Scottsdale get-away

Great location! Convenient to everything. Wonderful walking trails nearby. Quiet neighborhood. Too cold to use the pool. We’ll stocked kitchen-good appliances. Bathrooms could use updating. All things considered-a great, relaxing stay!

Time warp

If you like shag carpets, cupboards full of junk, a dirty swimming pool, creatures running around in the bathroom wall, a BBQ that has now been cleaned in a long time, you’ll love this place. The appliances were modern except for the BBQ and the inside was clean Clearly VRBO does not inspect its properties very well.

Disappointed

I think I overpaid for what I received, and that was a disappointment. I think the house could be updated and organized to justify the cost I paid. The kitchen is updated but not organized. The host was polite, kind, and available to help out right away which helped make my stay tolerable. I thought the location was good, thanks to the fantastic bike trails.

Great location, but house needs better regular care

This home is large, 1 level and in a great location. Covered area by pool is excellent. We stayed for spring break with 3 teens and a small extended family. The owner is very nice, very responsive via text & phone. The house just needs better housekeeping, care and maintenance. Papers and junk stuffed under all the beds; aero bed had a big hole in it so my son had to sleep on the couch. Only 2 of the 5 bikes were working; lights burned out throughout the house and never replaced. Mold in the master bathroom tile shower. Not one sharp knife in the place and all the dishes mix/match. The bedroom pillows need replacement and were stained. There were no extra sheets or even blankets for sleeping outside the bedroom (say on the couch) and rakes, some empty water bottles, "stuff" laid out on the yard and around the sides of the house. Again, the owner is very nice - I would just encourage them to take a few days off in the busy seasons and clean all the linens thoroughly, replace pillows & towels as needed, make sure the home is worthy of the price and high usage.

Did not Meet Expectations

We (two couples) chose house/property based on location and layout with the primary BR on one side of the house separated from the other BRs. Location was as expected, but overall maintenance of the house was sorely lacking. 2nd bathroom shower serving the 3 BRs was just a bit more than a trickle where our guests had to lean against the shower wall to get wet. Both pocket doors separating the three BRs/bathroom from the TV room were off track and could not be closed, leaving the bathroom visible from the rest of the house. The main TV did not work, and I was told by the host contact Direct TV myself to resolve the issue, which I did. Kitchen window coverings were missing and other window coverings were in such poor condition that we did not dare operate them. The two bathroom shower areas exhibited rather shoddy tile repair work and bathroom vent fans were hanging down from the ceiling. The outdoor area by the pool was somewhat messy and had caution tape hanging from some areas. We contacted the host (vacationing in Australia at the time) and while he was generally responsive and apologetic, he acknowledged knowing about the inoperable pocket doors and expressed surprise at the other issues noted above and said we should have called the emergency contact to have those items addressed. However, those and other issues had clearly existed for some time and should have been taken care of beforehand, not while we were there. Overall, our stay fell far below our expectations.

Needs updating and care

The location of the house is great. The interior and pool area are in need of a fair amount of renovation and updating. There are missing bulbs in fixtures, cracks in various places, the fan fixture in the master bath is hanging out of the ceiling, cobwebs, pool area furniture is dirty, etc. There is some type of critter running around above the master bedroom and bathroom in the ceiling or on the roof. The owner said he’d never had that complaint yet there is a trap on top of the roof over the bedroom that we photographed when we went to investigate. You’re required to strip beds and put all linens and towels in the laundry room, start a load of laundry and if there’s more than 2 loads you get charged. You have to pay in advance to get propane to heat the pool yet it took almost 2 weeks to get the refund for the unused portion and that was only after asking several times. For the rental price, these types of items should be included. The house could be fantastic if it were taken care of over the years so it’s a shame to see it’s current condition.

On the positive side, the house was conveniently located to local attractions, did have a remodeled kitchen with new appliances and was well stocked with linens. However, the the exterior is not maintained. The website photo shows lush green grass bordering the pool. During our stay, the back yard was muddy with the hose strewn about. The outdoor furniture was dirty and rusting. The swimming pool was not clean. Numerous tiles on the patio are chipped. Many were dirty with coffee and wine splatter. The base of the toilet in one bathroom is either stained, leaking or not cleaned. The door is wet and has wood rot damage. The property is not well maintained.

Great location. Near everything in Scottsdale.

Kitchen updated. Pool & deck inviting. Owner responsive. Good/great walking trails/restaurants nearby. Hiking trail-heads a short drive away. Played the golf course on which the home is situated, and reckoned that the home is on #16 of the Palms course at McCormick Ranch. McCormick is not a premier golf course, in my personal opinion, but it`s a good place to knock some rust off your golf game without spending a lot of money or driving time to get to a golf course. And tons of other golf options are near-by. Easy drive to old Scottsdale to shop & dine. Easy drive north for other shopping and dining options.

