About this property

Historic Log Lodge on Quiet Lake

This historic lodge was built in the 1920's as a fishing retreat. We are only the third owner in 100 years.

It's located on a quiet lake, surrounded by 90 acres of big timber with trails for hiking and skiing. Deer, bears, eagles, otters, beavers, loons, coyotes are our neighbors.

If you like nostalgic places, including slamming screen doors, this is for you. The property is rustic and well-maintained. We welcome quiet guests who will treat this special place with the utmost respect and care.

The main lodge has three bedrooms, each with two twin beds. It sleeps six people. NOTE: The kitchen/dining is located in a separate building. This lodge was built before AC so they kept the kitchen separate.

The great room has lounge furniture facing the stone fire place, and a small library area with a table for cards and games.

The large screen porch overlooking the lake has two large sliders, rocking chair and two tables with chairs.

There are two bathrooms. One has a shower and sink, the other has a toilet, tub and sink.

The kitchen and dining area is located in an adjacent building. It is fully stocked with cookware and serving pieces.

UPON REQUEST: We have two other buildings that can be rented. Ask about pricing.
The Bunkhouse has seven twin beds, a large screen porch and one bathroom.

The Caretaker's Cabin has a double bed, a twin bed and bathroom.

The dock features beautiful sunsets and the log pergola is perfect for coffee, cocktails and dining.

The boat house has a canoe for guests' use. We can accommodate a request for kayaks also.

There are trails for hiking, biking and skiing.

No pets, jet skis or ATV/UTVs.

We have a gas grill and a campfire ring.

We provide low speed internet (2 mbps) and a landline for calls. No TV.

If you have T-mobile phones, you may get good cell service.

Only the registered guests are allowed on the property. If this rule is broken, your reservation will be cancelled immediately with no refunds.

This is a very special property! You drive down your own private driveway 'tunnel' through towering pine trees and then you are in the midst of your own private compound. The main house is beautiful and overlooks the lake facing west, so the sunsets are spectacular. Bedrooms are on the small side (actually the beds are very small... something to consider if you are on the taller side!), but that's to be expected for a 100 year old house. We were surprised that there was no kitchen in the main house- you have to go outside to the 'Dining Cabin', which is quite large but then itself does not have a bedroom or bathroom, which was strange. Bathrooms were very nice, and we *loved* the water pressure! There's also a large 'bunk house' with at least 8 beds and a bathroom/shower that was nice but we did not use. There's a fire ring circle over looking the lake, and also an outdoor kitchen to grill/BBQ on between the Main house and the Dining Cabin. The Boat house and attached dock/covered pavillion were quite nice and was perfect to dock my fishing boat which I took for the week. The only constructive feedback I would provide is that it would have be nice to use the indoor fireplaces.... Having rented high end places before (Garmisch Resort on Lake Namakagon), we could always use the fireplace, but here you can't... I would have been willing to sign a waiver or otherwise provided extra insurance. The host was a great communicator, overall I would stay again!

Absolute Gem of a Cabin

Most wonderful cabin on a quiet, beautiful lake. The entire property is like taking a journey through time. Such an amazing historic place.
