the site.
The house was like it was described in the listing. It was very spacious for our family of 5. When we arrived, all the upstairs windows were open, making the house very cold since it was in the 40s. Directions on how to set the heat would be helpful. There were about 4-5 modes to choose from on the thermostat controllers. Overall, it was a good experience. The host, Janet, was very easy to work with and responsive to my questions.

Some friends and I had a great stay here. The location is perfect to get to Highland Park/East Liberty/Shadyside or over the hill to Lawrenceville. The house was clean and we enjoyed using the kitchen to cook some meals. We will definitely stay here again when in town to visit family.

Communication with owner was great. Even sent over an extra fan for the third bedroom given the weather forecast for some hot days. Would stay again.

The best parts about this stay are the very comfortable beds (although they might be a bit tight for 2 sleepers), quality AC units in bedrooms, beautiful decor, easy-to-use security system, Netflix in the living room, and we never had an issue parking outside. I am happy we stayed here.

The place was the perfect size for my group of friends. It was an easy location to have as our homebase as we explored. Pittsburgh and I especially enjoyed getting up early and climbing up to the Garfield community garden at the top of the hill. Everything was just as described, and it’s a place I would definitely recommend to others looking for a comfortable space to enjoy Pittsburgh from

We were in town for the Taylor Swift concert and had a nice stay at Janet's place. The house was spacious and comfortable. The only con I would say is that the area was not very walkable.

Thanks for taking the time to review my home. I can't do anything about the area not being walkable. Were the sidewalks closed off?
The location was perfect for our stay in Pittsburgh. I was pleasantly surprised by the condition of the house. The amenities were right on and provided us with the comforts of our own home. The property owner was very responsive to any questions or concerns I had and made me feel right at home. Looking forward to my next stay at the Art House.

We ended up coming to town during the Marathon weekend. It was not ideal since we wanted to get to the strip but it was not feasible for getting out of town. We enjoyed the VRBO we chose, quiet neighborhood and easy to get around.

Janet was very nice and great to respond with any issues. The property was clean enough although the area wasn't the greatest. Would not recommend for families with children.

About the host
Hosted by Janet Clodfelter
I married a man from this area years ago. We visited here most holidays and very summer. Tiring of intruding homes of relatives ...we finally have a place of our own!
Why they chose this property
I truly love going to the Strip District. Some weeks I go 3-4 times! It is like a carnival in some respects. Italian grocers yelling about cheese, outdoor merchants selling Steeler Nation merchandise, beautiful and delicious pastries, best coffee ever and an occasional sax player on the street . You can buy everything you need for a delicious meal to prepare in our kitchen. It takes around 10 minutes to drive to the Strip from our house.
What makes this property unique
Comfortable beds, total black out window shades, split units for climate control, hand held shower device, recliner for watching TV or resting in the living room and most kitchen amenities that you may desire. We also have a large covered front porch and four ball park chairs if you want to sit outside.