AMAZING PLACE!

Location Location Location. I almost booked a home in North Scottsdale but I opted for this home based on the location in the description and I am so glad I did. The home was close to everything!! Everything was within 5 to 15 minutes by car. There was also great bike trails and walking trails by the home and a private lake walking trail. The house itself was great well maintained, very clean and nicely furnished. The kitchen was fully equipped, there was a full washer and dryer. 4 large bedrooms, an extremely large living room, a separate family room and about 5 different eating areas. The home is also located right on the golf course but set back for privacy but yet you have amazing views, the positioning on the golf course is perfect as there is zero chance for a golf ball. The other thing I loved is you are allowed to walk the golf course early morning or after 5pm and there is a gate right from the home to the golf course which was really nice. I also considered the home as great value for what you get compared to what you would pay for a hotel or a condo in the area. The back yard had an enormous covered patio great for entertaining and the pool was much bigger than a standard backyard pool I would say it was twice the size of most pools I have seen in other vacation rental homes I have stayed in. The owner was extremely responsive and helpful. He gave me lots of great tips of what to do in the area. I would highly recommend this home to couples, singles, guys or gals golf outing and or a family trip. The home has a great floor plan and has a lot of space for a large family or a large group. I will definitely book this house again!

Great House-Unbeatable location.

This house sincerely is in an unbeatable location. You have walking trails, biking trails all by the house. You have everything nearby. We could have just rented bikes to get around. The Kierland shopping center is nearby the Fashion Mall is nearby. The baseball training center is nearby. The other thing we enjoyed is this home is located right on the golf course and there is a gate out to the golf course which you are allowed to walk in the mornings and evenings and it is just beautiful and peaceful. The home is positioned on the golf course where you still have privacy and no change of an incoming golf ball. The house itself is well laid out and nicely appointed. The master bedroom bed was the best I have ever slept in! The kitchen had just been recently remodeled with all new stainless steel appliances! The home also had all new flooring. The house was well maintained and the cleaner definitely did a great job. The home was very very clean! The outdoor area was great as it had a LOT of covered patio if you wanted to stay out of the sun the covered patio was probably over 750 SF alone and yet there were a lot of areas to sun yourself as well. All the bedrooms had their own TV plus there was 2 more TV's in the living room and family room. All the TVs were newer flat screens tvs. The owner was nice and extremely responsive to my numerous questions. He gave me a lot of ideas and pointers of what to do and see!. Oh I forgot to mention just down the street is the Hyatt Gainey Ranch which every night has a live band and the public is welcome. Also the Gainey Village shops are just down the street and a brand new Whole Foods Grocery just went in and the Gainey Village Healhclub and spa is also just down the street. The owner was able to get me a day pass for a fee and I highly recommend going to this Healthclub it was rated top 10 in the US and had numerous fitness classes,and thee best gym I have ever been too. I loved this neighborhood, home and location. I will definitely come back and I highly recommend it to familes, couples, singles, golf outing. I almost booked a home in North Scottsdale but I am so glad I chose this one as I spent zero time in the car! Oh one last thing there is a bike rental place very close to the home and I rented a bike to bike the amazing bike trail system right by the house. You can bike from the house all the way to ASU on a bike trail system or way up to North Scottsdale. It is a must do!

While the owner tried to be very accommodating to work with, the flaws in the structure of the home were very disappointing. The Master bath shower, had black mold; we had to spray each time with disinfectant. The tub was un-usable; a pool light fixture was hanging by a cord; there were cobwebs in the bedrooms; several of the light plates were old and cracked; heat vents were dirty, some didn't fit the wall/hung out over the woodwork; when we went to adjust the thermostat in the great room, the cover fell off and had scotch tape underneath; a light switch we apparently weren't supposed to use, had tape over it. in the master closet, someone had punched through the back wall, two major holes (we have photos of all these things). The utility room, besides the washer/dryer, was stacked with junk; it also had two smoke alarms in a box, unopened - and they needed to be, because there were two smoke alarms in the whole house, dubious, that one of them was functioning. Along Both sides of the house, it was stacked with junk; old screen doors (no screens on the windows/sliders) old pool furniture/cracked, old pool equipment, etc etc. the diving board bolts appear rusted, the small bit of lawn was muddy/patchy, couldn't walk on it. The barbecue was dirty/unusable; We could not park our car in the garage; it was stacked with storage things/ junk; We were told the pool would cost us $400 to to $500 to heat for the week; the bench by the pool was so old and deteriorated, you could not sit on it. The plants in the front yard were dried up. The fountain was non-functioning/dirty/just sitting in the front area. There was only one towel rack in the master bath by the sinks. If you move the drapes, they fall off the rack. The kitchen was updated; but the housekeeper wasn't' cleaning the blinds by the sink, they were covered with spatters; coffee pot, dirty w/grounds in it from the person before . Bottom line, This home needs a major major, complete renovation just to be safe and clean. You could tell there were patches/attempts - but they were painting over the bad spots, just cosmetic things. Very sad. It was so NOT the home pictured. We should ask for a refund, but don't want to get in a legal mess. But for safety's safe, someone needs to go through that home, especially the wiring. Michele & Larry Moran

Perfect for our family!

