Overall impression very relaxing, felt like home. The owner was extremely friendly. We enjoyed our stay very much! Got away from the floods of Kerrville, just what we needed.
We loved Casa Vida. Robert was an excellent and communicative host. Property was neat and clean, even better than we expected. Gorgeous stained glass window in master bedroom! We loved the outdoor seating areas. It is a great place to use as a base for touring the Big Bend region. It is also a nice place to just chill and relax.
Great location in an area of Alpine that is close to everything. Its a home not a house, great outdoor seating areas and just the right size for my family.Hung out outside and admired the views and the desert fauna and rocks. Its kind of like a snippet of Alpine and the surrounding area in the backyard.
We had a great stay at Casa Vida in Alpine, which met and exceeded our expectations in all respects! Very homely and well equipped house, great decor, good location, comfortable beds and couches etc. We loved sitting outside in the sun for breakfast. Would definitely stay again!
Very unique property, as described by the listing. Great communication with the owner, overall enjoyed our stay. Great homebase for a trip down to Big Bend.
Very unique property with a lots of charm and all the comforts of home. The property owner was great and easy to communicate with. Perfect location for exploring the Big Bend area. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this property for anyone interested in the Big Bend area.
We were there in spring! They have a beautiful cactus garden and several great outside seating areas for sitting, drinking, eating. We thoroughly enjoyed it and did a little cooking and found all we needed.
This home was a wonderful example of southwestern living from the past with more modern conveniences. Decor is beautiful as pictured when we were looking for a place to stay for 10 days in Alpine. The yard is spacious with plenty of seating options so we were able to stay cool enjoying the breeze even with temperatures in the 80’s and 90’s. Even the house stayed comfortable with the heat.
The property was so cutely decorated. I love all the Talavera pottery items. There were three of us so we had plenty of room and privacy. We enjoyed Alpine and went on day trips to Big Bend, Fort Davis and Macdonald Observatory We would for sure stay here again. Very reasonable rates
The house and property were very quaint. Perfect for three elderly sister's that love to travel. The house was very comfortable and well stocked. We will definitely stay here againLoved all the terracotta tile and talavera decorations all throughout the house and outside.outside.

Spent a weekend in Alpine to visit with some family and enjoyed this home so much. It is decorated with thoughtful touches & we didn’t want for anything! The house is also centrally located to everything, but my favorite part is the outdoor space. It is a great place to sit under tge West Texas sky at night or in the morning with a cup of coffee. We will definitely return.
My wife and I spent 10 days traveling around West Texas. We stayed in this house the last 2 nights. It was our favorite place to stay on our trip. Super clean house in a nice location. Great outdoor areas to enjoy the evening. We loved the fact that Lyle Lovett wrote some songs there. It will be our go to place for future trips to Alpine.
We were 2 couples and the house was perfect for us. The yard was lovely. We had lunch in the garden one afternoon, when our friends joined us to tour Alpine. We would not stay there in the summer months as the AC would not be adequate. We were there March 24 - 28. The weather was perfect to have the windows open. We would stay there again.

Hi Audrey,
So glad you found the house perfect for you, the garden lovely, and that you would stay at Casa Vida again! We'd love to have you back!
As for the A/C, many people are not familiar with evaporative cooling systems in arid climates, but I assure you that once it's engaged for the warm season, you would be in complete comfort. I've had no complaints on that in 15 years!
All the best,
Robert

The location wasn’t what we had expected but we found our stay to be comfortable and the house roomy enough for two couples.

Charming Place but poor management.
This is a really cute and unique place in a charming town. Lots of room and comfortable beds. Reasonably priced. We had issues with a couple of items not working, but the owner addressed them, and compensated us appropriately for our inconvenience. Highly recommended.
House was exactly as described. Owner communication is good. Temps were cold during our stay, and they only have space heaters in the house so it was chilly.
Overall, very spacious, much more than we really needed.
Would be perfect during fall weather to enjoy a fire and the big Texas sky.
Convenient location in town near food, shops, etc!

So sorry you were not comfortable with the temp. We've had many, many guests during the last 15 winters at Casa Vida and this is the first issue of this sort I can recall. The trick may be in adjusting the heaters and I'm always available to advise! Thanks
Cute house, but wasn’t happy about the neighborhood. We did fine tho. No problems.

Dear Reader,
The vast majority of our guests agree that part of Casa Vida's magic and uniqueness is due to its physical and cultural setting. I encourage everyone to engage our neighbors in conversation to learn what beautiful, interesting, and caring people they are. If, however, you might be someone who could feel uncomfortable in an environment that might be different from your ordinary, everyday life, I recommend that you select a travel destination other than Casa Vida.
Thanks for your support!

Cada Vida provided an excellent retreat in one of our favorite west Texas towns. We especially liked the large yard and the various outdoor areas on different sides of the house. The beds are comfortable, but be aware that the two front sleeping areas are quite close, while the master suite is secluded. The two rooms with fans stay very cool while the middle room can get rather warm because the curtains don’t fully cover the windows. If you are planning to cook, be aware that temperature precision is difficult on the older stove and oven. The house is in a great location, making it easy to walk around Alpine. Thanks for a nice, relaxing place to stay, Connie.
