We really like to stay here when down in Brown County for cycling adventures. The units are clean and well appointed, the setting is gorgeous, and the Story Inn down the hill is always delicious.
We loved the cozy cabin and location. There are beautiful views of the woods. Dinner at The Story Inn was fabulous.
Brown County State Park and hiking is nearby.
The town of Nashville is charming.
Lovely property in Story, Indiana. Very clean and comfortable 4 suite cabin located up a good size hill surrounded by lush woods. It doesn't disapoint. I would stay again.
Our family loved this cabin! It was a great place to come home to after busy days of hiking and exploring downtown Nashville. We enjoyed playing games on the deck and finishing our evenings cozied up inside with family movie nights. It was spacious enough to not be tripping over each other but still kept our family together for quality time.
My best friend and I stayed in your beautiful cabin and had the opportunity to take a few days away from our day to day routines and responsibilities. We had a wonderful time! You created a cozy and inviting space that promotes relaxation and rest. We loved the town of Story and enjoyed the beautiful woods surrounding your property. We hope to be back again for more fun!

It was very peaceful , not as clean as i'd hoped, i have terrible allergies & couldn't sleep well . For the most part it was pretty clean except the thick layer of dust under the bed. Overall we enjoyed our trip & loved how peaceful it was
We enjoyed ourselves. Peaceful & quiet. People at Story Inn were quite rude when we asked to get food for ourselves and our kids. That was about the only major issue.
The Rustic Retreat was a little ways outside of Nashville in the neighborhood of the Story Inn, an old inn from 1851. The Retreat was clean, well stocked with cookware and utensils, and just the right size for the three of us. The deck is shared with the neighbors, but plenty large for us to make S'mores and enjoy the peace and quiet and the beauty of the area.
Just a 15 minute drive to downtown Nashville and about a 12 minute drive to the North entrance of Brown County State Park, Rustic Retreat is out of the way in a good way, but close enough for plenty of family activity.
This was my second time staying at this property, this time I traveled with my in laws and booked the adjoining room as well this time. Area had a lot of snow the evening of checkin, but we had 2 meals at the Story Inn and one in the kitchenette. Got a little shopping done in Nashville once the roads were cleared. And of course enjoyed the sauna! A slightly snowbound trip but beautiful and low key and enjoyable. Would book again if I’m in the area, maybe a different season since I’ve done winter twice now…
We had a great time at the Rustic Retreat! We usually rent camp off the motorcycles, but with the weather being a little unpredictable and still pretty chilly at night we decided to rent a cabin instead. It was clean and comfortable with lots of thoughtful touches by the owners. It was in a beautiful wooded setting overlooking the Story Inn. We were glad we rented the unit with the stove because places to eat are a little limited especially early in the week since it’s not peak tourism season for the area. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed for simple meals including some staples like olive oil, salt & pepper, etc. We will definitely consider staying there again.
My husband and I attended a rehearsal dinner on a Friday evening at Hard Truth and a wedding on Saturday evening in the country of brown county- it’s was a no kids allowed wedding so we brought my mother in law with us! It was plenty big for all 5 of us and they took lots of hikes and walks down to Story while we were gone. The whole property and town is simply enchanting. The cabin space was immaculate and they had all the amenities you could need. We all felt secure and safe. 10/10. Can’t wait to book our next stay!

We are so so happy that you enjoyed your stay! Can't wait until next time!
Great location, peaceful and quiet setting. The unit was well equipped throughout. A short walk to the Story Inn is really nice. We ate at the grill and it was good fare. The Inn is a very rustic, old time town setting and is great to experience.
This is a fantastic cabin in a great setting. It had everything we needed plus snacks, coffee and ingredients to make chocolate chip cookies. Everything worked and the views were breathtaking. It was clean and well stocked. I’d highly recommend this cabin and hope we get to stay here again.

Hello, we are Matt and Cara. We are real estate brokers by day and live two hours away from the cabin. We live on a small farm with our beloved animals and we enjoy horseback riding, boating, camping, and outdoor life.
Why they chose this property
We were married in Story in the summer of 2020 and fell in love with the town and people. When the log cabin sitting up on the hill overlooking Story became for sale, we decided to purchase it as a place to stay during our frequent visits, and as an investment property so others could enjoy it as much as we did. We've added many amenities since the purchase and continue to improve the property as we are able. We hope you love it!
What makes this property unique
The cabin is located next to several trail heads connecting to Hoosier National Forest and Brown County State Park. We are a short walk down the driveway from Story Inn.