Our family stayed for a week of spring training in March 2017 and loved the home. The outside patio was the highlight for us during a week of amazing weather. The kitchen was well appointed and everything worked great. And you can't beat the location. We all enjoyed walking around the golf course once play had stopped for the day. The owner was great to work with although we didn't really have any troubles where we needed his help during our stay. We will definitely look to stay here again on our next visit to Scottsdale.

Would stay there again!

We had a great stay. Shawn was great to work with. He was in touch several times before & during our stay to make sure everything was good. He was quick to respond to any questions we had. They had just remodeled the kitchen with nice new appliances & plenty of cookware and dishes. There was plenty of space for our 4 couples to enjoy spending time there. Everything was clean & in good working order.

Perfect Location, size and floorplan

My wife and our 5 children stayed in this home. We really enjoyed the layout of the home. The living room was huge and the dining area was great for our large family. We especially enjoyed the HUGE covered patio area. Lots of seating for eating and a nice BBQ. We also loved all the windows. It is located right on a golf course so it had a nice view. The yard was great! A huge pool! A beautiful view of the golf course from the back yard yet very private. The home was very clean. We met the cleaner as we arrived and we must say she did an excellent job. The location was PERFECT. It was absolutely close to everything and their was a nice private lake walk nearby and a great bike trail system. The owner did provide bikes they weren't in the best shape but he was upfront about that. He told us he provides bikes as a courtesy but isn't in the business of maintaining them. We would definitely book this home again for future trips to Arizona.

Very nice home

3 couples stayed in this house for 2 weeks. The night before we arrived there was a alots of wind and rain and the property had debris all over the yard. We called the owners and they got it cleaned in a A timely manner. The home was very spacious with lots of windows. We really enjoyed our stay. Will consider staying there again.

Our family of 7 stayed at this house for a week. It's in a great location, great space for a family group. We were able to take walks, bike ride, and drive easily to many attractions. Big house that was exceptionally clean, but be aware, it is NOT a luxury rental home. While some things are updated, many are quite old and the home itself needs some care. The yard is good space but not well cared for either. Overall, however, a reasonable rental for the cost.

Everything we wanted!!

We enjoyed this home very much. The floorplan was perfect for our family! The he was very clean and well appointed!! The back yard was awesome huge pool. Green grass and great views of the golf course. The location of the home was A+++. I would highly recommend this home to anyone coming to Scottsdale.

GREAT LOCATION/GREAT HOME/

We loved staying in this home and getting away from the cold. It appears from out stay that the home was recently updated. It had all new flooring and the back yard was fabulous. Lots of SUN or shade. It had a huge covered patio. The owner told us the pool had just been redone as well. The location was excellent, the home was excellent and we just had a great time! We hope to come back next year!!

Absolutely perfect

My family and I were looking for a home on a golf course with a pool. This home fit the bill perfectly. I am surprised the owner hasn't updated the pictures as many many updates were apparently made to the home. The pool had been completely redone the week before we arrived. Also new carpet had just been installed and while we were staying the front yard was redone as well. I was originally a bit concerned as there was one review last year that didn't give the house a 5 star. However we loved it and think the house is great. Great floor plan, great yard, incredible pool, unbeatable location and the owner was very pleasant and responsive to deal with. I told him he needs to change his pictures since all the artwork, bedding, pool, yard etc has been changed. The pictures don't do this home justice. We will definitely be back!

Loved the location and the home!

We are from England and decided to brave the summer heat. We absolutely loved this home and found the location to be exceptional. We were very keen on the huge pool and beautiful views of the golf course. The home had a great floorplan and was light and bright. We found the home spotless and well maintained despite a review we had read earlier. The bed in the Master was so comfy I wanted to ship it back to England. It was HOT but we had a great time and enjoyed the pool and home very much.

We loved it

We loved staying this home. The location was incredible. We also loved the views from the backyard of the home. The house was large and very nice and comfortable. One of our favorite things about this home was the biking trails, walking trails, parks nearby and excellent shopping and restaurants all within walking distant. We will be back!!!
